I visited my cousins in Shelbyville, Indiana some 30 years ago and was asked to wait for a very special freight train going to the Shelbyville Freight Shed. From there, I picked up five light boxes of vehicle parts for my cousin. The thing that most impressed me was that the locomotive was a Big Boy, and it was hauling around 300 tons of freight from Hershey.

Chatsworth Road is an absolutely glorious layout, despite the use of a Class 20 diesel locomotive. The blinking thing is whistling along and making a terrible row!!
sadly can't get to these big shows anymore, legs aren't good enough is one thing, and the lad i'd normally go with is one of these who rushes round all the trade, moans at the prices and want's to be in and out in an hour., you need all day at York. . looks like there were some nice contemporary ( modern ) image layouts.
Hello @mrbluesky2050 Yes there were quite a few Modern layouts on show and I believe this years shows was one of the best. I agree you have to take your time to enjoy the show and take in all the show has to offer. I spent two full days there filming and enjoying the atmosphere. The Helston layout is beautifully done and is a very good representation of the area.
Nice to see another different look at one of the most important model railway shows.
With such long, multi locomotive freight trains, this can only be an American H0 layout. GLORIOUS!!
I was proud to invite Dave Howsam's "Helston" to York, having seen his "Porthleven" at York in the Easter 1968 show!

The 37s using Queens Road Shed are Yard are, believe it or not, my favourite diesel locomotive.
I see Steady Eddie has trains as well as lorries!!
