Invincible is an American comic book series written by Robert Kirkman, illustrated by Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley, and published by Image Comics. Set in the Image Universe, Invincible follows the coming of age of superhero Mark Grayson / Invincible, a Viltrumite and first-born son of Omni-Man, the most powerful person on the planet. The series began publication on January 22, 2003, concluding on February 14, 2018 with 144 issues. A television series adaptation began streaming on Amazon Prime Video on March 25, 2021 to critical acclaim.

Unpopular Opinion: I appreciate that Mark is a superhero that is actually played by a rational person. I appreciate that he tries to talk it out, but I also like that he's learned that you can talk it out with sign language for some enemies. With an _aggressive_ sign language.

Wrong. The brutality in this one is second to none however, the emotion while fighting his dad just jumped off the pages

Mark tried to depend to much on Talk no Justu. It would seem now he has grasp the concept Batman has failed to learn.
The flaw in your logic is that several of Batmans rogues have gone or attempted to go straight due to him talking to them. Wonder Woman does the same thing.

@@JDBossanova Thing is, the value of life is independent of quantity. One life is not worth more than two, and two lives isn't worth more than one.
Now if an offender truly tries to change, they should be given that chance, and should be made to atone for their sins, because truly many are not worth than a single if that single can be saved. But when they show no remorse, and still kill more, and you still do nothing meaningful to to keep them from doing that (vegetative state, removal of limbs, nothing), then you have valued a single life above many, which is still heavily flawed.
Can you blame Batman? Or blame the shitty justice system in Gotham that doesn’t just say death penalty?
I agree that Mark views killing as the easy way out, but I think he’ll kill if he has no choice. Mark seemed like he would’ve killed Conquest as soon as the fight started.
After that first Real punch he got in the face, Mark realized that he could not match Conquest’s strength and desperately tried to reason with him. It was a move of desperation rather than hesitation.

Imagine surviving a war where you had to fight evil versions of yourself and then a yolked up, super muscular old guy descends from the sky and says “let’s fight.”

The first thing I ever saw of Invincible, was Mark headbutting Conquest to death.

@@filipbabic4913 Thragg was smart in sparing Mark. His people were decimated and the only way to save them was to merge them with the human race and he needed the Graysons alive to negotiate. That only changed when he learned who Nolan's papa was.

I absolutely love how Invincible, the comic overall, shows that relationships aren’t just black and white and both sides will have troubles in it however learning to fix those issues without hurting each other or other toxic ways that are usually portrayed as good in a lot of teen romas is just so great to see

I never really saw him saying that he wouldn’t hesitate to kill as a good thing, I saw it as a loss of innocence, he’s become something that he never wanted to become.

I know he both gets his ass beat and Atom Eve really helps but, it is really sick to see Mark take on an actual Viltrumite.
When he fought Omni-Man, Mark just got demolished. It's really awesome to see him actually do damage to Conquest, really shows how much stronger Mark is getting!
The thing about Invincible is that when someone dies in the series, they're dead. When I first read about Rex's funeral, I was genuinely sad for the characters; and it was really unsettling to know that he was gone. Like a real person. Volume 12 had to be my favorite volume in the series.

It’s interesting how passionate Robert Kirkman is about his hero characters being okay with killing their villains, while at the same time, he never actually kills the villains off because he still wants to use them.

Eve caring about rex reflects how mark felt about amber when her boyfriend hit her, different emotions but the core facts of they still care about them.

Mark is like the flash in CW series. He could have captured all the villains in a swoop but waits to talk to them and fights them sometimes without using his speed.

It's the main thing the super hero crowd has always needed to understand and learn for the longest time. Sure, have a code of ethics where you don't always immediately resort to killing, only when it's necessary. But that's the thing is with many of the enemies superheroes face, it is not only justified but highly advised to kill these villains.
Yes, Batman and superman aren't the ones directly killing people when villains do their plans, but by not killing the villains and allowing them to continually come back and murder mass quantities of people the heroes are just as responsible for every death
I’m more anti hero who willing to kill villain if necessary but I won’t kill one that can be redeemed
@@jacobrivera1721 I always preferred anti heroes myself as well. And truthfully based on the amounts of villains heroes let live I would even go so far as to say that anti heroes save more lives even though they kill, because at least they stop repeat murder offenders from continuing the rampage. Never been a fan of no kill rules. Feels extremely juvenile and foolish

@@thirdplanet4471 Yes, there are heroes that kill but usually at that point they get marked as anti heroes instead. And the vast majority of the most popular heroes typically don't kill. Wonder woman and thor are some of the very few exceptions to that rule for the really popular ones, though not the only exceptions
Vegeta is one of my favorites because he knows that some need to just be killed. Hence why he killed the Ginyu Force and told Goku why and he was right. Goku can be too soft sometimes. Not Vegeta. He will kill you if you are threat.

Also, who exactly is powerful enough to demolish Conquest's right arm/eye like that? So there is something that is about as powerful as a Viltrimite out there.
Well if you want to know, spoilers ahead...
There is an alien species that are basicly Xenomorphs but for Viltrumites. They can be killed by a Viltrumite but the problem is that they are often in big packs and their claws and teeth easily cut through the Viltrumite skin
He was weakened by that virus whenever he lost his eye and arm..
Conquest is one of those characters where everyone they’re stronger than is weak by comparison, but everyone stronger is leagues above them.

But rob… I hope that in the future that you spend as much time on Mark’s emotional development to not want to kill because it’s too easy, as you spend on Mark’s decision to kill because it’s the “right thing” to do.
It’s subtle, but that biased towards killing being ‘right’ and not showing the opposing view of the same person later, reinforces a devaluation of Life in general.
Characters who don’t kill aren’t weak willed, some of them acknowledge that death is a one way option and sometimes it’s incumbent on us to do what’s hard, not what’s easy ^_^

"War" is not part of any of the titles, I figured out that you really meant 'part 2' of Vol 12-despite the small inconsistency in the title, great job telling the tale as always. Thanks for sharing your fun & thorough recaps of the stories with us.
