In the first few minutes we follow four soldiers walking through the burned out towns. The man with a Thompson has a curious rig. His belt is supported by a medic yolk, but he appears to have a three cell 30 round Thompson magazine pouch on his left side, not on his belt but slung loose bandolier style. This may be the only known picture of such an item in the field in the ETO. It it thought they were not issued in time to see action. I assume that he is an officer because has had a compass pouch on his belt, but no rank or unit insignia.

A lot of it looks staged. Radio operation at 2:39 has an expression on his face like "walk this fast?" LOL

This is the M1942 herringbone twill camouflage uniform that some elements of the 2AD wore during the summer of 1944, including 30th ID and 17th EB. The common consensus is that it soon fell out of favour due to some 'friendly fire' incidents

The camouflage, originally planned for the U.S.M.C in the Pacific, will be used very briefly during the Battle of Normandy. Indeed, in July 44, a camouflaged outfit consisting of a jacket and pants will be observed in particular on the 41st armored infantry battalion of the 2nd armored division.
The outfit is modeled on the HBT pattern 43 mesh suit, consisting of a two-pocket cargo jacket with elbow patches, and two-pocket cargo pants on the side, cut in chevron fabric. Only suits consisting of a jacket and trousers were worn in Normandy, the suits having been distributed in the Pacific. There is English manufacture, war compensation, whose fabric and dominant camouflages differ slightly. Those these camouflage suits were quickly removed from the front, because of the camouflaged outfits of the Waffen SS used and more and more problems from friendly fire.
