I don't think the game will be GOTY material due to expectations of games needing to be like movies, but this game NEEDS to be a wake-up call for the industry. There is nothing wrong with being short games, kid-friendly, not every game needs to be a 100-hour RPG, and it DEFINITELY doesn't need to be a live service 5v5 overwatch clone.
@@zephalion7386 lots of people in he games industry got to review 3 levels this past week in LA i believe. So many videos on youtube right now from people who have played it.
The biggest problem with not just the gaming industry, but with the entertainment industry as a whole, is that the budgets have gotten to overblown to be sustainable. Being a phenomenon isn’t a plus, it’s a requirement to be successful. There’s no more mid budget movies, games, or shows, it’s all 100 Million + budgets. Because of this, studios are watering down artist’s visions (if not firing them outright), not taking risk, copying and pasting what’s already worked before to the point people have become numb to all the tropes and cookie cutter characters, stories, and writing. The industry isn’t too big to fail, it’s too big to succeed. The budgets don’t allow for modest success, it has to be a phenomenon. That’s why Indies are so successful, they take risk, they’re unique and artistic, something we need more of in all industries.
Astro Bot is modern Crash Bandicoot but way shorter than 1st and 2nd game. Like literally you can complete 100% in 5 hours. And way easier with some levels being little tricky. Graphics and textures are charming, music is good and makes you relaxed on every level you enter in game. Literally.
I feel like Sony is trying to have their own Mario. All the usual platformer mascots that we associate with PlayStation are being released on other platforms. But Astro Bot has PS imagery baked all the way along the game itself. Yes, it's unapologetically FUN, but I think this is why Sony is putting so much work and money into this, why they are actually listening and doing things right. Because it's inextricably tied to their brand in an era of de-exclusivization (Ratchet and KH coming to Steam, for example). So it actually makes a lot of sense that they push Astro Bot as much as they can, and I mean... it looks gorgeous. I don't have a PS5 but I played Astro's Playroom at a friend's house and I was feeling fireworks inside. It's pure joy. So this is a situation where not only the devs are clearly passionate about what they're making, but also the execs are willing to give it the budget and promotion it needs to really flourish. And the result is this: pure, unadulterated fun.
I hope we don’t end up with another scenario like “Yooka-Laylee” where critics attacked the game and constantly called it bad, but it was mainly because there was a push being made away from games like it and towards more FPS games like the “Call of Duty” series.
I don't think so considering critics love the little bot and people who played Astro's Playroom got to know Astro Bot through being a free PS5 tech demo. Yooka-Laylee was panned because of how it advertised itself as Banjo Kazooie's successor and the game ended up being inferior to the N64 duo. Compare that with Impossible Lair, it did it's own thing free from Banjo Kazooie and it was better received overall, 82 on Metacritic vs the 68 the first game got. There IS interest for those types of games, but the deal is to do it right.
@@dragondelsur5156 Perhaps it was Some critics that were like this, but they’d probably be a very vocal minority. I will admit that I enjoyed the first “Yooka-Laylee” game even if it wasn’t perfect. I’m yet to properly play the second one, but it looks really good. As for “Astro Bot”, I think there is definitely a lot of praise and hope from a vast majority of fans and critics, even if there will still be those who would dismiss it in favour of a COD game that has The Homelander in it killing people on mass.
What the industry seems to have forgotten is that there are some games that only last you a few hours, maybe even a few days and people will replay those games nonstop just because they are having fun, like I'm sure many people in this community are probably replaying Sly Cooper now that the original game is more readily accessible on modern Playstation consoles.
As someone who just finished Astro's Playroom this week, I couldn't agree more! That 1st trailer we seen already got me excited, cuz I'm a 3D platformer nut, so of course it will. But actually sitting down & playing ... well, Playroom. I now understand why people loved it as much as they do, and why there's a TON of hype surrounding Astro Bot's new game! And yeah, FUN is how I would describe my time with Astro's Playroom, leaving me wanting more! So Astro Bot is right there to scratch that itch I'm sure a lot of people are missing. It's why I advocate for 3D platformers, and often complain about the imbalance between maturer, live-action movie games & 3D platformers or experimental titles with PURE FUN in mind. So yeah, Astro Bot has my full support! Alongside Sonic X Shadow Generations the following month! The more platformers, the better!
I really hope Astro Bot reminds Sony that fun being front and center will do just as well as a cinematic experience or a multiplayer time sync. They all could co-exist, and that melting pot of variety they use to have is what put them at such a forefront. I miss getting super creative and sharing levels on LittleBigPlanet, I miss having new adventures sneaking around with Sly and the gang. I love God of War and happy Ratchet is still around, but even if the older stuff doesn't come back; Shifting focus to new things on the fun side would be glorious; and give me way more reason to even consider getting a new Playstation console, as oppose to just waiting for everything to hit Steam now.
Loved this video CGE. I felt the exact same way seeing the Astro Bot trailer and completely agree with what you’re saying. It’s very rare that a game catches and keeps my attention nowadays and even rarer that I get that warm internal tingle of “wow this is cool!”. I think you’re absolutely right that the industry has taken a heavy steer towards awards, profits and a dedicated, consistent player base. So many games lately try to be too many things. I find so often that there are games that take hundreds of hours to complete, have 10 DLC packs and a battlepass, preorder bonus missions and currency and it’s exhausting. Give me a game that feels good to play and still feels that way when you’re finished with it and not make you feel like you have to come back next week for a new mission or skin. Astro bot is a great example but I also believe that Baldur’s Gate 3 is too. BG3 won so many awards and I believe with good reason. Larian made a game that THEY wanted to make and that people wanted to play. No hidden or additional content, preorder missions or in-game purchases, just a game. Yes BG3 can be an incredibly long game but it feels good to spend that time in the game! It’s challenging, fun and engaging and endlessly replayable. The bottom line is; developers and companies will get people to play their games if they just strive to make a game that is fun to make and fun to play and make a game that they know they’re good at making, the people will come. Stop making games that constantly want to sell you something. (Sorry for the rant/essay everyone)
I genuinely recon astrobot will spark a resurgence for the genre because it's the fresh air we as gamers have missed. Look at why the crash and spyro remakes did as well as they did. Or why people are shouting for older games like sly, jak or banjo to make a return. These styles of games while have had few spiritual sucessors are in higher demand then Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo realise but because they are so scared to pander to the audience they won't find this out about the demand.
no man I'm sorry but the game won't make Sony say we have to recover the old IPs...., astro bot is there to plug an empty year of first parties, it's the fault of the players who abandoned these IPs not Sony's, Sly 4, Jak And daxter borders, Ape escape we abandoned them! the last chapters of these sagas didn't sell anything and didn't even reach one million copies! , why should Sony fish out IPs that didn't sell at the time?
@@salvatorem2686 I mean the game genre. Im not asking for old ip remakes I just want them to acknowledge the genre the platform collection games have kinda disappeared mostly and it's a shame so I'm hoping astro will get us more platformer collection games
@salvatorem2686 Bullshit. It's Sony's fault for not marketing these games well enough. It's the Americans fault for pushing out most Japanese devs who value these types of games. Sony Interactive Entertainment has been going downtown ever since the Americans took control.
As the Reginator once said “If it’s not fun…why bother?” Games are supposed to be fun. Not a walking simulator disguised as a movie, not a dumb live service game, not any of that. PlayStation (and the gaming industry as a whole) needs to wake up, and go back to the way things were. When games were colorful, fun, and full of heart. I’ll try making my own video talking more in depth about this at some point, but I hope Astros success gives Sony a wake up call, and tells them that we Want more wholesome family friendly colorful fun games. More ratchet and clank, more sly cooper, more Jake and daxter, more little big planet, more of this please.
There were only 2 games that caught my eye in that State of Play - Monster Hunter Wilds and Astro Bot. And even though I spent thousands of hours on MH: World and Iceborne, I had to give the gold medal to Astro Bot. That game saved that State of Play. For one thing - it was a brand new game revealed. We already knew MH Wilds existed. I'm not even gonna comment about concord. It was a complete waste of time.
The reaction whiplash between Concord and Astro Bot goes to show how broken this industry is. An Overwatch clone that tries and fails to make you care about it's characters vs a charming platforming game that once again celebrates PlayStation while being it's own thing. Yeah. Despite having games I want on PS5, I got the most I wanted on PS4 (Ragnarok and Forbidden West), but Astro Bot made me WANT a PS5, which is something I never thought would be possible. Before, inFAMOUS Second Son made me want a PS4 (the game ended up being mediocre in my eyes but still), and Astro Bot is that case again. Now, no offense to people here but I sometimes feel baffled when people use this series as a bullet against PlayStation's "movie games" and that "we should see more games like this" while at the same time ignoring the game and not buying it after release, and then complain it was abandoned when "fans" also did. I want Astro Bot to have a future, and abandoning it's VR gimmick whilst taking what worked from Astro's Playroom is a good step, great even, and the little I've seen from PS Access made me hopeful. But, and I swear I'm saying it with utmost respect, put your money where your mouth is and buy this game, the last thing I need is for this game to fail and for people who never cared about the little robot still use his series to mock PlayStation for letting the game fail when they never bought it in the first place, or say how Astro Bot WAS great when the support wasn't there on release. I'm saying this not to defend PlayStation or their "movie games" even though I like them, but to call out the people that say stuff like this and pretend they ever cared about Astro Bot. His series deserves better than to be used as a bullet just because Jak and Sly are not getting any games, buy this game 'cause you like it, not in the hopes to bring back both series. I love Astro Bot so much, and I hope his new game ends up being his biggest success yet to keep Team Asobi running.
The only part I disagree with is Nintendo not having heart in their games. Their games have plenty of heart. It's everything else Nintendo has no heart for.
I haven't felt this strongly about a game since the days of the Wii U. As much love as Astro Bot is getting right now, it will all mean nothing if the sales-numbers don't reflect that love. Support the future of fun videogames by getting this on day one instead of waiting for a sale to $9.99.
1:51 the last Playstation Boss that cared about gaming. I will never forget his E3 speech about vib ribbon. He said nobody knows this game mit maybe didn't Sold very well but it defines Playstation and what it stands for.
Its clear people like it, now the big question is… How many people are going to be willing to pay 60$ for it? I'm waiting to see what the sales look like, we always talk about how we want specific series or characters back but when you look through the eyes of the company a lot of these games just don't sell well enough for them. As much as I agree we need games like this and fan favorite IPs back or that we should redefine the idea of success in the industry , this isn't always the reality. I hope Astro bot will be successful, for the consumers sake.
The thing is that AstroBot had propably much cheaper production costs, so it doesn't have to sell as much as one of these 'movie'-games to be successful. And it doesn't matter if I spend 60$ for a platformer or 60$ (or more) for a open-world title. If I have that money I'll more likely buy a game like AstroBot, because those hyper realistic games can be very exhausting after a while. Especially if you wanna do other things in your life.
In my opinion Astro-Bot and Sackboy side by side should be the mascots of PlayStation. It does great because they advertise the PlayStation because people want a PS5/6/? so that they can get a hand on these games and in turn it’s also like they are advertised all across PlayStation so you want them more! I think it would be great if Astro and Sackboy games were seen as more budget friendly titles. Everything nowadays is $70. So if they made the PS6 and retail price for a game is $80(I wouldn’t complain if the quality of games went up but it probably won’t)then the massive games of LBP and Astro-Bot would come in at $60 so 25% cheaper and then they would have other titles as low as $20! I don’t even think they need a crap ton of games! I’ll just cover the PS6-PS7 lineup: So we’ve already seen Astro-Bot and Sackboy: A Big Adventure as our last two games and so to kick off with the PS6 launch we get a brand new Sackboy game! I have no idea what the name would be! This, in best way to describe it is a mix of Wii Sports and Club Penguin. It would be a massive multiplayer game where you can explore the beautiful cityscape and countryside. There are various sports you can do, a plethora of mini-missions, and just a ton of fun to be had by yourself or with friends! Join lobbies of 32 players(maybe even more on PS6 hardware)online with private and public lobbies, and even be able to play up to 4 player couch co-op splitscreen where you can go do your own things! This game would be spectacular, and best of all, it would be free! This massive game would build huge publicity. Having that Club Penguin and Wii Sports level of being infamous. People who want a PS6 want one even more because of this game! People who buy one feel like it’s way more worth it with this $80 game. People want to buy the PS6 because they are missing out on playing the brand new game all their friends play! And it also brings Sackboy into light with all the characters of LBP3 and a crap ton of customization. They would have so much cosmetics you could buy but all could be earned! As this would last throughout the entire console lifespan they would keep immense support via a brand new DLC and free updates. The DLC would be $20 so pretty budget friendly and add a whole resort extension to the map with like Skiing and Golf! (I believe for the future every system should last 10 years-12 or even more because now that we have such hardware this isn’t a PC and so console upgrades only justify creativity not power Imo)Year 1 maybe Year 2 of the system we get a new Astro-Bot game! This would be $60 and would be phenomenal! Year 4 we get Little Big Planet 4 at $40! Year 5 is the paid DLC on the Sackboy explorative game! Year 6 is a mobile game for Sackboy. Year 8 we get an Astro-Bot spin off game which you need the PlayStation Portal(2nd gen) in order to play as they creatively use both screens which would build advertising for the portal too especially if it was free but I’d imagine $20. Year 9 we get a LBP collection remaster! We get the original Trilogy all together for $40 or get each individually for $20. PS7 Astro takes the cake with an astronomical title at $60. I’m not gonna really go into the PS7 too much but like Year 6 we would get a collaborative game of the two characters and maybe Year 9 a party game and that’s the most notable.
The only company of the big 3 I’d say still has heart is Nintendo. Mario Wonder, Pikmin 4, Botw, Metroid Dread, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and many more still have that charm and actual “game” video games used to have. Of course not all of their games though, particularly the Pokemon and Mario sports games, are really soulless and generic.
I agree, PlayStation desperately needs a game like this, them going all in on the third person action adventure story cinematic game style while makes excellent games just doesn’t offer the variety that Nintendo so it’s either you like what PlayStation has or doesn’t and that just doesn’t work for sustained success
It sounds like you're advocating for gatekeeping which I'm all for. Games should be made by gamers for gamers, you have your community right there and there's nothing wrong with it. By bringing in people who only care what they can exploit out of this community, you get the situation we are in today.
Exactly!!! As insane the modern graphics of today are, they really take away the most important thing about a video game: and that’s having fun. I remember this one saying: Games are meant to let you escape from reality, not be in a world where reality is heavily prioritized.
I’m normally a quiet listener of your channel but this time I just had to comment on this. I totally agree with basically everything in this video. It seems like in the past years there has been a massive disconnect between the entertainment industry (games, movies, TV) and the consumers. Remember e.g. UA-cam Rewind? It seems like the top management from big companies has gone from people who actually wanted to create something fantastic for their customers/users to straight up businessmen who is only interested in profits and the value of their company. Greed, greed, greed. Not to be over dramatic but when I saw the Astro bot trailer, I had the feeling that this era might be over. That at least Sony might have started to get their bearings straight. Idk. Hopefully.
Really excited for this! We need more games like this, Jak, Sly, Ratchet, and LBP. I hope everyone considers supporting the release of Sly which is now available to buy on PSN.
This is the reason why I play platformers more than any other genre because I feel there way too many shooter games and a lot of them are nothing but straight up rip offs of other online games, I play platformers because they are games that I can just simply pick up and put down
I think it boils down to this being a mascot-less era. Mascots bridge generations: just look at Nintendo. People grow up and 20 years later their kids play those mascot games. Happened with Nintendo,, should have happened with other platforms in the industry but both PS and Xbox lost the touch and focused more on what sells less without considering how much heart mascot games have and how much general goodwill they bring to the plaform. Temporarily you had PS (initially) bring out Crash and Spyro (not by themselves, third party), but it should have been a sign for the platforms to kick off... and maybe PS did it now with Astrobot but it feels like it will now take time to get that spark back.
Astro Bot looks just a refreshing game for Playstation. We need more video games like Astro Bot for Playstation. Nintendo is doing great in this regards of fun, beautiful plaformers like Mario, kirby and the forgotten land etc. Astro Bot is a game im most excited about for any games on the Playstation. I think it will be even better then Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart. Astro Bot just looks so beautiful and very fun to play, it is what a video game should be like.
I don't want to sound like too much of a fanboy, but I feel like Nintendo absolutely still puts out games that are simple fun and easy to get into. Unless you want to call Metroid Dread, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and friggin' Mario Bros Wonder games without souls. Pokemon, though? Yeah, they could absolutely work on getting the soul back into that series.
Yo it's funny how a game that started as a "in your face" tech demo, now became one of the few Big budget franchises that really feel heartwarming and genuine compared to others
I had goosebumps when the Astro Bot trailer popped up at the finale of State of Play. SO Hyped for this game to release in September! Astro Bot was really the only game I got excited for in the recent State of Play Even a new update was released for Astro's Playroom that helped tie in with the upcoming game almost 4 years in the making
The ONLY games I enjoyed so far in PS5 are Ratchet & Clank Rift Appart and Astro Bot I wonder why... Is it because they actually PUSH the limits on what the PS5 and specially the Dualsense can offer?
I want to remind you that two years ago Stray the cat game ended up among the candidates for Goty, for me Astro Bot has a good chance of ending up among the candidates, but we all know how platform fans are made as soon as they have to pay 70 dollars for a game they back out..... Spyro Trilogy sold 10 million copies in 5 years after its release while a game like Spider-Man 2 sold 10 in just 5 months...., games like this should be bought on Day One for me in order to send a signal to Sony, for me the blame will never be on those who make the game but on those who buy it when it completely devalues! I'm talking to you guys I'm sure many of you bought games like Spyro, Crash, when Activision sold them out! I want to remind you that they don't make a Sly Cooper game due to the low sales of the 4th chapter which didn't reach a million copies...., the wallet is ours, we are the ones who do the good and bad weather (Day One does not there is another solution!) Then don't complain if games like Concord sell better.....
Man I definitely felt stuff seeing this man, definitely the best analysis I've seen with the whole Astrobot VS Concord situation, definitely a sign of what was said, a wake up call for the industry, considering how much positive feedback Astrobot got thus far, I have confidence it will do really well. I payed the full price for that Sackboy A Big Adventure as purely a blind buy and I will say it was worth every penny, I even got the collector's edition, so I have confidence it will be a game that will be fun with dozens of hours wasted trying to complete everything and such, man September is going to be wild.
While I do agree, I also think that a long game with good story and gameplay can be fun too. Still, those small, unique, adventure games are my favorites. Although, I almost always wish they were longer...
Sony lost crash , and the closest to get to crash is astrobot. I am glad he's getting his headline game , because just like crash there is this joy when playing their games.
I think this is why I have replayed Astro’s Playroom on my ps5 as much as I have. It’s fun. Yeah, Astro’s Playroom is technically a tech demo, but they did it through a simple, short, and sweet platformer that was really fun to play. I didn’t even know they were making another Astrobot game but from what I’ve seen of the trailers, you already know I’ll be picking this game up as soon as possible!!
Does anyone remember the days that companies like THQ would make games based on the latest shows and movies, or all these smaller studios like Avalanche Software, Behavior, or even Activision would release things like Tak, Ty the tasmanian tiger, and all these old DreamWorks based games? We really need a return to television and movie based games, people. These games were mostly mixed, yes, but at least they tried being their own thing, or at least their own version of a familiar thing.
CGE I love you so much. everything you just said I agree with 100%. I myself and just so tired of modern gaming that as of right now I am going on a retro binge to get back to my gaming roots. I have been playing the OG Crash trilogy, CTR and the Spyro Trilogy on PS1 and have had the most fun that I have had in awhile. I am even gonna say that I vastly prefer the OG's to the N.Sane, Nitro Fueled and Reignited. I felt like a kid again and brought back so many memories and just made me so happy. I want more games like astro bot, I want more games like Sly and jak and ratchet. I know it's probably not possible but I want more than anything for OG Crash. CTR and Spyro from PS1 to show up on the classics catalog for PSN but with Xbox owning crash and spyro I don't see it happening. Thank god for emulators, right? I hope Astro Bot succeeds and is the Wake up call to the industry and we finally get fun back and not the same AAA slop that we have been getting.
People can tell when you put your soul into something. I know that sounds cheesy af but it's true. I create. Just for funsies. And when I'm not feeling it people can tell. But when I'm putting my all into it? People usually respond well to that.
Dude I agree that Astro bot looks so much better than concord but this is a bad video. Your generalizing alot and constantly repeating "the game industry lost it's heart" without actually providing examples. Then you lump Nintendo into the conversation when their doing the exact opposite of Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo isn't perfect but they definetly have their priorites straight as game developers. They figured out a long time ago that chasing after the most powerful graphics is not a good idea and instead just focused on making their games fun to play and accessiable. And alot of their games look so much better than the hyper realisim focused games sony and Microsoft pump out. Their finding success because they have'nt lost their heart, and most importantly they learn from their mistakes. The reason their next console isn't out yet is because Nintendo is making sure it's actually ready to come out first which is what Sony and Microsoft should've done with their new consoles.
Gaming feels different because it used to be smaller Every industry that grows large enough gets invaded by suits who just seek to maximize profits and don’t care about the medium Honestly I just don’t bother with AAA anymore, Bethesda RPGs will always be my guilty pleasure but what I live for are the indies and the “AA” games by teams with passion for the craft and the burning desire to create living worlds and tell stories Or in Astro Bot’s case straight up mindless, colorful fun
The main reason I'm interested in concord is because of the developers. Mainly who is on the team, the team is ex Bungie, cod and apex team. That's why I'm interested in concord.
Great video as always & you make a lot of great points however the only thing I find incorrect about this video is that you mentioned Nintendo being one of those companies that forgot what made gaming what it is but I would argue that Nintendo is one of the few companies that understands that they focus on great gameplay & fun over great visuals & hardware, who knows what will happen to Nintendo in the future but at least for now they get it, still I’m excited for Astro bot this & I can’t wait to play it!
Ratchet and clank rift apart was my Astro bot it brought me pure enjoyment and fun. Sad to not see a sequel anytime soon but I’ll vote with my wallet and pick up Astro bot.
I wasn't one for Astrobot before as I never knew much about it, but after the trailer would consider getting it because you're right and that it has the fun we have been missing. It also shown the twice burned Ape Escape fans we aren't fully forgotten about. Which reignited a small hope for me to one day see Ape Escape return.
😠Hey Pal, that's my favorite game company you're talking about here. You didn't have to be honest about it in a negative way. I love Playstation, it has great titles, great gameplay physics, and great mascot characters. I don't see anything wrong with Astro Bot either. I'm so excited about his awesome new game. And I'm going to play Astro's playroom first once I get the PS5. All I'm trying to say is that there's nothing wrong with Playstation and Astro Bot. And that's it!
I've become burned out on cinematic games with way too long cutscenes that could just as well have been a movie or show. I want more fun games that are actually games.
I couldn't help but wonder since Astro Bot references games throughout Playstation history what are the odds it will reference Concord? They try to show their respect no matter the game so it's not out of the question.
Maybe in the free DLC, maybe not. Still, Concord is so generic I doubt anyone will get the ref at first, I can recognize Selene because of her heterocromia (which her bot managed to have), but I just don't know what's there to reference.
its kind of funny that you group nintendo in with sony and xbox because for the most part they really aren't guilty of most of the practices the industry performs today, even their soo called live service games are upfront on the fact that they will only really be supported for about a year or two, there are cases where they do exhibit modern practices mainly mario sports games of all things, but most of their output on the switch has been loads of fun (before anyone comments on pokemon, nintendo does not actually fully own pokemon, pokemon is its own corporation that is only a third owned by nintendo, they don't have the majority and therefore don't have much say on decisions made by the pokemon company), eitherway i am glad sony fans are getting such an amazing game as astrobot, hopefully it sells well enough for sony to take note and focus more on what reggie said himself. "if its not fun, why bother?"
Multiple people that have played it mentioned it being a potential GOTY contender...
Yooka replaylee will come out this year and will change the problems of the og and if its true thus is ny goty
I think it takes two proves that a platformer can win game of the year in these times

Astro Bot is modern Crash Bandicoot but way shorter than 1st and 2nd game.

Crash was mario back in the 90's
Did you know that Astro developers in 1995 created a game similar to Yoshi's Island?
Sony needs more games like Astro Bot.
Yeah, Platformers
The industry needs more games like Astrobot, and HiFi rush for that matter
Yeah, it would be good if they went back to basics with all kinds of platformers instead of the dull same looking shooters we’ve had for years now.
Playstation need move back Tokyo Japan because California is Democrat state with DEI
LittleBigPlanet
The main problem with the video game industry today is that larger companies expect gamers to do crunch time and pay the companies for it.
I GOT DISAPPOINTED IN BOTH STATE OF PLAYS BECAUSE THEY NEVER SHOWED SPYRO
You absolutely nailed it! We need more games like this :)
I miss the days when you talk about crash and speculate and get all excited.. we really need a new crash game 😞
I agree, PlayStation desperately needs a game like this, them going all in on the third person action adventure story cinematic game style while makes excellent games just doesn’t offer the variety that Nintendo so it’s either you like what PlayStation has or doesn’t and that just doesn’t work for sustained success
This game has the potential to be my actual GOTY. Industry needs games like this.. Not Concord, or whatever the name is..
There should be a polygon man as a secret boss
I had goosebumps when the Astro Bot trailer popped up at the finale of State of Play. SO Hyped for this game to release in September!
Astro Bot was really the only game I got excited for in the recent State of Play
Even a new update was released for Astro's Playroom that helped tie in with the upcoming game almost 4 years in the making
as Iwata once said:
"Games are meant to be one thing: Fun"
Seeing this and the OG Sly on recently on PS4/PS5 is starting to make me hopeful that these beloved franchises could make a comeback.
Astrobot was the ONLY good thing in that state of play.
And it's sad.
How has Nintendo lost their heart? They're nothing like Sony and Microsoft.
2:11 Melacholy version of the Crash Bandicoot theme?
The ONLY games I enjoyed so far in PS5 are
Ratchet & Clank Rift Appart
and
Astro Bot
I wonder why...
Is it because they actually PUSH the limits on what the PS5 and specially the Dualsense can offer?
There's been a lot of good PS5 games

We need more games like Astro bot.

Yooka replaylee will come out this year and will change the problems of the og and if its true thus is my goty

Sony lost crash , and the closest to get to crash is astrobot. I am glad he's getting his headline game , because just like crash there is this joy when playing their games.
You know that Crash was on the PlayStation since 2017 right? We even got Crash 4 on PS4/PS5
Sly, Ratchet, and Jak meant nothing?
U are right and here I saw gamers as Fortnite suckers but ig people can sometimes know what game is the diamond
This is a love letter to those of us who wanted more than the same old formula. Let's buy it and we'll support MORE games like this.
Thank you for sharing CGE, I totally agree. I’ve had this conversation many times with my siblings over the years. Cannot wait to play Astro Bot!
This looks like it has the potential to be what I've been wanting for a while now: another game like A Hat in Time!
There's plenty of good modern games though. Lol

Gaming feels different because it used to be smaller
Every industry that grows large enough gets invaded by suits who just seek to maximize profits and don’t care about the medium
Honestly I just don’t bother with AAA anymore, Bethesda RPGs will always be my guilty pleasure but what I live for are the indies and the “AA” games by teams with passion for the craft and the burning desire to create living worlds and tell stories
Or in Astro Bot’s case straight up mindless, colorful fun
All in favor of Astro Bot being PlayStation's official mascot...
Looks like Concord will die upon launch
I wasn't one for Astrobot before as I never knew much about it, but after the trailer would consider getting it because you're right and that it has the fun we have been missing. It also shown the twice burned Ape Escape fans we aren't fully forgotten about. Which reignited a small hope for me to one day see Ape Escape return.
Well put in the video! A lot of good points. I wish they spent a third of the show on astrobot instead.
Astro Bot was the only game at the stat of play that man I wish I had PS5 so I could play this game. Hopefully it gets released on PC.
Man you should play it on stream !!! please !!!
Xbox never had a heart
I think you are being a tad naive. Games have always been a business, its just the way games are played has changed. I blame the Internet.
I've become burned out on cinematic games with way too long cutscenes that could just as well have been a movie or show. I want more fun games that are actually games.
Soo games at heart are Platforming.. not even complaining xD.. it even has the floating islands of the ps1 era
Art is craft with love. There is scarily little of it.
I couldn't help but wonder since Astro Bot references games throughout Playstation history what are the odds it will reference Concord? They try to show their respect no matter the game so it's not out of the question.
Isn't Concord a 3rd Party title?
@@X2011racer It's being developed by Firewalk Studios who were aquired by Sony last year so it would be 1st party.
Astro Bot is a real video game, which you don't really see from AAA
