Dude, thanks so much for posting this (and to Vetinari77). Soon as I was shown the Prognosticar mechanic, my filthy inner min-maxxer NEEDED to know the most optimum coverage.
Special thanks to [GOO]The_Happy_Hostage for starting the Quest for the perfect Prognosticar distribution with his 32 System coverage map. Special thanks also to Vetinari77 for his 33 System layout(featured in the video) If you want to join the Steam discussion about Prognosticar Layout: steamcommunity.com/app/1611910/discussions/0/3276942370886685280/
Alternatively the center can be covered a bit less as you always kinda pass there while traversing to the other side of the map. So if you position your ship more central you often get to the uncovered planet first while the outer planets have cover. I just started a new campaign and am trying this out, also have to mention that you can obtain 160% ship speed by day 135.
What Day is it? Have you tried advancing time a little? Edit: Oh, you probably figured this out already, but if you have just started a new campaign, you need to advance until about Day 6 when the manufactorum opens, once you are able to choose systems to repair you need to repair the Augarium, then you will be able to use your Prognosticars.
i guess there is no way to take away the pronosticar out of the planet u attuned it, first campaing almost forces you to place it wherever, not really thinking hard of it, feels a tad weird to me but thanks
Y'ZHEIM seems like the best one to start for me, as it's right next to where my missions are. The list I have goes like this. ALMARICH Y'ZHEIM FIDES UR-TET CAALEPH PENTAGRAST So I would just be skipping the first one. I assume I can just grab the first 2 out of order though, right? Would totally make more sense to me to drop it where I have 3 missions currently, rather than drop it where I'm not even based right now. Or do you literally have to make a specific chain with them, so I can't get back Almarich if I go to Y'zheim first. I guess I'll have to test it.
Yes, good thinking! it's probably best to repair the augurium first, but don't place it until the first three missions drop. Then place the first one in whichever spot will let you hit more missions in the first lot...if it wont help you hit an extra mission before they expire then just save it until the second round of missions. I think I will do this next time. You can grab them in any order. Almarich just covers the most systems so it's the "best" if you don't know where the missions will spawn but I think just waiting and placing AFTER the mission pops is the way to go, especially if you are not turtling and intentionally slowing the story progression.
@@MercytheMad tonight imma try to Uninstall and reinstall, but i haven't heard or read of others having this issue. i was able to install the first one you get after repairing ship, but thats it
I just got to the expanded map after beating the first "boss" stage, but I have no prognostcars. I remember setting one and the game quickly skimming over them and then it was just gone and I have not seen any since! How is that possible and how to I get more / get them back. I have researched much of the support systems and a couple personnel systems. I have not done any defense systems - is this where I am missing out on them?
You have to repair the Augurium (on your ship) to get your first one, then you get one more every time you upgrade the Augurium. You can permanently lose one if you choose to sacrifice one in a text dilemma during the game, but more usually they just get temporarily disabled and you have to either repair the Augurium again, or wait until the warp storm or whatever has passed and they come back.
@@MercytheMad Thank you. Not sure how I missed that and it does seem I have lost one somehow. I'm not sure when or where, but I do not have one now and have not had it for quite some time! Hopefully it shows back up at some point...
any idea if progonosticar is destroyed if connected system get exterminatus? Or just core system? Spread of Prognosticars might prevent you from being able to use it.
Not sure sorry, haven't had one destroyed yet. If you can catch one of my livestreams that's the place to ask, there will usually be a few guys in chat that are extremely knowledgable.
Would you mind giving me the names of the planets labeled here? It's a bit easier for me to remember them that way since I can write them down rather than constantly alt-tabbing between the game and this video.
I think when you are preparing for a mission, just becore you launch the mission you change them at the top middle of the screen. Not sure if you can do it between missions.
Well...I focused on construction so by the time the 2nd phase began I had all teh prognosticars allocated....soooo..yeah....don't attune more than 2 prognosticars in the first part of the game.
The game does an extremely poor job of explaining this to us. I started the game, straight from the beginning on legendary grandmaster and I'm now wondering if i should restart because I've already placed 2 of these prognosticgars
No, I placed 2 before I know what I was doing and I am nearly finished the campaign on LL/GM. it was not at all fatal. In fact when I restart I think I will not prioritise Prognosticars that much early. @Omkara Hellcore Fight On, the bitter end. Never Surrender!
@@MercytheMad yeah I just prefer doing things absolutely perfect, but on the other hand, life is messy, so it he 40k universe. I`ll just keep on fighting ;)
Be a bit wary of telling people who don't play the game about this sort of thing. They'll nod and smile but will be really puzzled about what you are talking about unless you show them this clip.
@@MercytheMad Was musing about how far apart what war gamers do and the general public is. If you try to explain gaming just by a description its crazy hard to get it across but I reckon if you can show them a map board, some figures or a stream they've a better chance.
@@MercytheMad Nah, I think you've got the balance right, the clip introduces the basic idea and adapts it for the expanded map, then urges people to expend some effort and try it. Its well paced, informative and accurate. Think the root of this is I'd just seen a clip of Henry Cavill explaining WH40K to an adoring audience. War gaming has come a long way since the seventies when it was assumed you had to be an evil genius to want to do it.
This is so helpful, thanks! At higher difficulties, having optimal prog placement is soooo useful.
Glad it helped!

That's awesome. Thanks mate :)
Sick. I placed one on the system to the far right before I knew they were finite. Got lucky when the map expanded.
Haha , nice!
20 hours in and i didint even know this existed. thanks
No Problem!
Day 712 and I just found this out, no joke

Best six planets to place Prognosticars are..Fides II,Amalrich VI,Y'zeheim VI,Caaleph IV,Pentragast VI,Ur-tet II.
Cheers!
can you pick the Progrosticars from the planets or are they for ever bound to it?

for some reason, i cant attune my prognosticar. i have two, but attune button is greyed out everywhere. anyone have this issue and how to fix it?
You have to click attune, and then click on a planet and then it will light up. If you already tried that, then I guess maybe its a bug?
@@MercytheMad i have done that, ive even tries across multiple save files to see if it was just my save file bugged

I also have only the nr 3

So prognosticar are one time use, or you can relocated as is needed after you place it on the early game.?
one use only
You cannot reallocate, they are placed permanently.
So the benefits of the prognosticar last for the entire game? Didn't know that.
yep. Although warpstorms can temporarily knock them out.
thank you for this! im restarting my game because i put my Prognosticars in really bad spots
You don't need t restart, I just finished legendary with only two prognosticars in non-optimal spots (but in my new game I am placing them optimal)
