What a great video, thank you for posting it! I grew up in and around Vancouver harbour and the sights, sounds, and smells of 40+ years of the goings-on there are forever etched in my memory. As a child and young teenager my friends and I would walk down to the end of Pemberton street in North Vancouver and swim out to the log booms. From there we spent many an indolent summer day swimming, fishing, and just watching the busy harbour. There was always something going on. A few times we actually climbed up the north tower of the Lions Gate bridge and would moon the float planes as they flew by. Ah!, our mis-spent youth! Anyway, one sound I'll always remember and miss is the howl of the floatplane props echoing around the harbour.
That's always my favourite thing to do when visiting Vancouver, is watch a few seaplanes taking off. Haha I can't say I've ever mooned them though 😄 Thanks for watching!
Boa tarde meu Amigo !!!! Aeronaves fantásticas. Todos lindos demais. Especialmente, os Westcoast. O lugar aí também é fantástico. Muito obrigado pelo vídeo e parabéns pelo canal. Abraço do Brasil......
Thanks again my friend. Yes, this is a beautiful location for spotting and there's always lots of nice seaplane action going on. A must visit for any aviation lovers! Have a great day.
Nice setting with the hills of Vancouver too, there's an airline in Croatia that does Twin Otter water flights, so that's on my next years "to do" list.
Thanks for watching! I've seen many videos of the Twin Otter's in Croatia, it looks like it would be a beautiful place to fly in one. I'd definitely love to get up in one of these nice aircraft some day!
WOW! I'm in Seaplane Heaven right now, Loved everything about these video clips, the only way it would have been any better is if I had been flying in these incredible aircraft, Great footage. Thumbs Up :)
I knew you'd like this one :-) You would love a trip to Vancouver, it has so many interesting flight and spotting options. And one of the busiest seaplane airports in the world!
I sure would love to fly up to Vancouver one day, I will put it on my Bucket List but until then I will enjoy watching all of your great videos it's almost like being in Vancouver. Take care and have a great weekend.
The pilot at 28:30 has done that entry once or twice before, I'd say. I've seen people have a harder time parking their cars in spots that are empty all around. Love this vid.
I wonder what the lifespan is of these aircraft. They're not pressurized so cycles isn't as critical, but there has to be a salt corrosion issue. They sure are incredible machines though! I love the short-nose variant!
They have a very long life, as the aircraft in the video are already 50 years old. They must have to do regular maintenance and corrosion inspections to protect against the salt water.
Cycles ARE critical. They are absolutely counted and logged. I saw the stress cracks in the wing attachment fittings/bosses. Scared the hell out of me; especially after Chaulks disaster in Miami. Different airplane; same problem. Airframe hours about 43000
Those planes maneuver so preciously in the water. I wonder what kind of controls they use to back up and turn. Is that all done by propeller pitch and rudder? That must take a lot of skill.
Hi Jim, the propellers are able to move to a reverse pitch. ( called Beta range and very distinctive noise when used) It is used to move in reverse and to stop quickly after landing. Makes for quick turns when one is in reverse and the other one is forward.
Lovely compilation THDA!! It is just so amazing the aircraft activity in Vancouver Harbour! We always enjoy your seaplane vids from this location! Hope you get to try one in the future!
Ah how they bring back memories of flying the twin otteer AeroPelican Sydney - Belmont route for many years until Air New Zealand screwed Ansett thebest airline in the world.

Why are long nose twin otter variants like the -300 not certified for seaplane use?I’ve seen some videos of long nose twin otter seaplanes…I usually see short nose ones on floats tho.
Great video. I'm fr Malaysia. How big is the payload? How long does it take, to get a license to fly the twin otter, fr scratch? . How much does the plane cost?
Sea plane travel is a way to empower women pilot and technician, shorter flight path, easy repair, no expensive airport operation, and safe landing water
I NEVER get tired of watching these clips, thanks.
Glad you enjoy the videos!
LOVE THIS! I used to be the chief engineer for westcoast air, brings back some good memories
Nice, that must have been an interesting job. Thanks for watching!

Wow - The climb rate on these is impressive
Thank-you sir, brought back great memories of many hours in the right seat of those machines in the late 90's. Great shots. Miss that 'beta' sound.
Thanks for watching! I'm really glad the video brought back some good memories. That must have been a lot of fun flying the Twin Otter!
Lovely plane. Joy to fly. Sturdier than she looks.
Incredible compilation of the Twin Otter.
Thanks a lot!
Reverse gear on a plane. I did not know that! Great compilation
There is no reverse gear. The prop always turns in the same direction.

When I worked on a radar station on Greenland's ice cap a Twin Otter(OY-ATB) would bring us workers and supplies.
Nice, that must have been a very interesting job. These Twin Otter's sure get to some isolated and challenging locations.

It's really impressive to see how these guys can maneuver the aircraft on the water, they are real pros when it comes to parking them at the dock!
I love this!! Such an awesome compilation.

who is a word - THEY -
I wonder what the lifespan is of these aircraft.
Fuselage is rated for 60,000 hrs, the wings for 30,000 hrs. A full life on a fuse requires wing replacement.
Cycles ARE critical. They are absolutely counted and logged. I saw the stress cracks in the wing attachment fittings/bosses. Scared the hell out of me; especially after Chaulks disaster in Miami. Different airplane; same problem. Airframe hours about 43000

Ya, the pilots definitely do a great job of maneuvering the aircraft around the docks. It must definitely take some practice!
