- Using flexi rods on my fine flat ironed hair is a great way to maintain my style. Flexi rods come in a variety of sizes which offer endless curls & style options. I used the large/jumbo purple flexi rods for my loose flowing curls.
In this video my flat ironed hair was 7 days old. I used the @RuckerRoots 4 Step Smoothing System which gave me super straight, smooth and shiny hair. Salon results!
My fine flat ironed hair had more mileage in it so I decided to give myself heatless curls. I hope you enjoy my video! 💕

About my hair...
I have fine, chemical-free hair. Chemical free means no relaxer...no color...no nothing. :) I mainly wear my fine, natural hair in TWIST OUT styles. For me, twist outs are a protective style that have allowed me to retain length while enjoying wearing my hair 'out.'
I also love for my fine natural hair to have lots of bounce, curls and volume!

I found your channel trying to look for a way to maintain my flat ironed hair. I got it done early December and wanted to prolong it until New Year's Eve. This has been very helpful. And while it was sweet of you to explain your "low energy" in the first portion of the video, I don't think it was necessary. It wasn't low energy at all! I'm pretty good at flat ironing and styling my own hair, but needed insight on how to maintain my curls. I found your video after flat-ironing my hair and putting the rod in and taking them out about 3-4 times. I finally got the hang of it, only needed 5 rods as well and I'm feeling pretty hopeful!! Your hair is simply beautiful! Also, the video did NOT come across as low energy but rather mature and mellow. Please keep it up, you're providing a great service my friend💕

Your hair is so pretty. I wouldn’t know about flat ironed hair lasting two weeks. I can’t get past the first three or four days without it starting to revert😩lol. Whenever I do straighten it again I’ll try the rods. That’s right be your own hair crush lol.
Keep in mind you'll need more flexi rods than me with all your hair. :)
Same here. Its raining today too.. I have a fluffy afro ..so I need a warm comb to get it straight again and then flexi rods. Yes I need to usually triple flexi rods to have curls that dont fall. But love her hair!

When I stopped thinking about it so much, wouldn’t you know it- next thing I knew I was seeing some length. I certainly understand. I like flexi rods, too! I want to experiment w/ different sizes. Latoya! :) Ok, products can make a world of difference in how the style comes out. I used the 4 Step Smoothing System by @RuckerRoots. Find them on IG b/c I believe they have a giveaway that you can enter. Girlfriend, my hair still had shine on day 13 when I shampooed it. These products are really amazing quality. I'm not sponsored by them and get no kickback from talking about them (just fyi). I've never used products at home to give me such wonderful results.
Our hair seems similar based on the pic you sent me. I honestly think you'll have great results if you happen to try the RR line.

Any tips on hair shedding? My ends get clipped regularly.
Hi Rachel! Unfortunately, I don’t have any recommendations for shedding. I experience it, too. 😫 I don’t notice it quite as much when I’m wearing my hair straight b/c I’m coming it everyday.
When I wear a twistout for a week, where I’m not combing it, I have so much shedding and it frightens me.
I don’t think shedding is too bad, as I’ve read that we shed around 50 hairs a day.
Ok I tried it, but it was a slight fail for me. The mousse made my ends frizzy. I used end papers, but I knew the mousse was risky bc the 1st ingredient in it is water, which is a no-no for preserving a silk press. IDK. Yours is beautiful though.

Hi TessyB! I’m so sorry for the delayed reply. I had to go back and look at the video.😊 I used Creme of Nature mousse on my hair before applying the flexi rods. Mousse/setting foam is very lightweight and allow me to get just a wee bit of hold.

Your hair came out so beautifully. I am wondering if you have tips or strategies for fine hair that is thinning. I have length but not thickness.
Hi Mashari, I really appreciate you for watching. Honestly, I wish my hair was thicker too. Depending on how I wear it, it can appear fuller than other times. I've used thickening shampoos and I like the temporary fullness they give especially when I wear my hair straight. I've tried varieties like Dove and L'Oreal thickening shampoos & conditioners, and I'm really curious about Nioxin. It's a bit more pricey but I've heard good things about it. I know the thickening shampoos/conditioners are only a temporary fix, but it's nice to see my hair look thicker.
My only suggestion is to baby your hair where it's thinning and do everything you can to keep it healthy. My hair is fine and really thin near my nape. And like you, I have length back there but it's really thin. It's odd too b/c it grows the fastest back there and is always stays longer than the rest. Smh.
Oh, style your hair with mousse! If you do roller/perm rod/flexi rod sets try using mousse. It really gives my hair volume and I love it! How do you normally wear your hair?
