- Omnipod 5 is coming to the UK and Germany this year. I spoke to Dr. Trang Ly, Senior Vice President and Medical Director or Insulet; home of Omnipod.
You can join the interest list here ( it is not the waiting list!) www.omnipod.com/en-gb/what-is...
Let me know if you have any questions about Omnipod 5 in the comments.

I love it! It’s life changing the closed loop system works perfect ✅
Omnipod 5 has been great for us. The only issue has been integration with G6 only which has been spotty for us due to long standing issues with G6. Once they open up to G7 and others it will be even better.
Just made the switch to Dexcom G7 so hopefully Omnipod will be making use of G7 very soon. Also in Germany I made easily the switch from Omnipod to Omnipod Dash by saying I found a way to get the DASH PDM on my own, which in fact I don't have and I don't need, because I'm looping and using my mobile phone. I would never ever take again a clumsy third device for that. So I really hope the transition from Omnipod Dash to Omnipod 5 will be equally easy and also supported by Loop soon. Until the mentioned steps and requirements above have been fullfilled I have no interesst in Omnipod 5. Finally I want to bring up that the changes are really not life changing between dash and 5, at least they have not been advertised excitingly enough for me by this lady.
Thanks for the update tho
Great video revealing dissapointingly slow rates of rollout and intercompatibility.
Thanks Magnus!
Do you know when this will be available in other European countries? I live in Norway
They should have had O5 working on most phones before they rolled them out! I really like the O5 and hope they get it compatible so more people can use the system without carrying around the PDM.
I'm thrilled they rolled it out before being compatible with more phones. The controller works well and is, frankly, preferable to using a phone in my house. The Omnipod users in my house are almost 12 and just 13 year old boys. They are far more likely to break a phone than their controller. Another delay in the release would mean longer before people can use this system. I hope they are compatible soon for users like you, but when we switched I had a harder time with G6 phone compatibility which has to be used via phone when you use the O5. I just bought everyone Dexcom compatible phones. The least expensive ones are around $70 on eBay. They actually are O5 compatible too, but, again, we prefer the controller.
When will it be in the Netherlands?
During ATTD, Omnipod only announced information about UK and Germany. I will share Netherlands ETA when I hear it.
What about iOS users?
Are Omnipod Good i want to try Which is better Dexcom or Libre
Dexcom is waaaay more accurate, I’d highly recommend it, having tried both
@@ds_7 i cant get it only offered Libre 2 i live in UK Halifax not offred as expensive what about Omnipod
The Omnipod 5 is great. Honestly, we have had many issues with the Dexcom (G6), however, it is the only option if you want to use the Omnipod 5.
Both CGM are very accurate so it is matter of pure preference. Currently only Dexcom G6 works with Omnipod 5
Is omnipod 5 compatible with dexcom 7?
Not yet. Hopefully soon. I've heard rumors of it possibly being so by spring, however, it is far from official.
@@cat456456 thank you. I hope by spring! Would be nice
The roll out is so slow. It should be launched with Dexcom G7 with mobile application to bolus so no need to use PDM.
So basically she's been told by her employer to dodge the question and not reveal any updates as to an ios app or dexcom g7 compatibility. typical.
So I’m going be getting this in 2024 then... May as well switch to G7 in the meantime.
July 2023? OMnipod don’t work with G7 yet so stick to G6
@@gurugamer8632 I'm in Sweden, which has basically no chance of getting Omnipod 5 this year based on this video, while the G7 is expected to be released in the coming months. If I can have a better glucose monitor for at least 7 months, I will take it. Especially considering that Omnipod will likely have implemented G7 support by the time I get my hands on it. And even if not, worst case I switch back to G6 then.
The clinic I am at is quite understanding, and since I won't need the starting handheld device, there most likely won't be any minimum required time to be on the system (same policy as with the Omnipod Dash).
I tried LIBRE for two and a half years and found it a piece of shit.
I did dozen of comparative tests to finger pinch glucose and only had a match in about 10%.
I stopped using libre.
Do not know this one but strong advise CAUTION.
One cannot expect a dead on match being one is using blood and the other tissue fluid. And a fingerstick will have a level of tolerance as well. Perhaps the LIBRE was more accurate at times then the fingerstick!
It depends on each individual body. Libre was excellent for me, I struggle with the Dexcom.
diabetes hidden disabilty not nkticable dont know have understand it were like phone batteries we drian die out tired when low then when high full boosted of energy 😊😊
Very slow roll out
