Aliens is one of the greatest films ever made as far as I'm concerned. From a writer's standpoint, the character/ world building in the first half hour is almost completely without peer. To inform the viewer on the personalities of that many characters in such a short time is REALLY hard to pull off.
Yes, the 2nd film is the best. I also really like 3, although the very ending never really felt right. It’s very stark and brutal, and an interesting contrast to the superior 2nd film.

She reminds me of Jamie Lee Curtis. They both have deep voices for a woman, and they both have elongated faces. Plus, they both belong to successful horror franchises. This is a really good interview.

My favorite actress by far. I love her in all the Alien movies, Galaxy Quest, Ghostbusters, Gorillas in the Mist, as well as her numerous smaller roles in movies like Avatar, Cabin in the Woods, and Paul.
She was the perfect choice to play the first female badass I'd ever seen on film. A mix of beautiful feminity mixed with an underlying masculine, authoritative energy that commanded respect when she spoke. Still couldn't believe the studio did not want to pay her 1 million dollars for Aliens considering how much they knew they would make off this sequel simply off the back of the original which did HUGE business but that was the 80's. People like to wax lyrical on how great the 80's was but the reality for many was that it was not quite as amazing as people say, particularly if you were a woman or a minority

A good insight in to why Ripley was so very cool because Sigourney depicted her not only as unwilling but having to dig very, very deep to do what she did and even though I was a boy who loved Arnie and Sly, she helped me relate to the seeming impossibility of fighting such incredible horror. Ripley was a very immersive character. Super-immersive for an action hero.

Look at "The Crow" to see what happens when gun safety is not respected on-set. Cameron ensured that mess didn't happen on "Aliens". PS. I hope Alec Baldwin lives a long and unhappy life in prison.
