    These are such wonderful stories Bobby! I too have some shared experiences here as well. Being a long long time member of the Yardbirds and also coming from Detroit to live in England. Man, quite an incredible journey and one that eventually took me to Hurtwood Edge to stand on the stone circle where George wrote Here Comes the Sun. I lived near by in Gomshall for many years so I can dig the vibe that you experienced on many levels. Hope you and Coco are doing well. Cheers! John

    These are fascinating conversations; so much to learn about this period of music, the 70s. I love it! So much so, I just bought the Layla and other assorted... off of itunes last night and have been really...really listening carefully. While doing so, something struck me about this vocal pair of Bobby and Eric. Bobby, you perhaps were/are a might too intimidating to Eric or maybe more so to Eric's keepers aka management. I thought Michael McDonald was the only one to have such a sweet, soulful and powerful voice until now. Wow! It is a wish to see and hear you two in person someday soon. I'll likely have to come to Austin for that to be a reality and therefore, I hope this Covid period ends and get that opportunity. Don't be surprised if I comment on your other postings, I'm 60 and feel like I have found a new well and am a bit thirsty.

    If you listen to the song "Layla",during the beautiful piano piece, you will hear a guitar truly weeping & crying, crying that transcends a music instrument.Duane reached an emotional connection with a song & audience that elevated the musical experience to a beautiful out of body, spiritual joy.Duane's creativity & musical passion will inspire generations of music lovers until the end of time. God Bless Duane Allman.

    Hi. I like the comment where you say " I never forget a name or a face, it's just pittung them together some times....". There is a great interview of Peter O'Toole here on youtube where he is talking about someone and he's trying to recall the name, and he says the exact same thing. " the information is there, it sometimes takes a bit to put it in the right place." Great minds Bobby, great minds, they do think alike. I really enjoy these posts. thanks alot.

    Wow so much to unpack in this one! I just attended (virtually) a memorial for a close relative today and it was all about this life of about 80 years and all the things that he had done and all the people he touched. It was almost too much to get my head around. This is a bit like that (if you pardon the memorial reference). This is a lifetime's worth of memories, experiences, hopes, dreams, rags, riches. Maybe recalls the Sinatra song "My Way" which has many of the same feelings, I think.

    Bobby you are genuine and a true musician. I can honestly say Eric has become a cliche in spirit and musicianship. You will always be in touch with the creative force and anyone with musical and spiritual clarity can see it is Eric who should be regretful he never called you and kept the real music coming. Coco, we love you for doing it but, no need to reinforce or comfort Bobby about Eric not calling, Bobby is so much more in so many ways that Eric will never be. What you have is priceless. Your spirit is intact, may your health and happiness overwhelm you both.

    Just stubbled on your channel Bobby and CoCo. I love hearing the tales Booby has to tell. In one video (not yours) he talks about, as a youth, working in the fields, delivering newspapers and selling Christmas cards for money. I did the same (we're of the same époque). In any case, through your conversational videos, it is the closest I can come to being part of that heavenly late sixty, early seventy music scene. Keep it coming !

    I have always loved word play. I write my own songs. I have an annoying tendency to speak in rhyme when I get frustrated or angry. If you want to sound off under these circumstances there is something intensely embarrassing about giving a piece of my mind in rhyme.

    I am thoroughly enjoying these conversations and Bobby’s stories. The music was so much a part of my life at the time it was being made and still is. I would love to hear anything you may have to say about the Rainbow Concert. It remains one of my favorite live Eric Clapton albums. Primarily because of the tremendous talent that performed on it, including yourself Bobby. Eric has said it was probably one of his worst albums and is surprised anyone remembers it and didn’t think it was available anymore. I told him it was one of my favorites. I don’t know if he ever read that reply, but I bought the original LP when it was first released, the CD later and also the remastered deluxe CD years later. I listen to it all the time. I look at it as the roots of the Crossroads Guitar Festivals, because of the reason it came together and the talented guitarists and other musicians jamming together. Thank you for doing these. ✌🏼💜🙏🏼✨

    Catching up to this one now. Only 35 minutes? Worth every second. Look, if Eric Clapton has not ever given you a phone call in all these years considering what the 2 of your accomplished was the apex of his career and you just exchange Christmas cards that is just sad.....I did hear one time a interview of Jim Gordon. SELF CENTERED. Man, he could play but if you had to be around him....that bridge is too much to cross than one time.

    Haven’t replied lately but when I bought all things in the spring of ‘71 as a ten year old kid, my favorite sides of the six lps was - apple jams- little did I know why it went down or what the title meant. But I’d read the players on the Lp cover and wished I was one of them. I do recall Bobby Whitlock - the name.and klaus voorman the man from Hamburg W.G. ! I lived in Hamburg for 6 plus years from 70 to late 76. I saw the Repperbahn music store where the Beatles went and the club....the star club.....I used to hang out in the reppeerbahn going to the import stores checking out the hookahs and chillums. There was an American bowling alley above the music store even. My folks and I would bowl on sundays on there at the Reeperbahn. Before we’d go bowl, I’d look in the window and see the Gibsons Sg’s and the Fender Tele’s and the pics of the Beatles on the wall. Let it be....1970...a year of transition.... Then Your lp w/ George came out. The Gospel music IMO is the source or the root why the music went into my heart. If you guys ever get out to play where I live on the southern coast, I’ll be there. Maybe I can help you get the gig. I may have some connections that way...I’m praying to meet you. Regardless, all things must pass - being prophetic a title as one can get - I would say is one of the lp bench marks of my life. Thanks for the tunes

    I think he may be confused of his memory of John and Yoko coming to the studio. John and Yoko's album Two Virgins was released in late 1968. The recording for All Things Must Pass album began in May of 1970. He said the Lennon's bought in their new album. Good story though. Maybe they brought it in to show it off in 1970..but that seems odd.

    • @BW-CC
      @BW-CC  3 роки тому +2

      All I can say is Bobby never paid any attention to John and Yokos life, that they showed up at the sessions with these photos. He would have no reason to make it up. The record was so controversial that it was seized in the U.S. and never really did anything in the UK. It really bothered John. John was holding a grudge for a long time, as a matter of fact the letter he wrote in 1971 will attest to that. So, there's no reason to think Bobby is confused. Not at all

      I don't think so. I think Coco does a good job of pulling these stories out of Bobby, because sometimes she does have to pull a bit. And sometimes it's necessary to stay on a point just for the sake of clarity, to make sure something Bobby says isn't misunderstood.
      I think Coco is the perfect person to be doing this. Sure, a journalist/interviewer might be more "professional", but I could see that Bobby might not always be so patient with a professional. He obviously loves Coco, and loves doing these videos with her. That should be enough reason for anyone.
