- This is my Niece’s Speech at her Father’s Funeral 😭
“Hello. My name is Polyana Moira Ofa Isama’u. I am 12 years old and I am the daughter of Henry Webb Manatukisuva Isama’u and Ainise Kilinalivoni Isama’u.
“Rejoice in the lord, again I say rejoice.” That was the first Bible verse my dad ever taught me in my life and that I was able to say for my very first fakame. He even taught me my first prayer. Dad always shared verses of the Bible for me to memorize and would teach me how to pray. I cherish those moments.
First and foremost, I would like to thank God for this blessing to share about my dad and to tell him that I love him and miss him very much. We would braid my hair. He even learned how to braid two different ways so I could have multiple hairstyles. I had an awesome girl dad.
He was one of the most hardworking people I have ever known in my life. He did everything to the best of his abilities. From raising me, to school and giving me advice about life.
When he got the job at SkyWest Airlines at the Salt Lake City Airport, I was kind of sad bc I knew that I would have to share him, but there was never a time I felt alone. We would text, he would call me and FaceTime me. I would see him try his best to come back home every weekend and then went back home every Monday. My dad wanted to provide for all our families wants and needs.
He was also an athletic person he would come outside and teach me boxing and play volleyball or other sports with me. He would teach me how to cook meals for him and then my family and always tried his best to be here for our family.
One of the biggest things I learned from my dad and will try my best to keep doing and growing is loving God and making sure I knew how to pray and did it everyday. No matter where we were, dad always reminded me to pray. Always give thanks to God for everything. No matter what, always give thanks to God. I hold that dear to my heart and will try my best to keep up with my prayers and keep learning about God.
Dad, I love you. You have to know, you were a great dad. An amazing dad. I know with all my heart that you loved me and mom so much. I got to witness even how deeply you loved your mom and sisters. You spoke with truth and tried your best to do what’s right.
I pray to make you proud. Watch over mom and me. Especially when I know she cries and tries to hide it from me. It’s going to be hard living life without you, but I thank God always for the 12 years I had with you here on Earth. Ofa lahi atu!”
