    Just picked one of these up in totally mint condition from 1982 it had been under a bed for 40 years and is unmarked and functions like the day it was bought.
    Outplays any of my tokais and Gibson's and fenders what a guitar 🎸
    Brilliant build and superb tone and feel

    My Thunder 1A is my all-time favourite guitar! It's awesome and with that active tone the thing can sound like anything from Thunder to The Apocalypse. That's my theory Westone "Thunder 1 Apocalypse" 😃 I remember when I got it taking it to school and cranked the active tone and it completely saturated the Amp! Other guitars just didn't stand a chance! It sounds so much like mine! Obviously very consistently made.

      yeah the japanese really know how to build guitars - every thunder ive played has felt and sounded identical

      @@MADMALKO I prefer my Westone over most of the guitars in my collection. That includes two quite valuable Fender Strats! If I had to choose one guitar for the rest of my life, it would be my Thunder 1A! 😎

    The Westone Forum is also a useful resource. Great, great guitars. My first guitar, which I still have, but haven’t played in years, is an early Thunder I with brass bridge and nut. Must dig it out over Christmas.

    Great video✌found you while searching thunder guitars😁now i will watch more of your reviews and demos if i ever have enough time😂😂.I have a 1981 thunder 1a I've owned 30+years and a 1a bass,(the twins as they're are known,although one is a bit taller and heavier built😉)most people have no clue as to their quality although as you said interest and prices are increasing😁just wish i could play it a hundredth as well as you😞

    The best guitar I ever had, including big names and prices, this was waaaaay better. Mine had brass bridge and nut,Westone eagle embossed on neck plate. Oh and knobs were,parallel sided and knurled

    Sid Poole made some fancy ones. I quite liked them, well, the Corsair Classic, because they were ash and you can see the wood. But you’re right, they aren’t that fancy. And they started at about £500, so were probably not much cheaper than a USA Strat and way out of my league.

    Malko Incase you are puzzled by how you can find a track broken on the PCB , here is a theory. A lot of people when it comes to changing batteries , for one reason or another , opt for rechargeable batteries. These batteries have discharge currents hundreds of times greater than the ordinary ones. Getting things wrong with the plus and minus or even any momentary short circuit will vapourise the PCB track in milliseconds. A good reason not to choose them to power up high price tag items.

    • @MADMALKO
      @MADMALKO  3 роки тому

      oh i didnt know that - makes sense though, i could physically see some tracks on this that looked suspect - mainly the ones going to the batterys so i tested them with the multimeter and wired over the burst ones

    A guy is offering me a Westone what looks like it says X275 on truss cover. White ish. Chrome hardware maple neck rosewood fb. Black headstock Pantera ....Hss. Would you know of it would be worth trading a Harley Benton Fusion T HH fnt for it!? Value wise I wonder as it's 83 and looks good but worry about how well it would hold up. I'm a player more than collector and I do like the HB and he must also.

    • @MADMALKO
      @MADMALKO  2 роки тому

      cant be 83 - may be 88? , does it say matsumoku on the neckplate? the pantera didnt come out till 87- i do have a pantera x300 from 87 and its fabulous, miles better than a harley b imo
