Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out new videos every week! We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.

We have a method with 18-wheelers. Instead of saying the distance, do a vertical hand distance, and then there is a visual representation to the driver of how much distance is between the trailer back bumper and the loading dock. Just lower down the higher hand until you get both hands together - then do the military hand signal of clenched fist as "stop."

Hollar Homestead just butchered their 2 year old jersey steer and they said it is the best beef they have ever had. They let the steer nurse until they sold their milk cow back in the summer. They believe that is why the meat is so good. That steer weighed 1300 lbs when they butchered it. Good milk makes good meat!

About 25 yrs. Ago, my husband had a vet and beef rancher come out because he thought I was starving my Jersey steer. I am so glad that your vet said what I learned when I was a child regarding the difference in the built of the breeds. Also a tidbit for those who may be feeding a bottle baby- to help prevent the scours from developing I added some powders oats to the formula/grain offered -adjust according to size but I started out with 2 ounces each feeding. I don’t comment often, but love your channel.

I'm old and lived in cities and suburbs most of my life, but this was fascinating to watch even though I'll never be in the position of having to care for a dairy cow or calf. My late mother-in-law was a small-town vet who did all the things your vet does, and had a small ranch herself that I loved to visit. I've heard her mention some of the things the animals needed, but never had the opportunity to see actually how one trims a cow's hoof (and didn't know really why, either). Thanks to both of you and your vet (and technicians) for bringing something so informative to everyone. Babe and Ralphie are beautiful animals, and it's heartwarming to see the care that all of you give them.

Thank you! This was so educational! I wish you could video tape the entire procedure and post it on your website with a caution for educational purposes. I found this fascinating and learned SO much! Thank you! And it looks like Babe benefited from her "pedicure"! Did you notice her walking slightly differently once she got back home? Wonderful! Thank you again, so much! Kudos to the Ava Vets! So professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate.

Very good video! These farm adventures are rarely, if ever, seen. This shows the real world, and this is what you need to be aware of when you want to take on the homestead challenge. I actually saw a comment, yesterday, - yikes?? ( paraphrased)- "We just bought a homestead, and I just purchased MY VERY FIRST SEEDS and am excited about learning how to grow a garden." I do wish them all the best!
