What a beautiful and unusual meeting. Honestly, I never thought Billie Joe would pair up with Norah. How good they've formed! They made a wonderful album!
This is very good stuff! What an excellent tribute. I was born in 1956 and have been literally a lifelong fan of the Everly Brothers. I really got into them when they had their TV show in the summer of 1970. I am very impressed with this obvious passion for Don and Phil Everly. I can truly imagine that this will turn a lot of younger people into Everly Brothers fans.
Ok I'm crying because my sister said he would be a good country singer 15 years ago and I finally got to bless my ears with that magical sound today and right now I'm going to make my sister listen to this
Excellent! A real diversion from modern music, I feel that this type of music really needs to be promoted more and these two are a perfect match to make it happen! I'm a Green Day fan, I could talk about them for hours, but I'm not here to talk about that. Big up for Billie and Norah, I hope this album does reach the charts and my generation can relate, appreciate and really see the true side from this type of genre!
I agree! But it's always to branch out of your 'comfort zone'! I'd love to hear him sing other covers like the Beatles, frank Sinatra, Barry mani low etc
He was a singer before he was a Punk. The intro to international superhits is actually Billie as a child, in the same studio Green Day recorded Dookie years later.
JUST TIMELESS .THOSE VOICES ,WOW! ITS LIKE THEY WERE ALWAYS MEANT TO HARMONIZZZE TOGATHER AS ONE.HOW BEAUTIFUL,NORAH HAS A GOD GIVEN TALENT .THE FACE AND VOICE OF AN ANGEL. BILLIE JOE IS AWESOME TOO!
I think this is brilliant! I love Green Day! I love Norah Jones! I grew up on country music and diversified my taste in music to include many other genres. I wish more people would do that. Most great musical artists have a deep appreciation for music in general, not just their own genre. Thank you Billy & Norah!
I can't believe what i'm hearing, my Dad used to sing some of these songs to me when i was just a little girl..brought tears to my eyes.. Wow still hard to believe..
Dear fools who only say crap... This is NOT Green Day, this is a special project where Billie Joe joined in with Norah Jones made as a tribute to the Everly Brothers. Stop thinking this is the GD's fucking end, because it is not! Stop thinking Billie Joe Armstrong it's not the same guy from Rodeo, Oakland, because he still is! It is only a project, and let me tell you this is GREAT. Billie Joe is a very complete musician and you fuckers can't deny it. Yes, I'm speaking just like a Belieber or a Directioner, but guys if you don't like it, just don't listen to it. BTW, Green Day still being the punk rock band we always loved and they just grew up and developed. Enjoy music.
Never in a million years would I have thought these two could pull this off. Sounds great! I loved the original Everly's "Songs Our Daddy Taught Us" and this does it justice. Like the original Down in the Willow Garden better though. Even bon Iver's version.
I love this album so much! Probably one of my favorite things Billie has ever done. I probably listen to it every single day on repeat in my car and it never grows old, I love the warm & cozy Fall/Christmas feeling it has :)
Why is everyone surprised that one of the greatest songwriters regardless of genre is playing " music like this " This doesn't surprise me .....it's fitting as hell
Today (Aug. 22, 2021), Don Everly died at 84, and I read several news reports. Some said that John Lennon and Paul McCartney not only modeled their harmonies on those of the Everly Bros. (no surprise), but that they even considered performing as the Foreverly Bros., just the two of them. I remember listening to Don and Phil on my sister's little transistor radio in 1957, and thinking how magical their singing was. RIP Everly Bros. You were something else.
The modern day Johnny and June ladies and gentlemen. Wow, I'm so impressed with this album! Billie is a musician not just the lead singer of Green Day, get over it.
They are so good together ! Specially the song : Long time gone. I could listen to it without cease. Thanks! and if I had such a beautiful voice as Norah......
I didn't think anyone could do this album like the Everlys, but this is beautiful! The harmony is great! These are songs from the roots of country music.
Never have I liked this type of music. I wouldn't even listen to it if you gave me a pandora station on this and I got payed a dollar for every time a new song came on. But oh my God, this album is amazing. Both voices are spectacular.
this is one of the best music of all the world!!!! i really like this cd it's amazing how they can sing really country music..!!! please, Do more of this kind of music!!
I really enjoyed listening to the album (do they still use that word?). I'm reading a lot of comments about Billie Joe losing his edge, getting old, or what have you, but I enjoy seeing other dimensions of the artists I admire. One can be a Billie Joe fan, a Norah Jones fan, a Green Day fan, or not. One can simply be a music fan, which I believe I am, and enjoy (or not) the music on its own merit (or lack thereof.) I have eclectic tastes, therefore I enjoy watching artist leave their comfort zone, or do something different from what they're known for. Like when Steven Tyler recorded with Willie Nelson, or Sting did medieval music. Not all is to my taste, but it interests me just as well.
Even Mike Ness from the punk band Social Distortion does country music on the side. I have eclectic tastes as well and love to see artists sometimes leave the music that they are known for. Sometimes its refreshing to see what comes of it.
This is pretty good. But, when you listen to the old Everly's album, particularly Long Time Gone, the harmony and blend of their voices was so perfect that it added a dimension far beyond the songs themselves. This is nice to listen to, but the Everlys were magic.
I love it! We live in times when good musicians can make good music, regardless of style (just rock, just hip hop, just pop, etc.). Poor of those who are limited to one category and not allowed to hear other things.
Well guys, you've just pryed the money out of my pocket for this album. I thought there was a screw up on the radio when I heard this recording of Long Time Gone and thought it was the one by the Everlys'! Played it for my folks, both of whom are close in age to and grew up with the Everly Brothers and their music, and Mom too thought it was Don and Phil (R.I.P.), not knowing it was Norah Jones and Billy Joe Armstrong (and maybe who they are). Fantastic Work!
Beautifully done. Not familiar with Jones or Armstrong's other work, but this effort takes the Everly's original album to a higher level, in my opinion. Love listening to it...
Kyle Roberts hello Kyle the songs are on the Everly Brothers album: Songs our Daddy tought us. The album of Norah and Billy is a big tribute to Don and Phil. Greetings from a long life Everly fan.
Erm Warner… I bought this album. One minute record labels are yelling how people shouldn't download and the next minute I buy an album and you upload the whole thing for free online. I'm sure Billy Joe is happy to receive even less royalties this way than he would through Spotify or purchasing it. On the actual music. Really really good. I like a bit of Green Day, mainly the older stuff, but Billy's voice shines through much better on this album I find. Great bringing some classics back to life as well.
im not a fan of this type of music BUT Billie joe has the talent to pull this off, and yeah the pre american idiot era was better but they are a great band on record and live
I'm sure he would appreciate it if you called him by the name he was given, it's not hard, it is written in the title above Billie Joe with an -ie not -y
Viva la Free Download!!! The most important is that everyone can hear this! it's amaizing. I don't have fuckin money to buy the original album! And Billie doesn't care if you buy it,download, steal or whatever...as long as u appreciate his work, and enjoying the music. Do you really think he wants to make a profit from this album?! No. ...but i paid concert ticket last year! The most expensive, for the first row. That's enough if the band(green day) wanna make more money ;)
I just listened to Green Day, Foxboro Hot Tubs (Side band), and then this and lemme tell ya, Billie Joe can do it all. From hard punk rock to soft, gentle music, he is a real talent! I'd love just to interview him one day
To accomplish and to reach the heights of such professionalism when diversifying from what someone is used to doing normally can only be termed as "BRILLIANT". Thank you Billie Joe, Norah and of course WB.
Both of their voices have a nasal aspect to them and they both have great range. They blend perfectly and you can tell there's not a lot of studio mixing here. What a treat!
This was my GG's(great grandma) favorite CD. She was one of my rocks through my entire life until she passed away about a year and a half ago. I'm buying it as a tribute to her
The music is amazing! Both performers are exceedingly talented. The comments make me think of what folks might have said that fateful day in 1965 when Dylan plugged his guitar in. Some folks do not deal well with change. In the end, the music I like satisfies the same place in the brain as the shit ass music someone else might like.
I absolutely love Norah Jones and Billie so seeing them collaborate to create this amazing album in honor of a classic duo is just pure awesomeness ❤❤❤
The reason why this record turned out so well is because Billie Joe has a feeling for the old days that very, very fiew modern artists have. The Stray Cats for example play 50´s rock´n´roll and rockabilly, but they don´t have that feeling (not saying their music is bad). It´s not so much about duplicating the sound perfectly, it´s something else, hard to describe. The person, although not old enough to have experienced the old days (50´s, 60´s) somehow has to get that, well, feeling, from back then, inside him, and to know how it was, although he has never been there. Not the feeling of the music, but the feeling of the "air". I don´t know how to say it. D´you guys know what I am trying to say?
Sorry, but you "do" realise who his proverbial dance partner is, yes? It had nothing to do with him finding the "feel" and everything to do with having a super songstress with the voice of an angel to draw the best out of him for that sort of music. It's her bread and butter, what she does. And by that point she'd already collaborated with probably 100 other musicians, so, she's a dab hand at that too. Oh, and she's Norah Jones. The most iconic chanteuse of the modern age, and one of the greatest talents in the world. But sure, Foreverly worked because of Billie Joe Armstrong alone? Or, and here me out, it was a collaboration between two talents, with the jazz/country/fusion/all sorts of other things, piano maestro, showing the rock god how acoustics work. I'm just throwing that out there. [Make of it what you will]
"Songs Our Daddy Taught Us" was a tremendous influence on a generation of alt-country musicians, and apparently on a lot of punks too. This is a loving re-creation of a classic album, and hopefully will send a new generation of listeners back to the source.

Thank you so much.
Thanks, thanks, thanks!!
Thank you!
The fact that this album defies expectations and pisses some people off makes it as punk as anything Billie Joe has done. Awesome album.
Quite right.
What a beautiful and unusual meeting. Honestly, I never thought Billie Joe would pair up with Norah. How good they've formed! They made a wonderful album!

What's a "GREEN DAY"???
@@georgescarlett2320 This may help answer that question: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Day
They sound FANTASTIC together. I'm really enjoying this album.
I can't believe what i'm hearing, my Dad used to sing some of these songs to me when i was just a little girl..brought tears to my eyes.. Wow still hard to believe..
Thank you ...especially to my mother for sharing her love of music with me....RIP (mom) Phyllis n Phil

This really shows the Everly's country roots. These two did a great job on these songs.
Billie Joe...awesome.
Norah...goddess of song.
Everly Brothers...sublime.
BJ+Norah Foerverly...perfection.
Its True Billie Joe Armstrong and Norah Jones are PERFECT
Two beautiful voices combining flawlessly. Lovely album.
Holy shit. I didn't know he was so versatile.
Never in a million years would I have thought these two could pull this off. Sounds great! I loved the original Everly's "Songs Our Daddy Taught Us" and this does it justice. Like the original Down in the Willow Garden better though. Even bon Iver's version.

ive been a huge fan of green day and norah jones. literally found out about this album by accident tonight. this album is goddamn amazing
same fucking here, man
Why would 9 people dislike this?
I'm not a fan of this type of music, but this sound amazing! ;-)
Why? Because they thought that was a download button...... That's an old joke my grandfather told me when I was younger.

Deaf?
I don’t see any dislikes. Shows 0
It's funny , I never would have put these two together yet I'm a huge fan of both of them. The result is unbelievably nice!
True that! 😀👍
Billie has helped me through tough times in my life and I could hear him for the rest of my life
They are so good together ! Specially the song : Long time gone. I could listen to it without cease. Thanks! and if I had such a beautiful voice as Norah......

AWESOME Album. They harmonize beautifully. Great guitar work too.
I didn't think anyone could do this album like the Everlys, but this is beautiful! The harmony is great! These are songs from the roots of country music.
These two people are talented by themselves, but together? They are amazing!
I hope they do more stuff in the future together

wonderful tribute for the Everly Brothers RIP Phill

awesome album
thx Pablo for given it a 1
Thx Shery for given it a 1
thx Alvaro for given it a 1
This album is fantastic! Billy and Norah have beautiful voices while singing together, and apart.
An incredible tribute to a legendary pair of musicians, by a great modern pair of musicians. What more could you ask for?
Rarely I listen an entire youtube album in one sit. Billie Joe Armstrong and Norah Jones together, just too good to pass.
lol johny cash has a song with a character in it named billie joe "Dont take you guns to town son" or something like that
Whoever produced this album is brilliant !
This is pretty good. But, when you listen to the old Everly's album, particularly Long Time Gone, the harmony and blend of their voices was so perfect that it added a dimension far beyond the songs themselves. This is nice to listen to, but the Everlys were magic.
Agree. Norah and Billie Joe get the harmonies right, but the blend of these two voices is not like the brother act.
That's what made them famous. This is still an enjoyable listen
I'm not usually a huge fan of this type of music, but it sounds nice & I love bj and would support him in any endeavor because I just love him.
Billy Joe and Norah Jones. So many people would scoff at that but what a combination.
Meow :3
O.O
I was joking :p
i know, my sister told me to change it lol
lol tell your sister thanks
I love it!

I couldn't agree more. Are you Brazilian, btw?
Old school Country songs have never sounded so good. Sometimes covers are better than the originals.
Without the Everly Brothers, there wouldn't be this album, so, both are amazing.

Billie Joe nails Dons low harmony perfectly.
i literally thought of johnny cash and june carter when the first song started
Same !
Me too!
I thought this was more reminiscent of Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris
gotta say i had no idea what to expect when i heard about this but its amazing!
The Hit Songs The Everly Brothers are remembered.
That album is awesome!! I don´t stop listening!
So don't I.
Beautifully done. Not familiar with Jones or Armstrong's other work, but this effort takes the Everly's original album to a higher level, in my opinion. Love listening to it...
norah jones is into blues and jazz, billie joe armstrong is in a punk rock band called green day. they are both amazing artists.
Raisa Shams I agree, as you can see i love Green Day lol
I'm glad you like it please check out the album warning by green day it's billie joe Armstrong's main band
XDapwnage3 warning is a great album and very underrated i only suggested it because he seems to like the softer stuff broseph

That's enough if the band(green day) wanna make more money ;)
they sound perfect together...
I'm going to save this album on my Likes, and play it on my next Road Trip to California from Phoenix Arizona! Great Sound!
I just listened to Green Day, Foxboro Hot Tubs (Side band), and then this and lemme tell ya, Billie Joe can do it all. From hard punk rock to soft, gentle music, he is a real talent! I'd love just to interview him one day

Great combination, they sound great together
How I love Billie's voice
Very nice tribute to the Everly Brothers
"All I have to do is dream"... pije song of Everly Brothers!
Barbara Allen!..i just love his voice
Both of their voices have a nasal aspect to them and they both have great range. They blend perfectly and you can tell there's not a lot of studio mixing here.
What a treat!
billie joe armstrong 1988 - 2009 thanks for everything.
Billie Joe Armstrong 1972 - 2082 thanks and keep it up.
Just bought it as a perfect Christmas gift.
Love it. They should do a 2nd CD!!!
This was my GG's(great grandma) favorite CD. She was one of my rocks through my entire life until she passed away about a year and a half ago. I'm buying it as a tribute to her
Oh man... this whole thing is just beautiful :)
Great tribute and some very fine harmonies.
This is one great album! It's amazing. I really feel like Billie Joe should go do something at Sun Studios that would be an amazing thing.
I can hear this all day.
I will enjoy this album for many years!
Just got this on vinyl today
I really hope there is a encore in the works! This is great! :)
Great songs, great album, great collaboration.
:D Me encanta el genero Country
Y las voces de Billie y Norah Jones. Hacen un buen álbum
:)
This may be my new favorite thing.....

If it gets people listening to the Everly Brothers then it has done its job. Sounds just fine to me.
Fully agreed. It is very rare that modern artists actually do the music from the 50´s and 60´s justice on modern covers. These two managed.
OMG. this is so awesome. I think I'm in love with this album.
Damn this is amazing. Harmony could melt butter and hearts across the world.
