- In this OBAN Isawa GLD Vs Graphite Design TOUR AD DI 6 - SHOWDOWN video, we'll be comparing and contrasting the two shaft designs. Which one is better? We'll show you right here.
Finally someone with my swing speed. Just got the TSR3 with the DI shaft. Pumped.
Great combo
Oban white, my 1st true love
Dreamy 😍😂
I've been looking to pick up an orange GD shaft for ages (purely because I like the look of it) but they don't seem to be getting any cheaper despite being a fairly old shaft at this stage.
Still great materials and this does come at a cost
Buy used? I just got one for $150
It’s been upgraded with new materials but it’s the same profile is why
I have graphite design AD DI in my driver and 3 wood and 3 hybrid I just love the smoth feeling but help control spin
Great shafts
Great video... Thanks! Were you using a 9* head? Additionally, I love the ad di 85 in my hybrid. How often does that translate to working in the fairways and driver?
It was a 9 degree head. On the hybrid shaft front it is actually quite rare to match shafts through now as the head sizes and therefore the properties that the shafts need varies
Currently using qi10 9 ° with ventus black 6x, struggle to control and low on distance, spin is high. Ss 105 +-. Looking for AD DI 5x or 6s, what you recommend ? Thanks
The high spin could be the head and your strike point as the Qi10 is high spin out of the heel. Really can’t say what weight would be best but the DI 6 is still a little lighter and less tip heavy than the Ventus Black 6X (OG profile that is) but equally the 5 X could work for you too. Sorry I can’t be more definite
Hi , how would the isawa gld 6s profile stack up against ventus tr red 6s . For Cobra . And which would you recommend for a 100/105 swing with short backswing .
Love the channel , hope to get down country one day for a fitting . 😊
I cannot recommend one I am afraid but the Isawa GLD will feel a little smoother as the Ventus TR is stiffer in the handle but the tip sections are quite similar. It will feel like you can work the Ventus harder and it will hold on tighter as a result but the Isawa will feel like it gives you a bit more back
Hi, how would you say the tour ad compares to vista pro in the same stiffness and weight (65g stiff). A relatively straight swap but with much higher quality in the tour ad? Thanks.
Tour AD will be a lot smoother feeling and is designed as a firmer tip but softer mid section. Vista Pro uses the tip more to get the “kick” so should be slightly higher spin
I love my TZ6, which graphite design is closest to a TX6?
If it is 1st Gen TZ6 then from a bend profile point of view the XC or GP series are closest but the weight will be different so will not directly compare as they will swing differently
Just came across your channel, man lucky me, love technology in the golf game equipment, I game the DI 50 on TSR 3 and I game a Cobra F9 with Oban Purple reg 65 grams i believe , funny I happened to go and get fitted at a big name company as a beginner golfer, he fit me into the F9 and Oban purple at 44 3/4 lenth, I had no idea what I was looking at with Data, but I trusted the fitter, cost me one thousand dollars for the driver around 500 for shaft and 500 for driver head, the F9 was a new release so that long ago, I cursed this dude the whole way home, you know what I still have the driver and nothing has come close to its numbers or consistency lol, that's how much i knew about the data that came up on his screen, but it has a new challenger, TSR 3 with upgraded DI 5.0 , 45 inches in lenth, idk I called Tietilist company and online gave them my specs I wanted,, and driver arrived exactly how inorder it, struggling with a few injuries so next year the challenge is on, lol Thanks man great content,
Glad you are enjoying it and thanks for the message. The lighter weight might swing easier post injuries but the Oban is a great shaft - I have used the Kiyoshi Purple 75 in my fairway for years!
Have you by any chance done a test of the Graphite Design Tour AD IZ shafts? Oddly enough, I have both the AD IZ 6S and the AD IZ 5R1 that I have been interchanging in my Callaway GBB Epic Sub Zero 10.5 degree driver head. I got both of them because they were sold for just $100 each, way way below retail, when my range took down the fitting cart for that model year and put them in the discount rack. Also got the head new and unused for a great price. The 6S Stiff weighs 63 grams, torque 3.2, mid kick point, high launch, low spin. The 5 R1 regular weighs 54 grams, torque 4.5, mid kick, high launch, low spin. I have recently been comparing results with the two at the PGA Superstore practice bays that use Foresight overhead monitors to provided data (everything except club speed and efficiency, which require data dots and their Trackman in the fitting studio). I have felt I got good results on course from the stiff shaft for the past two or three years. However, I will be 82 in two months and there really is no escaping that I should use a lighter shaft with a regular flex. The data on Saturday made it pretty clear. I hit driver after over 100 balls with wedges and 7 iron, so was warmed up but not fresh. Used my own Titleist ProV1x ball. With the 6S shaft, my best result was ball speed 120.3, carry 192, total 216, back spin 1985, launch angle 16.4. After that I changed to the 5R1 shaft. My best result was ball speed 124, carry 205, total 227 (and one 236 with same carry), back spin 2281, launch angle 18. So yeah, time to give up the idea of an old geezer like me hitting a stiff 63 gram shaft. And I can see from the video cam they have just installed that there is a lot of room for improvement in my swing and am working on it. I think I can get an extra 5 yards or so of carry if I can improve my body mechanics.
Hi John. We’ve not reviewed that profile yet, but we certainly can do. Thanks for your comments as always.
Love these comparison videos, what shaft is comparable to a hzrdus blue rdx smoke ?
Accra RPG HBP 362, Mitsubishi Tensei 1k Pro Orange 60 will be the closest match for low spin and counter-balance profile
Would love to see oban devotion 6. Since nowhere here has them to demo.
That’s been a great shaft for years! Not their newest so some fitters may not stick it but we have had consistent results from it
Great video - I have the Oban Isawa GLD in my 3 wood and 5 wood, love the shaft - I also play an Accra TZ6 in my driver and prefer the responsiveness in my fairway woods, even though it's a great and stable shaft, I'm unable to feel the load on the Accra as much as I can with Oban shafts.
Would it make sense to play a more similar shaft in the driver to match the feel of my fairway woods? From this video it looks like a Tour AD DI 6 could work really well as my driver shaft to compliment my fairway woods. (TSi2 Driver)
Feel is important and influences confidence a lot. If you prefer the more responsive feel then a Tour AD (other than VF!) will certainly give you that
Great review Simon.....have you done any reviews on the Myazaki shafts you get in the Srixon line of Drivers? I have one and its blooming awesome just wondered how you guys rate them compared to maybe more bespoke , (expensive) shafts on the market!! The one i have seems to be very difficult to find ive not seen another despite many hrs of Internet surfing.
Miyazaki shafts are only available in Srixon clubs as there is no other distribution for them which is why you cannot find them anywhere. They are good quality shafts but as only available in a Srixon head it is not one that is worth a lengthy comparison. They are good quality though and generally a fairly responsive feel
@@Precision_Golf thanks for reply yes mine is in a Srixon driver and was aware of them solely being used in there drivers!! I have found a few companies online selling just the shafts alone and also found the Myazaki site where you can buy them direct. I know every shaft suits the individual depending on how it works for them but even other guys who I play with have hit the driver and raved about the feel and response of my particular shaft.....id be intrigued to see how they compare to the other manufacturers.
How much difference between the Graphite Design Tour AD DI-6X and the 6S?
Only a couple of grams heavier in the X flex and it will feel slightly firmer
You appear to be praising the Oban shaft more than the ADDI, which delivered better numbers? I have the ADDI in both my fairways - feels awesome. You can feel the shaft load and kick at impact. It will take anything you throw at it. Smooth, stable and powerful.
The Oban does look cool in the colour scheme.
Can you do more of these shaft reviews please Simon? They are great 👍
They are both great shafts, I guess the DI having been around a number of years needed less explaining about than the Oban!
Will certainly do more of them when we get a chance
@@Precision_Golf Great stuff. Can you review the Ventus Velocore vs Mitsubishi.
👍👍👍
If GD had got THE shaft a decade ago, then no need to fix what’s not broken. Doubt our swings evolved last 10 years that makes AD DI obsolete. Big ups to OBAN but I’ve been a faithful GD user (tried the Ventus and Diamanas) but had better numbers with GD AD DI. Get a good fitter and thanks for the vid❤
There is always a commercial desire from all manufacturers (both head and shaft) to be seen to be developing product but once a shaft works for you it only stops working for you when your swing changes in either technique or strength. As you say great shafts don’t stop being great shafts just because time has passed and a good fitter will also be honest if they cannot beat what you already have! Glad you enjoyed the video
A shaft video and they don't talk about goes or weight?? Next.
Hi David. Our content is free for you to watch
Same old crap - data without impact location. Useless. Just shows us how you did. Shows nothing about the shafts.
Shaft data is very hard to gather as the results rely so heavily on the head style so unless you own an Iron Byron we have to rely on human testing. Sorry if you did not enjoy the video but please understand we are just trying to get information out there without bias and have many requests for these types of comparisons
