As a professional criminologist that studies these types of crimes/killers, Mr. Hauser's performance left me chilled. I have never, ever studied any type that he portrayed, with this type of psychopathy. I know it was adapted and "inspired" by the true events. However, after doing research on Larry Hall, his crimes, locations of his murders, as well as how this particular series played out, this is a must-see piece of work. I know Denis Lehane's work, and this is, in my opinion, has left me nearly speechless. I grew up close to an area of where perhaps some of these crimes could have been committed and it left me speechless, the hair on my neck stood up and I had the proverbial goose bumps. After one viewing, I have to go back and review it more closely. I just bought the book as well. This is my profession and I'm totally mesmerized by this. I can get the fact that there are some that confess to maybe 5 or 6 but if the number is what LEO's say that it could be, I'm in for a lot of sleepless nights and a ton of reading to do.
I'm on part 5 right now...and that scene where larry is describing his killing of that girl crying for her mother is so upsetting and both taron Egerton and Paul Walter hauser were phenomenal actors.
Give this guy awards for this role. I've seen the series twice now, and he is so good. Of course his voice is captivating, but his mannerisms, eye movement - his acting as a whole is brilliant.
just finished watch black bird - he acted superbly and larry's outburst when he finds out taron is setting him up is downright frightening and amazing performance
Just finished watching the series.......firstly, excellent series 👏. This guy was absolutely amazing and so believable . In my humble opinion, i hope he gets every award possible for this role 👌👏👏👏
Such a powerful series. I’m reading the book soon. The interviewer stated she found herself being empathetic towards the character of Larry. Hollywood can sometimes do a major disservice by portraying a violent criminal as a sympathetic character. I like how Hauser stated that they didn’t want to portray him as some one who deserves sympathy.
Thank you Mr. Hauser for more than doing justice to the portrayal of Larry Hall. I am from the Georgetown-Ridgefarm area and know this story quite well. You deserve to win an Emmy!
paul hauser is an outstanding actor. what a gem and so underrated! i watched the whole series because of him alone. first time i see him though. watched the first episode just to check it out and was mindblown by his performance, so i watched it all. hes definitely the star of this show. 🤯🤯🤯 im a fan now. we better see more of him in other projects. ❤️
That dude grabbed me by the kneck (pun intended) from his first scene. That was a tour de force performance and he should get the Emmy right now. No one else need apply. First time seeing him and I'm a fan already. Great actor! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Brilliant Actor, the roll Paul played was magnificently portrayed. Blew me off my feet! Knowing what I knew about the case and watching Paul play this role I was totally wowed by him and Taron both. I was hanging on my seat just mesmerized. PAUL NAILED THIS ROLL!!!! I am a fan of his hands down after seeing this roll and will watch any and every movie I ever see him in for sure. Was already a fan of Taron Egerton which is what brought me to watch Black Bird aside from being a true crime fan. Paul has won me over. Much respect for capturing the roll. That voice is what made the roll, even though he thinks he could have gotten away without doing it. By doing the voice it just made it so much more believable. TOTALLY WOWED BY PAUL!
The death of Philip Seymour Hoffman left a huge void in Hollywood for weird and ominous yet relatable characters. Paul Walter Hauser is the closest I've seen that's able to fill that void.
Hauser comes across as exceptionally self-aware and observant in this interview. Wasn't aware of him before Black Bird, but I will be looking out for him in future roles.
Black Bird was epic. They should also make a movie with him and Taron..They could overlap scenes to show Jimmy's and Larry's life leading up to before they're incarcerated
This guy is one of the best actors alive rightnow. If you need more from him?? Check out the show "Kingdom". This is the show that first introduced me to this actor. He does a phenomenal job playing "Keith".
He is brilliant in Blackbird ! Watching you feel sorry for him ! However, since it’s not the end of the series I’m interested in how viewers will feel then ?
I have been following Paul's career from doing series like Cobra kai to I Tonya and Black bird.I was truly amazed at his performance in this.He definitely deserves an Oscar for this.
He is amazing. His performance in this made me feel like I was watching Mindhunter.
I miss this show. I really do hope that there will be a season 3!
@@bambatacandt7921 yeah fingers crossed!
At first i thought he was edmund kemper lol
Shockingly, He and Ed Kemper's actor Cam Britton are close friend.

His performance in this is Emmy worthy. So so good.
Dude deserves whatever award he gets nominated for. He had me feeling some kinda way. Icky, angry, sad....everything. So good.
I wanted to take care of him

Remember, though, not to gaze into the abyss too much. The darkest, deepest recesses of the human soul can be draining if you don't come up for air!
Totally agree. He made the hair on the back of my neck stand up, too. Simply chilling in a way I've never seen on screen.
This dude is legitimately one of the best character/impression actors I’ve ever seen. Top notch stuff
I'm on part 5 right now...and that scene where larry is describing his killing of that girl crying for her mother is so upsetting and both taron Egerton and Paul Walter hauser were phenomenal actors.
I cried when they found the bike. Heartbreaking.
Give this guy awards for this role. I've seen the series twice now, and he is so good. Of course his voice is captivating, but his mannerisms, eye movement - his acting as a whole is brilliant.
He is so so outstanding! I am so impressed with this actor!
He is amazing in this role. I hope he gets the recognition he deserves and is offered more juicy roles like this one.
I don’t know who could beat this guy for an Emmy, that guy did an amazing job as a serial killer, jaw dropping performance
It's the voice, the eyes, the lack of humanity that he captured the most. Amazing.
Paul won the Emmy for supporting. Amazing performance.
“Is the writing good?” is the #1 question all actors should ask before taking a role. Great interview.
He is just unbelievable, one just has to respect his talent... man he just makes the character so complex chilling funny loving and just mind blowing.
just finished watch black bird - he acted superbly and larry's outburst when he finds out taron is setting him up is downright frightening and amazing performance
Give this man an Emmy!!!! He did a awesome job… wow just wow great actor

Thank you Mr. Hauser for more than doing justice to the portrayal of Larry Hall. I am from the Georgetown-Ridgefarm area and know this story quite well. You deserve to win an Emmy!
His Larry Hall voice is the equivalent of Javier Bardems hair in No Country for Old Men
His acting was simply majestic and it's really hard to find it in actors these days.I really hope he gets every recognition he deserve.
Just watched. Read the book years ago. This actor knocked it out of the park. Great portrayal of the psycho
Watched when it came out. Reading the book now.
Just finished the show.. holy crap was this cast incredible, guy was beyond acting
He is one of the best actors ever! Utterly brilliant

My man!! You know when this guy on a show or movie it’s gonna be good. Hugely underrated actor.
1 of the best performances I've seen. Unreal.
He is perfect in his skin. I am literally afraid of him. Dude you work awsome
That dude grabbed me by the kneck (pun intended) from his first scene.

He deserves an award!!! He was my favorite actor in this!

Yes, it's a start. A lot of actors are competent, and look good on camera. But actors with depth and originality and that something extra...are rare.
I cannot wait to see what projects he does in the future. He’s going to crush it
Just finished watching Blackbird and Hoffman did came to mind.
I watched two episodes and Hauser is simply amazing…
I loved The actors acting amazing 👌👌👍👍
This dude better win something. So convincing, sympathetic, yet bitter. Takes the real deal to act like this. What a legend
This show is a sweet mix of True Detective S1 and Mindhunter.
Best acting I have seen in years!

He deserves an Emmy
His performance was unbeliavable..
He is outstanding! he´d rather win an Emmy!!!
If this was a movie Paul Defo would’ve gotten the Oscar for his role as Larry.
You may not get Academy award, but I’m telling you this you got that peoples award way more valuable
Just watching the 3rd episode. This guy is mindblowing.
We got Evan peters as dahmer and Paul hauser as Larry in the same year. Both did such a great job
