I’m a new leaf OG and this is how I have the Sanrio cards lol. When I was younger, I had a friend who I hung out with all the time. We played all the Nintendo games together. I would get Pokémon Diamond, she would get pearl, I would get Pokémon black, she would get Pokémon white, and we both considered each other best friends. She came back from a trip in Japan and got ahold of 3 Sanrio cards, which were Marty, Etoile, and Chai. She also let me use these cards, and we got the villagers on our new leaf town. We would keep playing everyday, until she suddenly moved without warning. Never got the chance to give her back those Sanrio cards, so I keep them as a reminder of what used to be our friendship. So luckily, when the update came out, I was able to get them on my island almost instantly. Edit: Closing up my little giveaway in the comments section XD, hopefully all of you guys enjoy your new items!

Edit - little fun fact! The Keroppi doll (the ghost looking thing in the box) is actually based off (read: looks identical) to a teru teru bōzu, or shiny bald head doll, as it was supposed to look like a bald monk. These were made by Japanese farmers in olden times (though some rural and city families still make them today) that would supposedly ward off bad weather or bring sunny days, so farmers crops would grow better! If bad weather did come, they are/were traditionally soaked in sake (Japanese rice wine) and washed down the river. The Pokemon Chingling and it’s evolution, Chimeco, are also based off this little doll! This video is so helpful! The Sanrio brand has never really appealed to me (it’s probably targeted at a younger age range than me too lol) but some of these items are AMAZING! Guess I’ll be seeing if it’s easy to get the amiibo locally or online! I can already see the amiibo cards being sold individually (e.g. just the hello kitty or just the my melody card) on sites like eBay as oppose to the pack 🙄
I think it's funny how he keeps calling the Kero Kero Keropi pin a snowman.. it's actually a type of charm the Japanese use called a "teru teru bozu." Children usually make these as a charm to ask for sunny days/rain to go away. Especially before a special occasion! They are made with tissue paper and hung in the window. The face is drawn only after you have received the sunny day you asked for as a sign of gratitude! :) Also, fun fact- "kero kero" is an onomatopoeia for a frog croak. The more you know, I guess lol
I live in Canada. They were up for pre-orders on Best Buy and Amazon back on Feb 25th (Sanrio Trailer drop day). For Best Buy the pre-orders sold out by the 27th. There was no announcement about it, I only found out on the 25th after a friend told me.
@@maryj4ne I'm assuming you bought packs of regular villager amiibo cards. For the Sanrio villagers, the pack has to be one that says Sanrio on it in order to get them.
My favorite is a toss up between Etoile and Marty, but my favorite items actually come from Tobys set. They’ll be the easiest to use outside and decorate my island with. Overall I’m loving this update!

Kerroppi is my absolute favorite. Used to watch the cartoon. Have to say the stone lantern and the rubber boots are my favorites. I live in Canada and am going to try my hardest to get those cards.
My favorite Sanrio characters since I was a kid are Keroppi, My Little Twin Stars and Purin. I really love the Keroppi set in ACNH, will definitely try to get the cards for myself.
I'm so happy they put PomPomPurin as one the characters, was really hoping for Gudetama as well cause both are my favorites and even have tattoos of both! Maybe he'll be added later on?

I don’t have any Sanrio cards, but a friend on Twitter did get me a Cinnamoroll Jacket! I really like that it has a ribbon on it and it’s part of my character’s main look now!
I've had these cards laying around forever and I'm happy they finally let us put them to use 😊👍 I love all the clothing items, super cute. I don't think you need an empty slot to invite them though, usually when inviting them via amiibo it let's you choose which villager to get rid of 😊

My husband said he would go to targets the morning of release. Targets is about 7 minutes from our house. I am going to have him buy 3 packs if he can. I hope all of them will be in those few. I want to leave some for other shoppers. I would just get 2 but I’m worried I wouldn’t get them all.hopefully others will have consideration as well. People emptying shelves just to hold the cards hostage for more money is not right. Love these characters and items. Good luck everyone . I can hardly wait!!!!!

My top 3 favorite Sanrio sets and villagers are the star set, cinnamon roll set and pudding set. Favorite item from the star set is the cloud bed. Favorite item from cinnamon roll set is the sofa. Favorite item from the pudding set is the pudding itself. Those are my top 3 favorites number one favorite is the star set I love stars and they did amazing job with the furniture and clothes not to mention the wall and floor for that set plus it fits both of my island themes so well. I can’t wait to get my Sanrio cards I bought mine off of Amazon so fingers crossed they work.
I love keroppi and was so excited to see his set but honestly I felt they could have done more they went all out with the other characters and they were nice and colorful and the keroppi didn’t even come with a bed! This is just my opinion and maybe some others like it
