WHAT?!? I literally just bought this exact same set up for my 96’ NSX-T! I received the DFV’s a few weeks ago but am waiting on the brakes. I stopped the video the instant I realized what it was as I want to go home, make myself a bowl of popcorn, and watch this on my big screen TV! Can’t wait to watch it!!
@@Zygrene oh man, I’m praying you see this message. Any chance you still have the instructions for the rear brake kit? Ours didn’t have it, we ran into a problem and we only the lift we’re using for the day. 😑 Can’t reach Sakebomb Garage as it’s a Saturday.
@@Zygrene Well, somethings up as we absolutely, positively could NOT get the rear brake kit to fit. Somehow the rear caliper was contacting the inside of the rear rotor. I’m sure Sakebomb Garage will get it all sorted out on Monday abs to their credit, their tech DID reach out to me today, unfortunately just a little too late! On a side note, do your front brake pads make any “clicking” or “tapping” noises when hitting bumps?
Haven’t watched the video yet, just super excited it’s here so I had to comment first. I’ve been following you for a long time now and I’ve been waiting for this build for such a long time. Super stoked for you to get here and have the opportunity to build a dream like this. I grew up in the 90’s, and the NSX was always the halo car for me. I can’t wait to see you take yours to the next level. Congrats!
I miss being at the shop daily, was the best time ever. Glad Heath/Travis/Chris and more are keeping that place moving. lol okok I talk to them almost daily but mann great times.
Thanks for this video. I've had my 91 NSX since 2005. It came with the JDM short gears and a 4.55 rear. Only other mod is the 95+ oem wheels. Might be time to update.
Beautiful! The NSX looks much nicer now. I want to take a drive to sakebomb too! Im almost on the same boat with my s2k, this will be my 6th year and mods i have is just a catback and some interior bits 😂 the catback i did in august 2022, so not long.
I love the mods you are doing and the car doesn't look like a monster truck anymore. Honestly some gears and a Ctsc will complete the oem+ road. Keep in mind the supercharger was a factory option
While I certainly understand and don't necessarily disagree with your post, the Comptech superchargers TECHNICALLY weren't a factory option. They were dealer installed accessories and Comptech essentially "mirrored" the factory warranty if their supercharger caused a failure. I know that may be splitting hairs and I was reluctant to even mention it, but it wasn't a "factory" option.
Modded NSX vs a Lotus Evora? Many folks claim the Evora is the best new old NSX you could buy - The Smoking Tire's Matt Farah included. I'd defer to NSX vs Emira if that's more feasible though. Anyway congrats on the build and I hope to see more of it!
I know that GT4 video is coming! But maybe old school mid engine king vs new school mid engine king(s) GT4/R8/McLaren. Old school playas to new school fools? Kast keep it jumpin…. Thanks for the great content
Wasn't super impressed by KW V3 on any of the platforms I've tried. KW Clubsport was a consideration, but the Sakebomb Ohlins GT spec just sounded like it would fit my use case for the car perfectly. I went with AP Racing mainly because it's what Sakebomb offers, but I also prefer it over Stoptech in terms of aesthetics. I'm sure Stoptech would have been more than enough for me.
Man the spring rate setting is probably a 80's philosophy( to be honest more like an old JDM philosophy)😳 Modern OE chassis philosophy tends to have a little bit higher spring rate in the rear I think..but still great video😊
For NSX, I read somewhere that the motion ratios suit a higher front spring rate vs rear. But I agree that spring rate is only part of the equation. Proper dampers and valving curves seem more important nowadays.
Keep in mind the rebuild schedule for the Ohlins, iirc it’s around 18k-25k miles, perhaps more often depending on road conditions and use. However, they’re not bad to service yourself, if you have the time. Otherwise you can pay for a shop to do it as well. That’s the only compromise compared to an OEM system that is designed to work 50k-100k miles.
Such a cool build! Really want to try some Ohlins road and track on a car as it seems that everyone loves them. Is that a V8 RS5 in your garage? Yours?
@@Zygrene Im ashamed I couldn’t tell the difference! Lol. Have you driven it? I’m torn between an RS3 and an A6 Allroad for my next family car. Absolutely love the sound of the 5 cylinder but the RS3 is a bit small.
@@Zygrene And I assume it’s a 2012 manual too?? I’d love to see you review it if you can, that car is pretty special! It was the last manual RS Audi ever made if I’m not mistaken.
If the gearset is so expensive, would swapping to a 6 speed and selling your low mileage 5 speed be an option? Also, any plans for sound mods on that beauty?
Recently saw a 6 speed listed at $8500. Unsure how much I would get for my 5 speed. Tempting though. Need to look into sound mods to complement my exhaust.
@@Zygrene I’m seeing a 1996 5 speed on Ebay with 79k miles for 7k. Not sure if that has the shorter gearset compared to yours, but clearly the value is there. Something to consider! Also, the swap will most likely add value to the resale of your car, the transmission being one of the main things that makes people pay more for later NSXs.
7 months later, has the Yen > USD exchange helped with this? If you can source direct in Japan, you’d skip the mark up that most US shops are adding when selling these parts.
NSX vs. New Lotus Emira as a comparison. Could the Emira be an attainable spiritual successor of the 1st Gen NSX?
Upvoting this one because it's the one I personally want to film 😁
@@Zygrene also maybe easier to do because you could potentially drive Kevin Jubbal's Emira?
@@TypeVertigo You know it
You should bring both the brz and nsx to a track day! Drive them light or hard, but compare them back to back on the track and the road.

Glad you're so happy with the outcome!
Big supporter of sakebomb, love their FD catalog
Long deserved! Excited for ya.
Super excited to drive your NSX and compare how the mods have changed driving dynamics =D
Please post up your alignment specs and ride height if you can. Expecting my Ohlins from Sakebomb in two weeks. Great channel.

How about a period comparison between nsx and Porsche 964
How does the new mods on NSX compare to your Porsche experience
Suspension wise, the NSX is on a totally different level now compared to the stock 987S and 997 on Bilstein PSS9 (absolute garbage suspension)
