  • Maurice Linguist will be Alabama's new DB coach and co-defensive coordinator | Kalen DeBoer is adding a second sitting FBS head coach to his Alabama coaching staff with Buffalo's Maurice Linguist agreeing to take a job on the Crimson Tide's defensive staff, sources told ESPN on Tuesday.
    Linguist will be Alabama's co-defensive coordinator and will also coach defensive backs, a source said.
    Having just finished his third season as Buffalo's coach, Linguist will be able to call upon extensive experience coaching defensive backs. He coached the Dallas Cowboys' cornerbacks in 2020 and has worked with college secondaries at nine different programs.
    Prior to landing the Buffalo head job, Linguist served briefly as Michigan's co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach. Last year, he was a top candidate for the Cincinnati head coaching job.

    The Bama brand isn’t gone. It was a thing before Saban and is still a thing after Saban. Some of these comments I’m seeing are dumb as hell.

      I see dumb comments too.
      The brand gone? People should realize that Saban now holds the same position as a General Manager. Bama will be operating like a Pro Team.

    I was initially confused by the hire but after reading more about him I’m more on board. I like this hire more than the Womack hire. Still wish we had T Rob but these guys are good too.

      The db's Trob had kept getting cooked on the defense at times. That was the weakest point of the defense, so I'm not disappointed by these hires

    Maurice Linguiist is from Dallas. He will help get these Texas boys to Bama. Remember Jalen Hurts and Milroe are Texas guys, not everyone comes from Alabama and Florida

    What these couches have done at there previous jobs is almost irrelevant now they only question that matters is this and if they know were to find the 5 star players is also irrelevant the only thing that matters is this one question right here why would these players want to come play for them over texas over Georgia over say a Auburn or a Oklahoma or a LSU just want to know what really sets these coaches apart

    Honestly the fact that the whole coaching staff has changed is and should be worrisome to any alabama fan. This wasn't a new head coach this is a whole new structure that to these new recruits seems like a completely different team and therefore the brand is gone at this point. I am hoping that it works out but this is not great news for bama fans.

      That’s normal. Coaching staff are hired by a certain Head Coach to fit their structure. U can’t hire a new head coach and expect him to become great and be a perfect fit in an existing structure. The Head Coach builds the structure around themselves and if he thinks some of the old staff fit the new structure he will try to keep them if they don’t he will get new ones

    • @jeremypetro6991
      @jeremypetro6991 7 місяців тому

      @@idkwhatsagoodusername2007 yeah but when the existing coaching staff was so successful you’d hope some of the structure remains the same. Obviously Kevin steel was done and Tommy Reese was so young to the program he might leave too but t-rob was a major loss. I don’t think bama is fading into obscurity but the program as we know it is gone and that is scary.

      so let me get this straight you thought the new coach would come in and accept everyone on the existing staff? no new hire any where does that. i think they will be some holdover from the saban staff,there usually is. coach deboer has an amazing resume.so i think he knows what he is doing to build his staff.. the offense i think will be more like the lane kiffen offense at bama....and washington's defense nor fresno state for that matter was terrable. so let's wait and see shall we.

      The brand is gone ?! Are you serious ?!?! I’ve been a fan of the Tide since the 70s. I’ve been through ups and downs. I saw the end of the time Bear prowled the sidelines and heard the naysayers. We went through some rough stretches before Coach Saban came in and fixed things up. Make no mistake though, the “brand” was always there. The program has been around a LONG time and will be here long after we’re all gone. We won our first National Championship long before any of us was alive and we will be long gone before Bama wins its final title. There are some changes, a lot of changes. These are capable people though and they are working hard to keep the process going. Coach Saban will still have an office in the building and is helping with the transition as well. Hopefully this will help you find some faith. Things will be okay 👌

      @@skipgumphrey9579 You are correct brand was probably not the right word. Culture is a more appropriate word. To see kids jumping ship and realizing we are now dealing with problems that other schools have been going through for years is a tough pill to swallow. For years we had people be selfless in their approach and be dedicated to Alabama and it feels like it's slipping away.
