I know a lot of you are up in arms about the concept of buying knock-offs vs buying official ones and *I just want to set the record straight saying that it's a LOSE/LOSE situation: Buying unofficial NFC tags is supporting piracy and buying inflated-priced official packs is supporting scalping.*
I actually bought over a hundred of the fake ones. But I'd rather pay $50for a good amount for them rather than paying a ridiculous amount for the real ones
At 9amEST, I followed Target's directions and, after an hour of refreshing the crashing page, was able order the cards for pickup from my store. However, 30min later, Target emailed me to tell me my pack was no longer available. Had I know I could have "cheated" and just went to the store instead of following Target's directions, I would have. At this point, I wish Nintendo would just release the content as paid DLC.
As an artist I can 100% agree buying from scalpers or pirates is a double edged sword and supporting the offical company is the better option. However don't you think it's nintendos or targets job to atleast acknowledge the fact they messed up...just a little? A simple tweet or public message would be fixing half of this unfortunate fire. Which is why I think people are ok with buying from Etsy. A lot of us feel betrayed that both companies on top of not taking precautions, haven't even spoken out about the issue yet. If a company doesn't take care of it's consumer base people will just simply go somewhere else.
@@mochapucho7493 And that is on countries like USA, now imagine Latinamerica countries where getting the official cards are literally impossible. Here in Mexico Gameplanet had the cards but they sold out quite fast (we can say same situations as Target), that's why bootlegs is the next cheapest option instead of buying the originals from scalpers.

Harv's Island is the fastest way to unlock all the items. I scanned everyone in at Harv's, but only Chai to the campsite, and I'm able to order everything.
I did the same thing! Scanned the six cards at Harv's and only invited Chai to my campsite so far. (Actually just invited Chai to move to my island today. Not sure I'll be inviting the others to move in.)
I have Marty and Chai on my 1st island and I got marty on my 2nd I am considering whether to reinvite chai to my 2nd island or go with Chelsea and maybe Toby lol
I bought a fanmade Étoile amiibo for a little bit less than the pack itself because all I wanted was Étoile, Idc if it’s a ‘bootleg’, I don’t go for the real thing, too much of a task, all I want is the villager
Here’s an update: 4 days later I got my cards (yes they gave me all of them and not just the 1 I ordered), and they came super paper thin, so they were hard to scan, but they work! That’s all that matters
I’m not sure if paying scalpers ridiculous amounts of money for something that was sold for $6 is better than paying a bootlegger. As much as I would like the original cards, I feel that paying scalpers ridiculous amounts of money just encourages scalpers to keep doing what they are doing.

I paid a bootlegger $10 for all 6 cards. I couldn't get the legit. So meh. If Nintendo made more than the puny amounts they make... goes with the amiibo cards... then that's on Nintendo. I'm tired of their "limited stock" game and so are many other players of their games.

I was skeptical about getting custom-made cards from Etsy, but one of my close friends had in fact bought some and provided me with a trusted seller. It was honestly so cheap and I can't wait for them to arrive. The great thing is that they come a day after an exam I have so they're kinda like a little gift to myself for getting through it

@@nakama0895 just go to eBay or Etsy and search amiibo coins. They usually range from $15-20 for some bootleg ones. They work exactly the same as the original ones. Doing that will make the scalpers suffer because of their greed of buying stuffs that they don’t even need but is trying to profit off of it.

Etsy has the best custom cards for these, creators have also filmed videos on their products showing you they work so getting the offical ones is too much of a hassle especially here in Aus it was disastrous so I’d rather get the unofficial and “bootleg” doesn’t mean fake all the time
Yeah the custom cards are definitely a really good option, I got a custom shino the other day and the card worked perfectly, only thing is the customs usually don’t look as nice as the official cards, but mine looked decent enough, and I’m not really worried about the artwork on the card, I just want the villagers in my game lol
I found out that the sanrio items are cheaper if the villager actually lives on your island. I'll use the Pompompurin tv as an example. It was 12,000 bells before Marty moved to my island and then the price dropped to 8,000 bells!

Abdallah I have to correct you on how many times you can scan them. They are NFC215 chips, I’ve made them before, you can only scan them up to 10,000-15,000 times in its lifetime. Meaning if let’s say you were to scan them 3 times a day every day as it is in ACNH, it would take an estimate of about 14-15 years (assuming it’s 15,000, 10,000 would be even less) this is why today’s technology has gone to QR code’s because QR code’s are limitless whereas NFC chips eventually stop being readable.
I also have a correction if you want those sanrio items but you do not want the character to the campsite all you gotta do is scan it and when it says do you want to invite them to the campsite just say no back out to where it says who do you want to invite just scan a different one and repeat. really that simple a baboon with down syndrome that has smoked so much weed and has a brain tumor will be able to do this with ease
Theres no problem with getting them off etsy🤷🏽♀️ in most cases the fan made ones are more durable. I got the official ones, but if I didn't I was going to buy some from etsy, at least you wont pay $60, and they work the same.

I paid for a set from an artist so I’m at least supporting an artist for their work if they happen to not work but trusting they do. And by artist I mean they did art of the Sanrio characters with nfc chips in the cards.
I just got the smaller versions of the Sanrio amiibo cards and they work exactly the same. I got them all for $9.99 they are much cheaper then the regular size. They also work the same. They are on Amazon if you want a cheaper alternative

I got the "bootleg" cards on Ebay since I couldn't get the real ones. They work just fine and I paid around 16.99 including tax. I wish I could get the official ones but I'd rather support bootleg cards that cost a reasonable price than overpaying for original ones
I got them off Etsy. The way I look at it, I would gladly buy the official ones if Nintendo actually produced enough to find them. I would have picked the official ones from Target if I thought I had snowballs chance in hell of finding them. Which clearly it was an issue with this launch. I honestly don't understand why it's so hard for Nintendo to produce a lot more of them so we can skip buying the knock offs. It's fine if someone wants to make a stand and never buy non-official but I don't get the shaming of others who do because they want to, in this instance, enjoy the characters/stuff on their island too and can't possibly find the officials without supporting scalpers. Anywho. No regrets. Nintendo has received plenty of money from me thus far - and they'd get more if I could find the $6 card packet in store, LOL...
1. Nintendo did their usual thing and undersupplied the market giving scalpers the chance to charge $100 a pack. 2. Nintendo doesn't care that many people missed out on these cards. 3. Nintendo loses out on $$$ because bootleggers have a big market because Nintendo undersupplies.
never used an amiibo before, but borrowed my friend's sanrio ones. if i get all the items in my catalogue from adding them as a villager, will their sanrio-specific items stay in my catalogue if they leave? alternatively, if i invite them to harv's island so they don't have to actually move into my island, will their stuff stay in my catalogue too? thanks for the informative vid :)
Can animal crossing amiibos from previous games work on the switch? I’ve seen the amiibos be described as for New Leaf and not say anything about New Horizons. I’m wondering if any of the amiibo cards work for the switch

I personally prefer Official made items, that’s just me. I was luckily able to obtain a pack, but if I couldn’t, I would’ve probably gotten them from Etsy, they work JUST THE SAME. I just wanted the Official since I have wanted them since New Leaf.
I'm glad I waited. About a year late but I found a literal pile of Sanrio cards at my local target while grocery shopping and just picked them up. I'm not even a huge animal crossing fan or a Hello Kitty/Sanrio fan but I figured these might become a little rare in the far far future so I picked up like 2 packs.

I'm so happy. So the day of launch someone was giving away their extra packs in reddit. I didn't get a pack, but someone who had an extra pack as well as they looked at the comments for the giveaway. They saw I mentioned I didn't have a Target... Not a lie... No Target in my town or near me. So they asked me if I wanted them and I said yes. They arrive on April 2nd. I can't wait. I want Toby, Etoile and Marty so badly. They're so cute.

Rather than spending $50 to scalpers, I just paid $100 to buy 30 packs of original japanese version. The japanses scalpers only able to charge double the price because nintendo japan prints more.

Also I wanted to let you know Abdullah that you can get all the items in your Nook’s Shopping guide in one sitting if you go to Harv’s island. I hadn’t invited anyone to my campsite. I went to get the posters and that gave me access to all the items. Way faster. Invite the camper only if you actually want to see the character
You need to scan them every day until they ask to move in on the 3rd day, and if you don’t give them the item on time, you have to start over from the beginning I believe
I already have all the furniture and it’s super cute ❤ I also got the amiibo cards from the Welcome amiibo series because they also come in vans with furniture but when I use those the items don't come out on the Telenook, it lets me invite the neighbor but I don't see the furniture nowhere, do you know if those don't work in New Horizons?

I invited Marty two times to my campsite and made him his diys, but I'm having second thoughts because I don't have the heart to kick one of my other villagers out.. Will I be able to invite him again in the future? And will it just reset? Or will he not be able to move to my island anymore?
I got my cards from a seller on etsy, all 6 sanrio villagers for only $12.99 (with shipping about 17) and tbh I couldn’t find the originals anywhere for a regular price. I’d rather pay a seller on Etsy who’s trying to make sure we can all play then people who sell them for 7x the original price lol.

If you know how to work eBay you can get the cards for free and screw the sellers over who are price gouging

I got them off Etsy. The way I look at it, I would gladly buy the official ones if Nintendo actually produced enough to find them. I would have picked the official ones from Target if I thought I had snowballs chance in hell of finding them. Which clearly it was an issue with this launch. I honestly don't understand why it's so hard for Nintendo to produce a lot more of them so we can skip buying the knock offs. It's fine if someone wants to make a stand and never buy non-official but I don't get the shaming of others who do because they want to, in this instance, enjoy the characters/stuff on their island too and can't possibly find the officials without supporting scalpers. Anywho. No regrets. Nintendo has received plenty of money from me thus far - and they'd get more if I could find the $6 card packet in store, LOL...

1. Nintendo did their usual thing and undersupplied the market giving scalpers the chance to charge $100 a pack.
2. Nintendo doesn't care that many people missed out on these cards.
3. Nintendo loses out on $$$ because bootleggers have a big market because Nintendo undersupplies.

never used an amiibo before, but borrowed my friend's sanrio ones. if i get all the items in my catalogue from adding them as a villager, will their sanrio-specific items stay in my catalogue if they leave? alternatively, if i invite them to harv's island so they don't have to actually move into my island, will their stuff stay in my catalogue too? thanks for the informative vid :)

I bought mine from Walmart’s website for $16 because I couldn’t find them at target and I was able to get them pretty quickly!
at my local store in Tasmania they’re so easy to get, you can just walk into the shop and get them for $10 anyday u like. I got mine today lol
I ordered mine on the My Nintendo store since EB Games sold out when I was able to afford them

Can animal crossing amiibos from previous games work on the switch? I’ve seen the amiibos be described as for New Leaf and not say anything about New Horizons. I’m wondering if any of the amiibo cards work for the switch
Yes. The other Animal Crossing amiibo cards will work. That’s how I got some of my villagers

The Australia, EU ones are different packaging then the US one, its also official from Nintendo. You might want to clarify that.
The packaging for the Australian release is the same picture and coloured pack but it comes in a foil packet rather than card.
I’ve used my other amiibo cards in my BOTW game to get free items but would these work the same?
I doubt you’d get special items like in ACNH but would you at least get food or arrows after using them?
Remember if you DO NOT have a Nintendo BRAND Joycon You CAN NOT scan Amiibo don't let people tell you your NEW Amiibo is broken. off brand Joycons DO NOT work!
I personally prefer Official made items, that’s just me. I was luckily able to obtain a pack, but if I couldn’t, I would’ve probably gotten them from Etsy, they work JUST THE SAME. I just wanted the Official since I have wanted them since New Leaf.
I'm glad I waited. About a year late but I found a literal pile of Sanrio cards at my local target while grocery shopping and just picked them up. I'm not even a huge animal crossing fan or a Hello Kitty/Sanrio fan but I figured these might become a little rare in the far far future so I picked up like 2 packs.

I'm so happy. So the day of launch someone was giving away their extra packs in reddit. I didn't get a pack, but someone who had an extra pack as well as they looked at the comments for the giveaway. They saw I mentioned I didn't have a Target... Not a lie... No Target in my town or near me. So they asked me if I wanted them and I said yes. They arrive on April 2nd. I can't wait. I want Toby, Etoile and Marty so badly. They're so cute.

Rather than spending $50 to scalpers, I just paid $100 to buy 30 packs of original japanese version. The japanses scalpers only able to charge double the price because nintendo japan prints more.

If you go to Harv and scan each of them you will get all the furniture items or you can do it one by one at the camp Just saying

Also I wanted to let you know Abdullah that you can get all the items in your Nook’s Shopping guide in one sitting if you go to Harv’s island. I hadn’t invited anyone to my campsite. I went to get the posters and that gave me access to all the items. Way faster. Invite the camper only if you actually want to see the character

Does the scanned character stay for the three days of making them gifts? Or do I need to scan the same resident in for the three days?
You need to scan them every day until they ask to move in on the 3rd day, and if you don’t give them the item on time, you have to start over from the beginning I believe

I already have all the furniture and it’s super cute ❤ I also got the amiibo cards from the Welcome amiibo series because they also come in vans with furniture but when I use those the items don't come out on the Telenook, it lets me invite the neighbor but I don't see the furniture nowhere, do you know if those don't work in New Horizons?
In New Horizons, the amiibo cards from the welcome amiibo series only give you the villagers,not the furniture.

I was so stupid and slept on the sanrio amiibos from my local game store, because I had no clue that the villagers were going to be available in game hahahah
I invited Marty two times to my campsite and made him his diys, but I'm having second thoughts because I don't have the heart to kick one of my other villagers out.. Will I be able to invite him again in the future? And will it just reset? Or will he not be able to move to my island anymore?
I got my cards from a seller on etsy, all 6 sanrio villagers for only $12.99 (with shipping about 17) and tbh I couldn’t find the originals anywhere for a regular price. I’d rather pay a seller on Etsy who’s trying to make sure we can all play then people who sell them for 7x the original price lol.
