- Welcome back to Space Engineers Survival 2024! The late De-Caffinator left behind a void. In this episode, we'll fill that void with a new ship! We'll also patch a few holes in our defenses and finish up the AMG Sandstorm hangar.

A catwalk that swings or extends out to the Sandstorm would be awesome. Combine it with a connector to transfer components / ammo.

I think it would be a fun idea to refit the AMG Sandstorm into a space station and launch it from the base into space. That way, you can still have the AMG Sandstorm be in use while also freeing space in your giant hangar to build another big ship. Just an idea though
44:21 The spreading out looks really awesome, but you really should make the upper hinges much slower so that they'd stop moving at the same time. Would make it so much more satisfying.
I was thinking either naming it De-Caffinator Jr, or Re-Caffinator (like Pete & Repete).
It might take more work than you're wanting to do, but how about putting your docking bay welders below the floor on pistons. With event controllers (or your button panel), have them raise up once a ship is connected, which keeps them out of the way til needed?
You mentioned setting up decoys around the facilities to draw away enemy fire. Good idea.
DeCaffinator re name to DeCaffinator Dark Roast
Yeah, I had similar issues with my Welder/Grinder ship - As soon you use sub-grids your ship starts falling slightly (at least in gravity).
The only solution I found so far is copy/pasting the ship while in creative (still leaves some drift though), or merge-block your sub grids in position.
Edit: Lol... the only thing I was thinking when you spread your decoys for the gremlin was: Ready to mate... 😂

The Decaffeinator is now almost a proper X-Wing! Just a tad bit more toying around and you about got it.
well done the more defences the better they can usually be repaired easily
Glad to see a new attack fighter. You still have the one you shot down to rebuild. Possible redesign idea for repair bay.. bury the welders below floor level, add landing gear to ships, so they have more clearance and less chance to hit the welder. As far as space is concerned, take one of the wall hangers at the far end of the Sandstorm bay and hollow it out, and open it up to the surface (a mini Sandstorm Style Bay). Don't forget the ground level hangar rooms/workshops and upper level command stations for docking control :)
Thank you for the great ideas! I think we could do better with the repair bays than just static welders. It might be time for a proper repair bay.
For the mark 2, you could add flashing red lights to the end of your pistons, only on when the pistons are extended of course, to both add character and make it more visible in case you need to get close to the ground while they are extended
Hm a Piston and a few Welders move down with an ActionController when the ship docks and you have welding when docking your ship. Also a few Welder with Glass on top in the Floor that activate when you out of the docking bay.
Hey Andrew! I’m absolutely loving this series. You’re the one who has put some really cool ideas that have been sitting in my head, and fully produce them in this game.
Two things I really really really recommend. There are two mods that can up your lighting/ landing gear! Rebels lights has some really cool work lights that would look really cool in the new hangar, and Retractable landing gear would be super dope on the new Decaffeinator MkII ;)
If you ever wanna dig a straight line under ground really quickly, use a projector. Also it's best to have a mix of custom gat and auto cannon defense.
The Hangar could use a small lounge with a bar where you can view the ship.
hanger, really more of a dry dock, is looking great. you could have made that gantry hinged, so it can swing up out of the way.
I would love to see a costum rocket turret, looking like those flak batteries! :D

To avoid subgrids "pushing" the ship, enable "share inertial tensor" on both the piston and the hinge. Thus, it will make the ship treat all subgrids as a single inertial unit. Basically, the inertial tensor setting tells the physics engine to treat any subgrids connected with an inertial tensor as a single grid for physics calculations.

@@AndrewmanGaming if you like orchestral music try listening to Two Steps From Hell that is the only type of music they do. If you like violin then Lindsey Stirling and The Sidh are good with bagpipes.
I would be very cautious about using music that you personally cannot guarantee is royalty free.

Might be cool to carry some kind of fast, spotlight drone that you could try to rush into some blind spot of a base a light it up for you a little.
To fix the slow descent of the new combat ship, maybe have a very small thrust override active on one of the bottom thrusters to keep it aloft?

There are better choices to build that privacy wall. New hallway inserts that would help hide the bathroom and look nicer.
Hey Andrew! I've finally caught up to current time in your series, and I've got to say this has been one fantastic ride. I haven't gotten Space Engineers, and have been teetering back and forth on whether I should get it or not, as I love watching these survival series.
After binging these vids to catch up, I have a suggestion; the outposts you capture just have too much to simply scrap in my opinion. How about converting them to Drone control stations/general refueling outposts? To extend both your own operating range, and having drones to operate with out of them?
Piston heads are easy to shoot out, you may want to add a block and then the decoy. 42:59

It's a bit of an old one, but what about calling the new ship "Sanka"? It was one of the first companies to make decaf coffee, and for many people (mostly old people nowadays), was synonymous with "decaf". I used to work in a restaurant, and often old people would order "Sanka" when they meant "decaf coffee">
Name for the rebuild of the decaffinator, "Decaf's Revenge"
Recommend doing pistons on your welders to retract them.

Not sure if anyone has suggested this, but to prevent your new ship the (suggested name: re-caffeinator) from drifting downward you could add a small thruster with a little bit of thrust override.

I dont know if you have fixed this but the moving down could be because the pistons are still on retract once they have retracted. Love the videos❤
How about the Deux-Caffienator, deux being french for 2?
I think the piston decoys are pretty cool, think you could time the forward arms slower so they finish extending just as the rear arms finish dropping down?

Also, here is a random name i found would be good for the decafinator 2, its bit long but, you choose! The name i suggest is : "caffeinated sky emperor"
You could set up that damaged ship to patrol around the Pam base and make it attack any enemies that want a fun time if you know what I mean

If you lower the front wings and raise the rear wings your turret will have a better field of fire

Not sure if you noticed, but the wind turbine was not turning at the Cofini base.
I did notice that! I cut it out of the video but when I checked it was because the battery is full on that base. I think later on I noticed it spinning again but I'll keep a close eye if the CoFiNi base starts dipping in power.
Don't forget to turn on the AI behavior in your Defense block.

to bad you cant have the whole top of the hanger be a door so it can be enclosed and when ready open the door and fly the amg sandstorm out
Do you ever do co-ops with viewers by chance? I would love to play together since you have a very similar building mindset and play style as I do!
Why not just put the welding arm on a piston and a hinge and just manually control the welder to repair everything from base resources?
Try putting less power on your pistons for the decafinator, should givr less phantom forces
Why dont you dig under the welders and use a piston to raise and lower them that way the decaf can destroy them and you will have more space
I've become i like it alot the game and I've started playing as well and I have a question about the ships you craft.
Could you put them in the workshop so we can build them too?
Would it not be better to put the camera on the decafinater behind glass?

From when we did the voxel editing when trying to free the AMG Sandstorm. We had to run through it with voxel hand because there was a pixel voxel somewhere keeping the ship stuck.
