This is was really helpful...I changed my price to 2Usd just in one day I got over 30students, Some even paid for 21hr, 22hr,12hr and the least was 6hrs tbvh! I don't think I will teach for 21hours receiving 2Usd. I give so much value for my class. I really don't know what I will do! Any suggestion or help?
nice video if students themself cancel classes does that lower ur profile ranking ? and does raising ur price for new students also lower ur ranking ? thanks for the answer
It depends on what you are teaching, but i would suggest undercutting the competition and working a really low wage until you get to 1000 classes, I have mentored a few tutors through this stage until they have successful profiles with 1000 or 2000 classes done, then you can really crank up your price, its still a learning experience for you, and a low price makes your clients more forgiving
I put my price as 2$ for an English Tutor and ended up getting 30+ students in 6 hours. The problem is is that I immediately changed my price to 13$ to reduce the traffic on my profile. As soon as I did that no one started booking my classes. Have any tips?
try a middle ground? try say 6 USD, experiment with different prices to get the number of new students you want. its more difficult to go back down, so I would start at say 4usd, for a few hours, if you get too many new students keep jacking it up by a few dollars every few hours, the other thing I would do is work at that low price for about 1000 classes!! that way you can justify upping your price :)
you can just jack up your price on your profile, it wont affect your old students, and it will stop new ones applying so quickly (maybe lol) and it wont hide your profile completely
Hello! Do you know, if I change my prices, will that effect students who have booked introductory classes? I don't want to hurt people who have booked in the future, but I have pretty clearly undercharged for my services!
I changed my price in September. Preply did not update it YET! Not as easy as the website makes out. You have a problem, Preply sends "answers" back which are all the same and don't solve the problem. You can't get anyway discussing detail with the support people.
Hello! I watched your first video and I applied what you said dropped my price to 5 dollars and got more students then I changed it back to the previous 15 dollars no I have one student paying 15 dollars and new student a lot of Page views like 4777 and the views increase every day but no one books some text and don't book at all. What do u think I should do? Do I drop the price to 10 dollars?
yes i would slowly raise your price, its difficult to justify to students paying a higher price if you suddenly start advertising at a lower price. you would have to give them a discount! so stat at your 5dollar price, then raise to 8, then 10, i very slowly edged my way up
To change price for existing students I had to cancel all their booked lessons which is inconvenient for them and someone else could take their spot. It is a terrible way to go about it.
Hi David. I changed my price by 1$ and I got some really harsh and ugly comments on my profile. How concerned should I be about this and is there any way that I can remove this?
Hi Mika, can you send me a link to your profile so I can see the comments, you might be able to get them removed by preply admin, if you let me take a look ill let you know. Preply are pretty good about things like this, it all depends on what has been said. And wow one dollar! I didnt know we could go that low! Would be a good idea to do that for say a week, and change your profile description to **SUPER SALE ONE WEEK ONLY!!** I havent see anyone do that yet. I tried all sorts in my profile description, you know the first few lines is all that people see, so make it catchy, and try out different ones.
@@davidgallimore2112 Thank you so much for your response! Here is the link to my profile preply.com/en/tutor/1443225 It's really demotivating and draining to say the least..
How can I get to the first page please. I have watched your other videos. I have lowered my prices and opened my slots 24/7. I got fully booked and could not keep up with messaging. Preply blocked my profile. Since then it has been unblocked, but I am not getting the same volumes as before it got blocked. How can I get more students. I currently have about 19 students. I need more. I started at $6 now I am on $10 dollars. I got about 3 new students. 1 of whom keeps rescheduling her lessons. Please advise.
@@davidgallimore2112 They're testing it out at the moment. It's really unfair towards the tutors. You have to get the student to cancel it. I like your videos btw.
Perfect explanation. This was extremely helpful.
My average profile position is 1 but i appear after 5 pages on tutor list. Why is that?

Nice video David. So how much would you recommend to charge for a start? Thanks

What about students who don't want to agree on changing your price? You can't dismiss any old student as a teacher right?

It doesn't
Do you have a sample of the email you sent out?
Hi I had changed my price earlier from 3 to 5 $ but for new students it is still showing 3 $. what should I do. Please help.

So when we cancel classes it hurts our rankings. Does that improve over time or is it a permanent drop in ranking?
Thanks a lot. That's really helpful

If I increase my price do my old students will see the previous price whenever they have to buy more hours from me?
hi if it still helps, old student will see and pay you old price. Until you personally change it for exact student

With the new subscription service you can't even change their prices. You are stuck with that price forever.

Maybe it will help avoiding those too ridiculously low rates! Think twice before charging peanuts :-)
