Pure OWS setups can be very strong, but there are ways to counter them. Red in the 2nd game perfectly showed us how not to do it. Game was already decided after the placements.
25:43 I absolutely hate 4:1ing of the valuable ore for the sheep. It's so much better to just place a road on the 9 wheat and wait for a sheep roll. You are basically using the port to 3:1 for the ore afterwards.
In first game, I would always road builder over to 3-4-8 to get the brick and wood pumping
That definitely would have been a good option! I think there were multiple ways to use the road builder, and while I focused on the ports the road materials may have been better. Thanks for the input!
@@Schloopity Personally I don't agree, I think you played it really well. As OWS you want to maximize the number of settlements you can get down with limited roads, not to mention the useful ports and lack of need for brick and wood for the gameplan in general. You can always fish for brick and wood with knights. Good stuff man!

In the first game I was surprised you did not grab the 3/4/8 giving you access to both wood and clay/brick.
That probably would have given us a good game too! I just wanted to go all in on the OWS haha. I like having double resources of all 3 to make me impossible to block me on each
Hey i got a question Schloopity. How many dev cards are there? And how many of each kind?
There are 25 development cards: 14 Knights, 5 Victory Points, then 2 Road Builders, 2 Year of Plenty, and 2 Monopolies.
So if you are able to play 7 Knights first you secure Largest Army for the rest of the game.
