Thank you so much for the reccomendations. Bought several of them but my favorite is the Concise British Flora in Colour. Love all your work.
So wonderful of you to do this video. It is very helpful to actually see the books and know what to look for. Thanks for sharing.
You have a wonderful collection of books Tracie! Thank you for showing these.
Thank you Tracie for this information. I have watched many of your videos and often wondered where your images come from. What a wealth of information!!! Incredible images!!!
Watching this AMAZING 2018 video today in 2023 and it’s as relevant as ever !! Thank you so much for sharing your favorites with us 🤍🤍🤍
You are so welcome!
Love seeing your favorite books! Thanks for sharing them with us 😘❤
Thanks so much Tracie. Love all those books.
You are so awesome for sharing your beautiful resource books with us. I am always hesitant to buy nature books online when I cannot see the inside pages so this was so helpful to me. Thanks so much for taking the time to share.
Love Marjolein Bastin! So many beautiful books! It's hard to rip them up unless you have two copies, I have found. Informative and helpful! TFS, Tracie!
Love your videos and listening to you talk about your projects. Thanks for all your inspiration. I have the Edith Holden books and just can't cut into them. They are so pretty.
TFS! The Victorian Flower Album, my best friend gave me for my birthday one year, so it will be very hard to rip apart, but I have ordered another copy, as well as some other beautiful flower books. Thanks again for taking the time to show your books and what you use.
Thank you Tracie. This is very helpful for me since I have to buy all my stuff on line. And a LOT of venders do not show you what the inside of the books look like.
No one gardens like the British! Wonderful books!Have a few of them myself. Thanks for taking the time and sharing, Tracie!🌸🌼💐🌻🌿🍁❤
Very useful ... as always Tracie - your amazing! Thank you for sharing...❤️🐞
Thank you sooo much for sharing your book selections. Very helpful!
I also don't like the shiny papers and never thought of using gesso on them! thank you so much for the idea
Awesome collection of books! Great video thanks 😊
Thank you Tracie - of course I made a list and will be on the lookout for these. Amazon is great for finding books, I almost always find the best books and prices there and my local thrift shops are really hit and miss. Now onto your next tutorial lol
Thank you so much for sharing this, I’m off to see my mum who is a horticulturist and has hundreds of garden/flower books! I think she might be missing a few by the time I’ve left 😃😃😃 🌻x
this was so helpful and inspiring! thanks so much for sharing your book choice with us.
You have me Googleing away trying to find these books...how lovely...thanks for sharing!
Tfs! It gave me few tips how to recognize the good illustration books. ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing! This is really useful for me as a beginner, as I have had trouble finding suitable books so far - at least without looking at them in the shop and making sure there are drawn botanical images in them.
I ordered a few books today after watching this video. Thank you. Your recommendations helped me very much. Stay safe my friend! 😊
Thank you for sharing these amazing books!!! 😊🌸💞
Awesome books. I'm going to start checking the thrift shops and libraries. Thanks so much!!!
Thank you for sharing!! Screen shot everything 😘
Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful books with us.

Oh your tags are gorgeous, Thank you for the freebie and the giggle ...Kia Kaha...😀
Than you for sharing this Tracie. Very useful information. Xx
Thanks so much for the tip on using gesso on shiny pages! xx
Super books, they get harder to find locally now- But don't really have room ! Thanks for sharing them.
Thank you for sharing this! This is so helpful! Xx
Kia ora/Hi Tracie, i am going to look for Poems of the Countryside, what a beautiful book. Tfs xx
Great selecction!, I have a couple of them from amazon and they are beautiful
Thank you. Already ordered some!
Wonderful book ideas Tracie They are beautiful. Another resource in the USA is Powell's Bookstore online. I have ordered some floral and vintage books from them.
I have found this video to be really great! I have often wondered what books you use and where you find them. I've done some Amazon searches, and will likely be placing an order!
Wonderful resource for us. Thank you so much. I can recommend Janet Marsh’s Nature Diary. It popped up as a recommendation on Amazon when I was looking at an Edith Holden listing, and decided to take a chance. It is not as image heavy as the books you’ve shown here, but the illustrations and hand lettering are lovely. The paper is a lovely ivory matte cardstock.
Thank you, I have a couple copies of Nature Diary but I just could not show everything. These are my recent and most used books :-) I love the have done illustrations :-D xxx
Thank you so much for sharing these awesome books
You are brilliant! Love your videos.
Thanks for showing us this idea. I will check Amazon and thrift stores.
I live in California and so we don't have access to the British books and Amazon is sometimes way more than is reasonable. However I've managed to collect a few of Edith Holden, some of the Observers and that one with the floral wreath on the front. I'm going to watch again and make a list. Our local SPCA has a sale every spring and this year I found a load of books including "foreign". Thanks for sharing your inspiration and your talents with us!
Thank you so much 😊 Tracie, that’s so very helpful and useful, everyone will be on Amazon now trying to get those awesome books 📚. You’re the bees 🐝 knees and I really love 💕 you!!!!!!! xx Mags
Thank you sweetie for taking time to watch and comment xxx
Thanks for sharing this info. I have a couple of these, the rest I got of Amazon from the used books for sale fairly cheap and I have just bought Beningfields English Farm book from car boot for 50p 😀
Great books! Thanks for sharing 💕
I was able to find "A Field Guide in Colour to Wild Flowers" on Amazon - thank you for recommending it! After Edith Holden's books its my favorite. Almost 400 pages and EVERY page has text on one side and beautiful color drawings of flowers on the other side. I'm in the US and find a lot of these books through ThriftBooks also. This one was only $7 US and free shipping from the UK. Great find!
Great books Tracie, especially the Easdale island book l didnt know it exsisted, will definitely have to get that one it literally has my name all over it . Regards Susanna ❤
Great selection Tracie. Got several of these too. They are lovely.
Hope rain and storm Callum ok down there. Been bad up here. In bus stop hiding frae rain lol xxx
It is now really sunny but super windy! Has been since last night. The rain has passed for now :-D xx Take care lovely xx
This is such a godsend. I don't have any good bookstores around me and don't like to leave my house. Now I can shop online from home. Thank you! :)
So cool and I just got back from a book fair where although I searched for Edith Holden I did find a British gardens book here on Vancouver island, Canada!! One day I believe Edith will find me ☺️
Thanks Tracie. I have ordered some from Amazon, really cheap but postage pushed it up, still only £10 for three books. I look forward to using the images.
This was wonderful! Thank you so much!
Thanks huni x
Love those books ❤️
Thank you so much!! Have a great day.
wow excellent resources. Thanks for sharing
Fabulous, thank you! 💜
thanks Tracie.. i off to hunt some old books
Thank you, great post 💚💛
Fabulous ! Thank you soooo much !
Thank you Tracie for mentioning using gesso to dull down as I have been disgarding the shiny books ...silly me xxx
Such a gorgeous collection of books. Seems the books from the US are no where near as pretty. I have a few books I ordered from Abe Books and Thrift Books that come from Europe, Britain, etc that I love. You may want to check their sites out. I have been satisfied with the books I have ordered and cheaper than Amazon. Just wanted to share those sites with you. Some of the stores that sell there may be close to you, I have no idea. Lol.
This was so helpful to see what are in these books. You are the best. Hugs! 🤗🤗🤗🌻🦋🌸
TFS I’m gunna be in trouble now. I’ve got some Edith Holden and Observer Books but none of the others! I can hear Peters comments already 😂😂😂
Super great info.
You've inspired me to go shopping. Uh oh! 😳
Thanks for the good helpful information 💟from Cape Town
TFS. Very helpful video.
Great video. British books are the best!
Thank you for sharing!
Tracie you can also get them at your local library in the states. Tyfs
Thank you, Tracie! I made a list! :-)
If you are in the UK, a lot of the National Trust properties have second hand books for sale. A great place to pick up all sorts of books especially Edith Holden I've noticed lately. I have a lot of the books you showed and was wondering how to use them, and now I know. Thanks ever so much for all your videos, sooo inspiring
Oh yes, I have been xx
Although, most recent visit was Sutton Hoo. I dont recommend the £25 is cost for 3 of us to get in. To look at a pile of dirt! LOL x The book shop was the best bit! xx
I'm a member which keeps the cost down and leaves me more book spending monies =)
Thank you so much.
MUST LOOK LIBRARY, IN FREE BOX, GIVE A WAY'S, COULD CUT THEM UP, BUT MY OWN CHILDRENS BOOKS. NUP!
GLAD TO SEE WHAT U USE, GAVE ME SOME IDEAS. 😘 FROM OZ.
Thank you!
Thank you
I think I encouraged your to spend your penny's on the Island Diary. If you like that book you may like Richard Bells Britain. The book is a bit smaller (10 x 7). The images are on a darker (craft like) mat paper, and are more earth tones rather than the bright water colour of the Island book. There are not many good images on Google that show the pages but the cover sleeve is a good representation of the contents. Ebay has some good images at the moment. Thanks for sharing your collection.
Ah yes! Thank you so much again for the recommendation :-D xxx
ooh 1969 Thats the year I was born lol The books are so pretty, Id be reluctant to cut them up lol I am planning to paint my own illustrations ;) and use my own photographs ;) At least that is the plan lol T x
Oh that sounds wonderful xx
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you😍😍😍😍🙏🏻🥰😘🇧🇷
Thank you so much for showing which books you use. I have one book that I picked up at a yard sale but I can't bring myself to repurpose it. There is no copyright on it. And it was printed in 1970. I'm wondering if I could photo copy it on my printer and use it. It isWildflowers of the World by Barbara Everand and Brian D. Morley.
If it was printed in 1970, there will be copyright hun xx
You lost me at Fussy Cutting!!! LOLOLOLOLOL These are gorgeous Dude!!! xoxoxo M
LOL LOL
xxx
Your books are beautiful. I’ll be on the lookout to start a collection. Love your videos. Have you gotten your kitty yet. I’m in the US.
Tomorrow morning Luna is coming :-D Can't wait hun xx
Great video - looking forward to seeing tutorials of how you use the pages. What gesso did you use on the tags you showers? I have golden gesso and it’s quite thick and plasticky whereas yours looked more chalky (unless it’s the way you apply it?) xx
It is chalky. I love it. xx Windsor and Newton xx
Thanks- I’ll look out for it. Would love to see a video of how you store everything in your craft room! X
with the observers books if you are buying online, how can you tell if they are the illustrated ones vs the ones with photos in ? thanks
Not sure how you know what you are buying when it is online. I have just had to make a judgment or purchase books I have had before xx
amazon here i come:)x
lucky you, in my country (Netherland ) it is 330.00 eurois 300 pond
Nothing like the British Isle flowers
There are no English books here I’ve checked everywhere & my friend in Brisbane is searching as well😕
Brilliant Tracie wonderful books , I am always on the lookout for books. Now I know you have multiples I don't have to cringe every time I see a page out of book I would HOARD lol
LOL Ann, I buy them to use, so I use them. Some I buy as books to keep and read like normal people LOL xx
thank you so much for the video.....although it did cost me about 60$ canadian as it went and bought some of the books off amazon uk! :) :) lol
Oh sorry huni :-O xxx
Hi Tracie, I'm completely new to journals and have subscribed to so many amazing channels, including your own!
How does a newbie deal with the maze of copyright? the books you've mentioned are all fairly modern, what are you allowed to do to/with them? I see a few Etsy sellers have licences for use if you're selling something that's made with their digital image packs.
Thanks Tracie...It's all a bit of a minefield, I'm itching to start making and selling but don't want to break any rules.
Rule number 1: Do not copy anything to use unless you are 100% sure its ok. Original book pages are generally ok to use but avoid anything with Disney. Don't title your journals with the same name as any book. Also, check out the basic Copyright guide on my Webesite under useful links xx
Thanks Tracie :)
Hi love what you show but do you know how copyright works with cutting up books ?
love to hear back from you or others as l have found great books but again not sure if I can use Cheers
You are usually ok to use original books, if they are still under copyright...with a few exceptions. Check the info in the books you have, thats a great starting place huni. xxx
Tracie Fox LoveJunk Journals Thank you for your reply Take care
Sorry, My ignorance is showing, but what is a "carboot"? The first book on Amazon is listed for $18.23 US & free shipping and $14.24 & $3.99 shipping in used very good condition. Excellent info, thx so much dearest. Toodle-oo
Hehe, it is like a market/yard sale. People take there stuff to sell to one place. xx
You have a wonderful talent. I love your Etsy store. I purchase your products often. Although, I have noticed that on the envelopes I purchased, when I print them and, go to cut them out, the lines are barely visible, making it difficult to see. I do not want a refund and, I will still continue purchasing from your store, I just wanted to inform you is all. Keep up the awesome videos and I'll keep learning. GOD BLESS
Hi there, Thats odd. Almost all of my envelopes are colour or pattern and I have cut a lot out. Maybe it is the white envelopes, just the one set? Sorry you have issues cutting them huni x
I had a look at your purchase and you have the cream. If you print these onto white they are very easy to cut out. The white envelopes came free with the kit xx
No worries. for me. I do need to clarify the envelope I am speaking of. The white envelope only is the one I was talking of. I am so sorry.
Thank you, Ms. Tracie, for taking out the time to get back with me. I really do appreciate it very much. You are truly very thoughtful. I did go back and print the white onto tea died paper and it was so pretty thank you very much.
have you completed a video in which you show us how to do fussy cutting :)
Do you have any sewing books you could recommend for journal making ?
Mmmm. not really. I have some sewing and knitting pattens but not really my thing huni, sorry xx
Tracie Fox LoveJunk Journals ..no problem, it was worth a try since you had such wonderful floral books! Thanks anyways :-)
I need this book in pdf, is it possible, how to get?
No it is still in copyright so cannot be sold/used in a digital form x
1st book Flowers of the British VERY expensive ON EBAY
Well I guess it may depend where you are but keep looking the do go up and down the prices x
