Amazing video...been waiting for this video for a long time. I wish they included the VR shaft in there as well as the profile is rated at 3+ | 2+ | 3 (handle to tip), which is a stiffer IZ and would match Ian's profile. Maybe another comparison video with Mikey hitting all the GD shafts to see which ones are better suited for him vs the ones that were better suited for Ian?
I’ve been looking forward to this one since Ian first floated the idea of a big Graphite Design roundup a long time ago! I’ve played all of these shafts but the CQ and new VF. My favorite Graphite Design driver shaft is the HD. I like blueboards and find it to feel like it’s in a somewhat similar neighborhood to the Fujikura Speeder NX Blue. That strong mid kick just syncs well with my swing. Typing this as I’m watching the video, so I’m eager to see what Ian says about it the HD. Also love the DI and UB in fairway woods! I have a DI 8X in an Apex UW and it’s a fantastic combo. The XC is the only one I didn’t like, purely because that super-soft handle just didn’t suit my swing. Two that might not be “current” but shouldn’t be slept on: the VR has a very slightly higher balance point, which I found made it a great pairing with a Ping driver head. Loved it with the G425. And the TP is one you can get for only $125 USD through Callaway right now, which is really a steal.
Having watched the full video now, glad to see Ian did well with the HD! The only comment I maybe didn’t quite agree with is the brief comparison of the UB to the XC, though Ian was really just referring to butt stiffness there. To me, the UB feels and perorms much more like an updated DI - slightly firmer throughout and newer materials, but a very similar profile. (Medium/medium/stiff in the DI, medium+/medium+/stiff+ in the UB.) Great video!
Was in a Diamana D+ limited 6X prior to this season in stealth plus playing at 44.5” but this season switched back to Titleist TSI3 and was fitted with UB 6X cut down to 44.5” and it’s a fwy finder. The dispersion was extremely tight ball flight was very consistent and long. Feel was absolutely amazing. Tried the Ventus 6X blue and to me it just wasn’t as tight as liked it to be. UB just fit everything I was looking for.
The TP!!!! I got fitted into this one at a PXG fitting. This is a monster shaft. Feels like the Diamana ZF (GT) at impact (if you’ve never experienced a ZF at impact you need to…BUTTER) spun a little less and tightened my dispersion. TP4life (most likely a month)
Ian and Mikey bringing the heat once again! This video is 🔥. Both the UB and XC are excellent fits for in my TSR 3 driver and 3W. Keep up the great work gentlemen!! 🙌👍👍🙌
What’s interesting is I was at Roger Dunn in Monrovia California and I bought or was about to buy a tailor-made burner and it happened to have a tour -6 shaft and it had a price tag of $55 and so I bought it and then the staff saw it and said that was mispriced😂😂. They honored the price and let me walk away with essentially a total of a $350 club.
OK from here on out, we can all picture the shaft. You guys are talking about in our minds, but Mid and tip number number number this is gonna make it much easier for us understanding what shaft characteristics you’re talking about
great video! would have liked a little discussion on the TX vs X flex with Tour AD shafts. I think the X is more like a Stiff+ and the TX is a true X/X+ in comparison to other vendors. i use a HD 7TX in my 3W and absolutely love how it loads, the color match with with Sim2 Ti and the tight dispersion. the HD is really is an underrated shaft.
I got the same shaft in stealth plus tipped .25 of an inch on both butt/tip, it has the blue face . Looks so clean but the shaft performa even better🔥 underrated af i love it! Everyone plays ventus😂
I have the GOAT Tour AD DI 6s on my TSR2 - went for the Black and White colourway to match up with the driver head better. Fantastic shaft, very stable and consistent 👍
Love this test guys. I'm very similar to Fras and the DI works in 7x tipped 1". The UB and IZ are better in 6tx than 6x. Thanks for the excellent content.
Love this video, and have wanted it for a while! I've become a bit of a Graphite Design fanboy, starting with the DI in my SIM UDI driving 3 iron, and recently with the BB in my 3 wood. The BB8x I've got in the 3 Wood, while being a LOT of shaft, it's a BOMBER that has given me a bit of baby draw, and 20 extra yards consistently (while not ruining my gapping). I've loved my Tensei Orange in my driver, but I'm totally eyeing a Graphite Design to replace it... as soon as I have an off day, hahah.
YES! Been begging for this (selfishly!) for a long time. I play the AD UB 6x in my TSR3, AD DI 7x in TSi2 3 wood, and AD IZ 85x in my TSR3 hybrid. Thank you. 👍👍
@@TB-vz3oj the Ventus TR Blue feels more stable and less lively. The UB feels more explosive with a home run ball in it; feels like a slightly more stable version of the DI (I played the DI in the past). But the UB seems to get a little more offline. I am back in the TR Blue again!
And then everyone moans about how he’s stuck on his back foot and does XYZ wrong. It’s impossible to please everyone. We just have to make the testing as consistent as we possibly can so the results reflect the differences in the product not the differences from swing to swing.
I’ve always wondered, and not sure if this video really answers it, but do shaft companies have a “base model” that they tweak for different weight/flex categories? Or do they really make each model unique? For example, do they prototype/design a 65g stiff and then add/remove weight and materials to make it a 65x or 70 regular?
I have a Mitsubishi Fubuki K 70 series shaft that I've used in a couple different 3 woods, it just performs way better for me than the stock shafts that came with the clubs.
Great video. Please do a review and comparison of the GD Tour AD 55-115 Iron shafts? I'd like to see how they compare to Steelfiber and MMT. Thank you..
I have the cq in my driver and fairways 3 and 5 in the driver it’s tipped 1.5” and that really helped me with my dispersion the fairways are untipped it’s an amazing shaft if setup correctly
Had a Ventus Black 6x and it broke so I used a shaft from the club and I quite liked it. Ping Tour silver 65s. Obviously anything will feel more active than a Ventus Black but it was a nice change. What Tour AD model would be most similar to that Ping Tour 65S I tried?
Still play the M9003 6x and 7x in the driver. The P9003 8tx in a fairway, not sure why the profile and colorway has never been updated. Such a damn good series of shafts.
I’d love to see a video of testing these against what we average golfers would game off the shelf. Maybe a series of standard Ping shafts compared to Tour AD and so on. I play a G425 SFT with a Tensei orange 60-65 Stiff and have had good results. I built a Riptide small batch 50g Stiff and loved it and was able to make great contact and carry 295 with fairway hits at 55%. I’d love to get that percentage up but golf is hard. It’s so daunting to pick a shaft with all the data out there. Is there any chance you guys can make a video that shows the comparison of these offerings?
The video I was after 🙏🏼 I game tsr3 set at 9.25 degree with Hzrdus black 6.5 shaft and use pro v1 ball. I spin at around 2800 on a good strike hitting 1-2 up. What shaft do you recommend to try to drop the spin
Interesting that I do not see the AD-VR included. Has this model already been discontinued. For me it’s very similar to Diamana and Speeder lineups, particularly Diamana TB and Speeder NX. Quite very firm in handle, moderate midsection and firm at tip. The firm handle and softer mid & tip offers phenomenal feel while it’s still stable enough to be confidence inspiring. I tried the 5X version on launch monitor but struggled a bit on dispersion and high launch. I then tried it in my 3-wood. Worked flawlessly. I ended up in the Speeder NX 60TX but GDI VR was really impressive, as was Diamana. I’m a feel player so really appreciated the VR, especially compared to the Ventus Blue and Blue TR
Nice review. Where would you rate the stiffness profile for the AD-BB6s? It’s been my gamer for the past 10yrs starting with the Taylormade Jetspeed now in my M6.
Love this video. It is like you were checking my search history. I have the AD-IZ6 in my TSR3 driver and it is a beast for me and extremely consistent. However, I have stock shafts in my fairways (Stealth +) and can't keep those on the planet. I plan to get fit for fairways soon, but given this info what would be good fairway options? I have never used premium shafts in fairways or hybrid. Love Graphite Design, but am open to others.
Same lol spent the past 48 hours reading as much as I can about GD and blind bought the HD. Tried it out today and felt great! And I come back home to them uploading the video and HD turns out the best makes me feel better.
Hi guys, I’m currently using this setup: Fujikura Air Speeder 40R and Callaway Triple diamond night mode 10.5, i play it at 44.5 inch, C6.5 My swing speed is 95-99mph, i tend to hook it a lot, fly the ball low and have low spin usually
Other than the new VF and the now old GP, the GD shafts all play pretty soft Other than the classic DI you don’t see too many GD shafts on your probably bc they are softer. I’m assuming they have a bigger presence on the Japanese market
Nice video! This type of videos is what made the channel, not the “best of” series (are you trying to compete with mygolfspy? Their approach is silly, nothing worth copying). UA-cam needed this one. Community service here.
Graphite design is one of those companies they always have the feels but it's often overlooked.
A "best of" Shafts for Ian would be interesting. Ventus, GD, Diamana, etc.
Tour AD DI has to be my hands down favorite shaft model
Instant all-timer, by request from a few lives over the last couple years and the lads delivered!
Would be good to see comparison of the older models that are still valid and in play like BB, GP, GT, MJ, MT, TP, etc

Just got fitted to the HD 6X yesterday. Cant wait to get it and try it on the course. Amazing feeling shaft.

Just got a refit done on my driver and ended in the HD. It was so good
