As a "former rifleman" of a very proud and honoured rifle regiment I cannot help the tears. I was a member of a very famous Rife Regiment of Canada when I was young and will always be a RIFLEMAN until I die.
playing on this parade was the highlight of my bugle life thus far being a part of the association makes me so proud words fail to do it justice im so pleased that all who came enjoyed themselves
There is no such thing as a "former Rifleman" so as an elderly 60th KRRC Rifleman, my heart swelled with pride to see such a magnificent display. I was taken back to when I was an 18 year old Rifleman, when my heart swelled with pride yet again, as I remember marching onto the parade ground in Winchester behind the band. I will not see the next parade, why so long between these events?
It was a fantastic event to be part of the Rifles family and as good as the Regular Band and Bugles are the veteran Buglers and the Cadets made the night. Swift and Bold. FFTB. The Yorkshire Rifleman.
Brilliant. All that one would expect from The Rifles. I was most impressed by the buglers of The Rifles Buglers Association. Such a pity these events are few and far between these days. Congratulations to all musicians and buglers on parade.
Thank you, It is the first time in nearly 25 years that the rifles have sounded retreat on horse guards parade. However The Royal Marines beat retreat every other year, and The Household Division beats retreat every year during the second week in June.
Good stuff, Rifle Regiment Motto's - 1] Rifles & RGJ "Swift & Bold - 2] KRRC "Celer et Audax" - 3] Rifle Brigade "Drink Beer & March At The Trail But Never At The Same time". Black & Green Finest Colours Ever Seen!
Well done on taking time in uploading the footage, it was indeed an impressive display by my favourite marching band which would have seen all those seats filled if the event was given more publicity and thereby would have raised more funds for Care for Casualties?
If we have to wait another 23 years to see the Rifles Massed Band again I may not be around! I checked with the RHQ Peninsula Barracks Winchester who informed me no professional recording of the event is being produced which is surprising seeing the number of crew in and on the parade ground! If anybody hears different please kindly update as this would again raise funds for C4C. At least we can thank You Tube in preserving the memory.
I have uploaded the whole performance onto UA-cam in 7 parts! I hope this helps you to becoming nearer to having a DVD. I am also creating a UA-cam playlist of the 7 videos, so that they can play one after each other - like a DVD. The crew that were there were filming live to be shown on the large screen that was on Horse Guards Parade, so that people could get close up shots!
Well done guys, hard that it is playing so long in one parade, good effort by all. Although, my heart still remains with the former bands of the 1,2,3 RGJ & sadly missing the 1,2,3 LI who appears only represented by the bugler association & the playing briefly of the Keel row. By the way, marching at 140 steps to the minute is far more better than racing at god knows what pace.
They look like they are on x4 speed on my sky box :) why is The Rifles do march so fast? What is the history behind it. I find it fascinating to watch!
I do apologise for the movement. It was rather cold on the parade ground and I was trying to compensate people’s heads moving in front of me. I was also much younger and less experienced when I filmed this so I do apologise.

Made the mistake of listening to this on my phone, as I walked the dog, this morning; the dog went around the park in Double Time ;)

Christopher Jones always swift, forever bold!
How long ago?
Once a Rifleman always a Rifleman 95th R.B.

Absolutely superb. Great watching the old soldiers taking part. Great to watch....
Fantastic. Really liked the slow march. The Rifles (light infantry) are awesome
The Keel Row and The Road to the Isles brought a tear to the eyes if a former member of The Durham Light Infantry.

The last time was 1993 before the CUT BACKS ! I was there then and really appreciate all the footage here now!
Outstanding 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I miss being a Greenjacket. My best friends are Greenjacket's too. I'll take my memories to the grave.
Me too!
Swift and bold brother .See you at the final RV .

Thank you, we tried to publicise it as much as we could on our Facebook page.
There were 2 unsold because a pair of 86 year olds would have had to scramble away for their last train home !

It is because they are part of the light infantry who have traditions of marching 140bpm
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Light_Infantry
The light infantry marched at a faster pace to skirmish and advance ahead of regular infantry. From the Peninsular war era
Get to fight the frenchies quicker
"Celer et Audax"
Ughh the most annoying cameraman ever!!!! Keep it still ffs
