I’m so glad that her daughter got older and was able to understand her mother’s struggles and to forgive her mother and I’m so glad that Nina got older and wiser and able to build on the time they had left together. My mother loved this Nina, I was very young, but theses UA-cam movies have helped me to understand why she was loved, I love her too.
Lore Bay did you watch the nina simone Netflix documentary because it didn't seem like her daughter gave a hoot about her. The daughter & her father spoke ill of her
Such a beautiful insight into the life of one the most beautifully gifted artists. Truly a gem. As Get older her music her story resonates with me more. Rest in power Miss Simone ❤
Nina is a vocal legend who produced an extensive catalogue of work throughout her life which will last forever to show future generations what a star she was.
This documentaty made me go through all sorts of emotions just like Nina's art. Thanks for sharing it! Such an inspiration and pure genius. The one who said it was not genius just talent you don't know anyhing about art.
Thanks Nina for writing YOUNG GIFTED AND BLACK, you would never know what it meant to my generation and those after. Her daughter looks like her mother. R I P Madam.
It's like she commands everything around her especially that piano. I never heard anybody play the piano like her. Now this is a performer. Not the boots flashing objects we see on bet
I thank you through the tears, for allowing me to watch this. My love for this women, a goddess! Is something I will never be able to put in words. Her music alone is worth praise, but her passion surpasses all artists of her time. Your fans, family, daughter, and your daddy know you love them. Thank you. RIP XXXX
For all her capriciousness brought about by society and her personal battles, it's her vulnerability that I find fascinating as well as her talent as a singer.
this was sublime, eye-opening, informative, deeply moving, and a stunning piece about one of the greatest artists to live thank you very much for sharing
Who needs a silly Movie of Nina Simone done in Black face and prosthetics. I got through 4:18 of that ridiculous flick! However, this "Nina - The Legend" was AMAZING!!!! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for posting this documentary of Nina Simone I have only seen the one on Netflix's . I just had a thought even though she was very upset about being turned down for the scholarship to become a classical pianist it forced her to create her own voice & style that probably reached a lot more people world wide than if she had just been in the classical music world. Just a thought I had after watching this wonderful documentary of her life. Thank you again for sharing this.
It seems like people who are extremely smart and talented have battles with their inner self. Maybe their brains are always running with ideas and never resting to enjoy to the scenery.
Dream Deferred What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up Like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore-- And then run? Does it stink like rotten meat? Or crust and sugar over-- like a syrupy sweet? Maybe it just sags like a heavy load. Or does it explode? Langston Hughes
thank you SO much for posting these videos! this series, "the legend", is astounding. it has brought a NEW meaning to the words NINA SIMONE, for me. thank you. i'm a performer (check out my channel), and nina simone is one of my models! she is just superb! she lives on through people like you, who post her videos. through people like me who keep her music alive in performance. through people like us who keep the dream alive. thank you! :)
Did Nina manage to own a house eventually? From one of her interviews she said she needed the money to buy this that, to give to her mum and a house to go back to after a show instead of just an apartment?
@FUCKMRCH... Re race tabs, as it were, on music: So . . . Am I to understand your question to mean that Curtis did not take her because of her talent, but because of her race? If not, no worries. If so, then, I would suggest this: Let us begin with one following one's own moral insight by taking race out of the music, shall we. Otherwise, the great hope for color-free music cannot float. It will catch a wire, explode, and crash land, just as handily the Hindenburg "event".
Great singer and pianist... When you divide music into "white music" and "black music" you provoke racism... Music shouldn't be labelled by the colour of a person's skin - it doesn't make any sense. Let's enjoy the music together and stop generalising. I think Simone did many great things in the fight against racism, but i am a bit unsure whether Curtis insitute didn't chose her just because she was black. She has just become better and better over the years - and what a result !
Always alone, at home or in a crowd...i can relate

im going to change the genre label in my ipod that has been given to Nina from "jazz" "soul" to BLACK CLASSICAL MUSIC. because she deserves it.
Can watch this over and over again. Such a powerful woman!

I'm so glad that Nina lived and was able to do what she did for The United States and the world. She was a beautiful soul and will be loved forever.

She’s was an amazing singer, but also on the piano. I wish she would have done a classical Album.
It's like she commands everything around her especially that piano. I never heard anybody play the piano like her. Now this is a performer. Not the boots flashing objects we see on bet

Did anybody get the cheeky irony at the end? WHITE musicians playing for an audience of BLACK elites, and the High Priestess at the piano. perfect!
O negro é inteligente, é lindo e forte.

part 5 can not be watched... is there a chance to watch it?
What is the name of the song that Nina and Lisa were singing?
What song did that end in?
She should of hung out more with her family they seem like good people maybe they could have grounded her a bit more.
So she was not completely alone.
Why is no one ever the reincarnation of an egyptian shopkeeper's clerk?
Who is the lady singing
Lisa Simone
