Hi mate your vids are brilliant I’ve understood more watching your vids I’m just about to build hellers hms victory any tips for me also what anchor rope do u use on your builds any help would be appreciated as I feel may have bitten of more etc etc thanks 4:53
Why must people do this to a build they have spent countless hours over. Sails were consumables, a strong storm would blow them away leaving only the bolt ropes. They were constantly replaced with new ones from the ship's stores. This detracts from any authenticity. Furthermore the colour will darken naturally with age and UV light. I have mentored many builders and I discourage this practice.
It's like everything. We all have our own methods, theories, practices etc etc. What may not be right for one may be right for another. Me personally?? I like the weathered look. It adds a sense of drama to the display. It may not be to your taste, but I like it. 😉👍👍👍
