Good to know the base trim might not have the tap code unlock. Commented earlier today that I had a camp buddy's son lock her fob inside. I don't know if she had a base trim but she called a lock guy for the car. Maybe she had to do that after all, but I said look for the button and look if she can set it up. This brand of car is so friendly to camping situations where you want to go off somewhere and not lose your keys.

They should have put the rear gate kick sensor off to the side (or one on each side) so that it would work with the trailer hitch installed. Also, my 2019 Forester allowed for a two position rear gate height. I lost this useful feature on my '22 Outback Wilderness. Seems like it's gone here too. Resetting the height based on whether I park on the driveway or in my garage is an annoying pain. And while I'm at it.... there's room on the home screen for a Max A/C button. When you get in an oven hot car, you don't want to be futzing around with menus!
I like the new solid shelf, if it can fit down on top of or under the cargo tray, I'd do that and put the roller cover away. My gripe with the power liftgate here, is that a hitch makes you lose foot activation, they should keep the emblem sensor one like they have in OB. Sure, the masses aren't going to get a hitch, but something they could have thought about with the generally outdoorsy buyers.
I know this is not a good idea but, we have always kept our master key inside of our car and locke the doors. We figured out that we can keep the fob in the car and use the app to lock and unlock the doors. This makes it so we are not carrying clunky fobs around with us. Question. In Alaska 10 minutes on the car start is not enough to warm the car up at 50° below. If we get the fob with the auto start in the key will it run longer than the 2 10 minute sessions?
Hi Alex ! Thank you for all your videos! I'm learning a lot I have a question Ive had my 2025 Forester a week and took it to the dealership to install a rear view dimming mirror. The side dimming mirrors are back ordered Now the turn signal lights on the side mirrors don't work .Called the dealership and they don't know why its now not working??? Any ideas 💡 Thanks
They probably didn't plug them back in. My guess is they took the mirrors off for some reason and never plugged the wires back in afterwards....easy check to see if that's the case, try adjusting the mirrors, if they don't adjust then that's what they did was just didn't plug them back in.
I believe the rear + side dimming mirrors are functionally a "unit." In other words, a software compatibility issue. Maybe they should have waited to install the mirror until the side mirrors arrived.
Rear Camera. Why is it showing half screen only? It wasn't like that when we bought it. I first noticed it when I backed up early in the morning, around 6;00AM, when it was still dark, so I thought maybe it's just reminding me that it's early. Yet it didn't come back to full view. I read the manuals and can't find an answer. What adjustments do I need to flip the view from half to full?
Hi Alex, Any idea when Subaru will address the fusebox labeling issue under the dashboard. I spoke to a lot of owners where the fuse box label on the fusebox door does not match the fusebox fuses.
It is on option for the Premium and up. I just ordered a Touring and still had to pay extra for the exterior auto dimming side mirrors. Has to have an auto dimming rear view to go with it too.

Hi Alex. I recently got a 2023 Forester Touring (Canada - so I think that's a Premium trim in the USA). Can you explain the levels of headlights? The wand has "Off" but it's spring loaded so you can't stay in the off position. The default level seems to be like high beams. The "Auto" setting is a lower light level. Then there's what I assumed was high beams - it appears (from the driver's seat) to be like the default setting. Pushing the wand forward you get mega extra crazy harnessing-the-sun level lights. I don't do a lot of night driving, but I'm nearly always getting flashed by passing cars who believe I am driving with high beams all the time.
I may be wrong but, what you assume to be high beams are you low beam headlights. You would run these around town, anywhere in fact. When you push the wand forward you are activiating your HIGH beams. Yes they should never be used when oncoming traffic is coming towards you. It blinds them, hence they are flashing you because they are correct, you are driving with high beams on. Leave it on Auto, you will have daytime running lights on and the car will autimatically turn on your headlights at night. Use your very bright high beams only when there is no oncoming traffic.
