The King Biscuit Boy was not just a wailer and harp player. He was one of the world's best slide players as well. In fact Duane Allman asked him to play slide!!!!!! in his new band. I saw Crowbar on one night and King Biscuit Boy the next for $0.75 each at the Edmonton Exhibition in 1973. Still two of the best nights of music ever. Thank god that Holger Peterson at Stony Plain Records has preserved the music of this master musician.
Yeah! Finally someone started uploading some of his stuff! I can't get enough of him. Never could. Best harp player ever! Still got my copy of Gooduns in the gunny sack in excellent condition. Thanks for uploading this one!
Really great to see this! I was always flattered that Rich liked the line I wrote for the solo section when we recorded it and continued to use it with Crowbar when they did this song. He was a true original, the REAL deal.
Absolutely my favorite misnamed video ever! Talk about starting slow and picking it up! Wow! This should be a clue to anyone who wants to learn about the best of Canadian blues (or musicial talent, anyways). All class, always...
@@cooljazz08 Alex MacDougall on guitar, and Sonny Del Rio on sax. Shawn O'Halloran on bass. Paul Panchezak on drums, and of course, Kelly Jay on piano. There you have it.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm sure that's Kelly Jay tickling the ivories and one of the founding member of Canada's own Crowbar. Richard also jammed with Crowbar as well. RIP Mr. King Biscuit Boy ...
Great and rare clip -- more! more! -- but the song title is actually "Blue Light Boogie," as originally done by Louis Jordan. "House of Blue Lights" is a totally different song.
@ Douglas Carter - This is a great clip! I play jazz/blues piano and harp and LOVE Louis Jordan and tenor horn. I had never heard of this or the other combos mentioned, so thanks for sharing. Unique parts of this clip include some shots of what apprears to be the pianist lifting the grand piano up a bit with his right leg as he plays really cool parts. Is this a camera trick that I have yet to figure out, or did that guy really lift the piano up? Seems impossible, unless the piano is off balance. Can't be good for the piano though. Anyone know what is going on there? Thanks again for sharing, I'll look for more of this combo. Peace.
Beautiful. It would be SO awesome if he was still around to play at our Kitchener Blues Festival!
Wonderful. I loved these guys and I've never seen this.
The real king!! Yeah i said it!! The biscuit was the best!! With a crowbar or gooduns it doesn’t matter!! Sangin!! Playin!! And boogie woogie to all!!

Didn't even have to see the piano player when I saw it bouncing off the floor!❤

Great version of a great Louis Jordan song.
That is Johnny V I'm sure. I used to play with him and we backed up Richard many times. I play tenor sax.
Alex McDougall on guitar
I stand corrected, thanks Mike. Kelly J for sure on keys. Anyone know who the sax player is?

Billy Joel does a song called the House of blue light it's his best song I think.
Gooduns is best Canadian blues album ever recorded by a white guy. 😂
Shit I thought that was John Mills on guitar.
