They both look very decent for the price. The rate you're banging these videos out they've become a part of my daily routine. "What's Gareth been getting up to today?" Good luck with the 50K subs!
Cheap frozen lasagne is always a good standby. One of the best things about a ready-made budget lasagne is you can always add grated cheese, tomatoes, chillies or whatever. A friend's cheeky lad calls it 'pimping my lasagne' !!!
Both these meals were produced in the Republic of Ireland, IE, in the same factory, 747, as indicated in the small ovals on the boxes. This factory, along with factory 761, supplies an enormous amount of frozen food for UK supermarkets.
No idea why I like watching these videos, but I do! You come across as a top bloke mate, really happy that your channel is doing so well. All the best x
In these times when most people are watching what they spend, these videos are informative, valuable & fun. A serious side too.... but no cross contamination 😁 Good luck with the 50k 👍
I was surprised when you said that the Tesco one was just 75 pence, looking at that packaging I was expecting you to say it was about £2-£3. With energy bills hitting astronomic amounts from this month onwards I think that a trip down to Tescos to stock up on these would be a very sensible thing to do!
I try to keep ciabbata garlic bread slices in my fridge to eat with anything like this. Just 5 or 6mins in the airfryer, and maybe abit of chedder on top is good with many foods..
Thanks for these comparisons Gareth, it really helps those who are struggling to make ends meet. I don't have to worry too much about prices but you have changed my shopping habits. Some takeaways would be nice as well but you have the comparisons SPOT ON keep up the good work, 😃😃😃😃😃
I find the cheap Italian ready meals are too heavy on the oregano and I don't like oregano so I tend to give them a miss. But thanks for another honest review 💜💜💜

If you ever check out the Lidl lasagnes, we prefer the chef select (cheap range) over their deluxe brand. The cheaper one is made with mince beef while the more expensive one has 'chunks' of beef (not many). Also the chef select is for 4-people (we split it into 3) while the deluxe is for 2.
Me and the Mrs have these occasionally as a lazy tea with salad and garlic bread. Top tip. Microwave them for half the specified time whilst the oven heats, then half the specified time in the oven. Works a treat.

My Dog loves lasagne - the Lidl used to sell theres for 68p - which is just as cheap as the dog food I buy him. I cook pasta with minced beef and bacon !!!! I put in strong chedder cheese and Olive Oil and usually Sweet tomato and lime Mexican flavouring !!!! The price is good, of the Tesco and Asda lasagne, but my homemade lasagne is double the size with loads of meat, cheese and tomato !!!! I am so used to cooking from scratch that I never buy ready made meals. But I use dried onions from Amazon, Professional tubs of Italian, or Mexican flavourings. Hi Gilroy been watching you're channel from when you had 15k subs mate First time ever commenting , i have been buying these tesco Lasagne's on and off for over 2 years . I always put 2 of these Lasagne's in the oven , i find one isnt enough and im always wanting to eat another soon as i finish the first one . Especially after adding all of those toppings
With all those added extras, you may as well, just make your own, I don't think, these ready meals, are supposed to replace the real thing, they are there, for when, time is short, life has been busy, and it's on the plate, in the time, it takes, to pour a glass of wine, they are ideal, as well for pensioner's, who live on their own, and don't have huge appetite's, but can still have, a variety of meal's for the week, that they can just pop in their microwave, keep up the good work Gareth
Hi Gareth, I've not had the asda one but i regularly buy the tesco's one and it's handy to have i the freezer if your in a rush, P's i couldn't agree more with you when the cover doesn't come off even worse if you have to cut the whole way around it with a knife 🍻🙏
Hi, It might be worth investing in a blowtorch for finishing off dishes like this. You can buy really fancy ones that cost an arm and a leg, however in the DIY stores they cost around £10. - get one with a base fitting as they are more stable when putting down whilst hot. They are so much quicker and you are in control of the level of browning. All the best to you and yours. Rab
I've had the Tesco one before and it did have carrots in it. I found it odd. Also it wasn't tomatoey enough for my liking. I now make my own even though it costs a fortune.
Hi all, sorry forgot to mention, Tesco do an ALDI price match on certain foods. All the best, Gareth 😋👍👍
Sainsbury's do Aldi price match too mate 👍
I find Tesco to be the cheapest of the traditional supermarkets to be honest
Problem with the price match is that Tesco and Sainsburys use their basic range to price match quite a few items

I always put 2 of these Lasagne's in the oven , i find one isnt enough and im always wanting to eat another soon as i finish the first one . Especially after adding all of those toppings
Thank you, yes can't beat cheese, all the best, Gareth 👍
With all those added extras, you may as well, just make your own, I don't think, these ready meals, are supposed to replace the real thing, they are there, for when, time is short, life has been busy, and it's on the plate, in the time, it takes, to pour a glass of wine, they are ideal, as well for pensioner's, who live on their own, and don't have huge appetite's, but can still have, a variety of meal's for the week, that they can just pop in their microwave, keep up the good work Gareth
Hi Gareth, I've not had the asda one but i regularly buy the tesco's one and it's handy to have i the freezer if your in a rush, P's i couldn't agree more with you when the cover doesn't come off even worse if you have to cut the whole way around it with a knife 🍻🙏
thanks Sean, all the best pal.
Oh no, 😱😱😂😂
can't go wrong with both for the price Gareth.
do them in a halogen oven allways gets a brown top
Hi, It might be worth investing in a blowtorch for finishing off dishes like this. You can buy really fancy ones that cost an arm and a leg, however in the DIY stores they cost around £10. - get one with a base fitting as they are more stable when putting down whilst hot. They are so much quicker and you are in control of the level of browning. All the best to you and yours. Rab
Great idea! cheers Rab
I found the tesco one just tasted of pepper, the asda just essentials fresh lasagna is much better than the frozen but costs a little more.
I've had the Tesco one before and it did have carrots in it. I found it odd. Also it wasn't tomatoey enough for my liking. I now make my own even though it costs a fortune.
homemade is best for sure
If you like one that's tomatoey try Mark's and Spencer one very tomatoey and good value.
Piccolino Lasagne and the Luxury Lasagne both from Iceland are the best In my opinion.
I wonder if the suger relates to the more vegetables In the Tesco one would be interesting to find that out
Good point
Hearty Food and Stockwell at Tesco are great cheap alternatives.
Iceland Beef and Pancetta al Forno Lasagne 450g is the best one with Aldi's luxury one following close behind it.
