Elapse was the strangest ballet I've seen, for me it was depressingly dreary. Though the dancers were perfectly in sync there was zero joy. A dark stage, dour expressions, tedious music, very odd body, arm, hand movements, weird 12" antler/branches on dancers' heads and a nonstop smoke machine. I love the ballet, wanted and tried to like this one. My honest response was utter dismay, no offense intended.
The other 3 performances last Sat. evening were fabulous: Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux, The Lightning Round, and 4 Seasons were outstanding and standing ovation worthy! Very entertaining!! The dancers, orchestra, conductors all in fine, top form. Still smiling!!!

It's not supposed to be a joyous piece. It's meditative, introspective, mournful- reflective of the passage of time.
