If you think about it, it took only 17ish years to change the mind of Nolan about eradicating humanity and that's after thousands of years of loyalty to the Viltrumite. Thragg's surrender is legit the best option for humanity and worst case scenario for Thragg. Not to mention most hybrids like mark wouldn't turn on their human parent and he'll be way outnumbered, i think he knows this and willing to make that sacrifice for the survival of his race. We'll find out after the next 4 cliffhangers.

I served 15 years in the US Army and have been deployed 6 times, and you are exactly correct. Those bonds are stronger than the bond that I have with my wife and kids. When you literally put your life in someone else’s hands, there is not larger bond.
The problem with Mark is that his first impulse is to hit things instead of using his head to think. The second Mark sees anything that looks bad, he hits it. That's how he messed up Angstrom Levy. Now he thinks he can just punch Thragg.
Thragg's a really interesting antagonist. You can't even call him a bad guy cuz he's not inherently evil. He's doing what he was born to do and what he thinks is best for his race

Stalin did win despite committing similar level of atrocities and many historians claim he killed more, Mao killed probably as many in China and what promoting communism is not seen nearly as bad as nazism. There are concentration camps in China right now and China isn't disliked as much, even Chinese leader visiting California is welcomed with honors. The part that was foreshadowed, was Nolan speaking on his time on Earth and how that changed him... in less than 20 years to boot. Mind you, Nolan is thousands of years old AND seemingly older than Thragg. That touch on Mark's shoulders... is kinda like a "knowing" touch-think when Whis says "I wonder about that" in dragonball super. It seems to say, there is nothing to worry about because HE TOO (Nolan) hid amongst humans and became more "human" as a result. Furthermore, the Viltrumites are vulnerable, like, at the mercy of humanity "so to speak". This also suggests the Viltrumites will be influenced. There is also no guarantee that their offspring will simply cow-tow. See: Mark. The moment they decided to live on Earth is the moment the war was won.

I'd give Thragg a counter offer; stay here in the open; breed, replenish your numbers - save the Viltrumite race and integrate. If you agree to the general premise, let's sit down over some beers and work out the details of what that looks like. I feel like Thragg might entertain the idea of conquest by subversion than submission given that conquest by submission hasn't exactly done the Viltrumite race any good in the long run. They have enemies everywhere; their homeworld is destroyed and they're on the brink of extinction. Obviously; the battle strategy needs to change and Thragg has shown he's intelligent enough to understand that concept and put aside misgivings if it means Viltrumites get to live.

This development is insane. Freddie is playing 5d chess here, there is no way Mark, Cecil, anyone can hold up to this. I mean what will happen now? There is no guarantee that the children of the viltrimites wont end up like Mark did but still many will not end up like mark and they just need to bolster their numbers by a few hundred. Mark has no choice but to go for an ideoligcal battle here. He needs to win over the next generation of viltrimites?

Not going to spoil the rest of the series but re-reading it... You guys ain't seen nuthin' yet... I'm really hoping the (animated) series goes on for at least 5 6 seasons and we get to see some of the more epic storylines come to play! In the meantime, y'all should stay tuned for more...
I really like those twists to the story Kirkman does, it never felt predictable, we never knew what would happen next, that and the fact he writes his characters so well makes Invincible as good as it is (in that matter, the show is doing a good job at adapting the story, but,and this is just my opinion, I'm afraid is not going to be that consistent regarding some of the characters, and also it'd seem they are relying on the "oh, my god this show is so violent" aspect of it too much, to appeal to the audience of the show, which was never the case with the comics)
Don't worry too much because even the first season they didn't rely on the violent aspect of it, the show has great writers with Kirkman leading the charge.

What Mark failed to realize in the moment was that it would be entirely possible that future Viltrimites might have a change of heart like his father did, meaning that it wouldn't necessarily be that easy a fight for Thrag and Co. Haven't read the comics so not sure if I'm right or not.
Yeah I was thinking that too. That's probably the hope that he has because the alternative choices are doomed the earth now or Doom the rest of the universe a few millennia down the line.

Answering YES isn't actually that bad of an idea. Who's to say all of the children of the others will be willing to conquer the worlds in the same way? Just look at how Mark is turning out instead of his father, adding humanity into the mix is not as simple as just breeding more soldiers. Also another idea.. with only 37 left they could try to secretly take them out one by one over time, which is what I imagine Cecil will be trying to do.
I guess theres a pretty good chance that all the new hybrids develop the same values that Mark has by just being raised in a human society. So Freddie Mercury's plan might fail in that way.
Idk why Mark is so scared of this, Nolan was changed by spending time with humans and falling in love with Debbie, who’s to say the other viltrumites don’t do the same? Also the children of the viltrumites just like mark will likely end up caring for humans, sure there will be bad apples who got the short end of the stick but if the 37 in 3 generations are now 1000 how many do you think will side with Mark and how many will side with Freddy. Also the viltrumites may be able to conquer the earth but they would be FAR better suited to making it their new homeworld, building it up with their technology until it becomes viltrum 2 as the humans are their last chance to revive their race. If I was Thragg I have the 37 split up so there is 1 in every major global power then have them slowly rise up the political ranks of earth until in a few generations they control the whole planet at which point they unite to form a global government then they start introducing their space technology to humans turning humanity into a galactic player. I know Thragg respects and reveres the past of the viltrumites but he should also be able to learn from their mistakes, if he creates the second viltrumite empire on earth he should seek to conquer through peaceful means rather than through war as they did in the past. The best asset that the viltrumites have is their long lifespans, they don’t need to subjugate planets they can go in and assist the planet to the point that they become the de facto rulers over generations of the resident population. Then the planet becomes a vassal of their empire and the cycle continues.
Never knew Rob came from a farm, he's milking that invincible cow like he was born on a diary farm 10 minutes at a time :) Having said that. Can anyone blame Thrax for what he wants? Especially after learning that the earth offspring defeated conquest(the second most powerful well trained Viltrumite) in his twenties and he has thousands of years to train and grow his strength. If Mark is the standard a human hybrid seems like an upgrade from a pure blood viltrumite.
Viltrumites can't shot energy blasts capable of destroying a planet or magnify their power like Saiyans can when they go super. But Saiyans can't just fly through space, and don't have the same level if durability. Both become stronger after a battle. So... I'd honestly say it just depends on which individual from either race is fighting who.
U guys r bugging saiyans r extremely durable I mean super took a lot of it away seeing goku got shot with a laser bc he dropped his guard. But minus that saiyans r just like vultramites in a big way but saiyans r def stronger nd faster I say maybe older mark stands a better chance tbh
Considering it took less than an hour of being beaten by his father for Mark to convince his father to give up... Giving Mark a thousand years of access to the remaining Vultramites is practically a surrender. I'd be like "hey, thanks for the new super human army".
This Thragg I respect. Later series Thragg got far away from what he originally fought for. “I was not made grand regent for Revenge” later “all I have is revenge!” He became too one dimensional

This isn't really how it ends tho, the whole message was left out. People can change, just like Nolan's redemption arc. He teaches Mark what Mark taught him in the beginning. The humanity and love and emotions of being human will inevitably change the Viltrumites like it did for Nolan. They won't want to destroy their only home and their eventually adopted people - humanity. Nolan counts on that belief when making that agreement.

Just throwing my idea out, what if Mark had some consideration to human life in the manner of change it makes. Mark negotiates to “Yes” with terms being an extent of “100-500/1,000” being an example in time, but creates this open hole of if Thragg found a life outside of the signified specie and overall went wholesome in some way???????

I remember when immigrating to the states my parents and family put into my head this idea that I was not allowed to assimilate, that I was not allowed to be like the “Americans”, that I had to echo the ideals of my home culture to my dying breath, but at this point of my life I’ve lived in the states far longer than in Haiti and while I’m proud of where I’m from and my culture, assimilation is something I could not escape. I’ve grown up in the states and made friends here, been influenced by the culture, the people and the ideals. Freddy Mercury can plan for the future conquest of the earth all he wants but those future viltramite kids may want nothing to do with his war. Some of them may assimilate to the point of considering both their viltrimite and human cultures an indispensable part of themselves(kind of like immigrant kids anywhere really not just the States). We saw this play out whit Mark, his dad playing the role of a proud immigrant parent who came to learn that even though he may not want to admit it, his time on earth had changed him, and is just as important to him as his time on Viltrim. Idk man, Freddy may end up being dissatisfied with the results of his army experiment, can’t imagine future generations of viltrims will have zero feelings about their human sides of the family. Not going to spoil the rest of the series but re-reading it... You guys ain't seen nuthin' yet... I'm really hoping the (animated) series goes on for at least 5 6 seasons and we get to see some of the more epic storylines come to play!

I really like those twists to the story Kirkman does, it never felt predictable, we never knew what would happen next, that and the fact he writes his characters so well makes Invincible as good as it is (in that matter, the show is doing a good job at adapting the story, but,and this is just my opinion, I'm afraid is not going to be that consistent regarding some of the characters, and also it'd seem they are relying on the "oh, my god this show is so violent" aspect of it too much, to appeal to the audience of the show, which was never the case with the comics)
Don't worry too much because even the first season they didn't rely on the violent aspect of it, the show has great writers with Kirkman leading the charge.

What Mark failed to realize in the moment was that it would be entirely possible that future Viltrimites might have a change of heart like his father did, meaning that it wouldn't necessarily be that easy a fight for Thrag and Co. Haven't read the comics so not sure if I'm right or not.

Yeah I was thinking that too. That's probably the hope that he has because the alternative choices are doomed the earth now or Doom the rest of the universe a few millennia down the line.

I love that Rob just relishes in the fact he leaves viewers on a cliff hanger, but what an ending.

Answering YES isn't actually that bad of an idea. Who's to say all of the children of the others will be willing to conquer the worlds in the same way? Just look at how Mark is turning out instead of his father, adding humanity into the mix is not as simple as just breeding more soldiers. Also another idea.. with only 37 left they could try to secretly take them out one by one over time, which is what I imagine Cecil will be trying to do.
It is not leaving us with cliff hangers that makes you a bad person, it is your enjoyment of it that does.

Idk why Mark is so scared of this, Nolan was changed by spending time with humans and falling in love with Debbie, who’s to say the other viltrumites don’t do the same? Also the children of the viltrumites just like mark will likely end up caring for humans, sure there will be bad apples who got the short end of the stick but if the 37 in 3 generations are now 1000 how many do you think will side with Mark and how many will side with Freddy.
Also the viltrumites may be able to conquer the earth but they would be FAR better suited to making it their new homeworld, building it up with their technology until it becomes viltrum 2 as the humans are their last chance to revive their race.
If I was Thragg I have the 37 split up so there is 1 in every major global power then have them slowly rise up the political ranks of earth until in a few generations they control the whole planet at which point they unite to form a global government then they start introducing their space technology to humans turning humanity into a galactic player. I know Thragg respects and reveres the past of the viltrumites but he should also be able to learn from their mistakes, if he creates the second viltrumite empire on earth he should seek to conquer through peaceful means rather than through war as they did in the past. The best asset that the viltrumites have is their long lifespans, they don’t need to subjugate planets they can go in and assist the planet to the point that they become the de facto rulers over generations of the resident population. Then the planet becomes a vassal of their empire and the cycle continues.
Never knew Rob came from a farm, he's milking that invincible cow like he was born on a diary farm 10 minutes at a time :) Having said that. Can anyone blame Thrax for what he wants? Especially after learning that the earth offspring defeated conquest(the second most powerful well trained Viltrumite) in his twenties and he has thousands of years to train and grow his strength. If Mark is the standard a human hybrid seems like an upgrade from a pure blood viltrumite.
Rob, I’d love to hear you discuss your thoughts on Saiyans and Viltrumites!
Viltrumites can't shot energy blasts capable of destroying a planet or magnify their power like Saiyans can when they go super. But Saiyans can't just fly through space, and don't have the same level if durability. Both become stronger after a battle. So... I'd honestly say it just depends on which individual from either race is fighting who.
U guys r bugging saiyans r extremely durable I mean super took a lot of it away seeing goku got shot with a laser bc he dropped his guard. But minus that saiyans r just like vultramites in a big way but saiyans r def stronger nd faster I say maybe older mark stands a better chance tbh
Considering it took less than an hour of being beaten by his father for Mark to convince his father to give up... Giving Mark a thousand years of access to the remaining Vultramites is practically a surrender. I'd be like "hey, thanks for the new super human army".
This Thragg I respect. Later series Thragg got far away from what he originally fought for. “I was not made grand regent for Revenge” later “all I have is revenge!” He became too one dimensional

This isn't really how it ends tho, the whole message was left out. People can change, just like Nolan's redemption arc. He teaches Mark what Mark taught him in the beginning. The humanity and love and emotions of being human will inevitably change the Viltrumites like it did for Nolan. They won't want to destroy their only home and their eventually adopted people - humanity. Nolan counts on that belief when making that agreement.

Just throwing my idea out, what if Mark had some consideration to human life in the manner of change it makes.
Mark negotiates to “Yes” with terms being an extent of “100-500/1,000” being an example in time, but creates this open hole of if Thragg found a life outside of the signified specie and overall went wholesome in some way???????

I remember when immigrating to the states my parents and family put into my head this idea that I was not allowed to assimilate, that I was not allowed to be like the “Americans”, that I had to echo the ideals of my home culture to my dying breath, but at this point of my life I’ve lived in the states far longer than in Haiti and while I’m proud of where I’m from and my culture, assimilation is something I could not escape. I’ve grown up in the states and made friends here, been influenced by the culture, the people and the ideals. Freddy Mercury can plan for the future conquest of the earth all he wants but those future viltramite kids may want nothing to do with his war. Some of them may assimilate to the point of considering both their viltrimite and human cultures an indispensable part of themselves(kind of like immigrant kids anywhere really not just the States). We saw this play out whit Mark, his dad playing the role of a proud immigrant parent who came to learn that even though he may not want to admit it, his time on earth had changed him, and is just as important to him as his time on Viltrim. Idk man, Freddy may end up being dissatisfied with the results of his army experiment, can’t imagine future generations of viltrims will have zero feelings about their human sides of the family. But I could be wrong...plz no more cliffhangers😭
