    Teddy is so cute! Did you ever consider doing a children's cartoon series? I know the book was a success and between your Wife's writing skills, Granddaughter's illustrations and Your dog's voices it would be great! I'd love to have a cartoon series to play and give as gifts. The dog's voices are so precious. My absolute favorite was one of Jamba's early dog show videos (he had a younger voice then) and it was adorable how he described the elevator as a "little room" and when he said "yes! a dog show!" Such sweetness.

      I'm not sure I have the resources or the technical expertise to do animation. However, I appreciate your confidence in our family team.

    Aunt Apple is so good with him. In my limited experience, I've found Cavilers use more patience with puppies than do other breeds.
    Love seeing the different generations.

    I puppy-sit for friend who has a year old Ruby cavalier. I am always afraid of her chocking on a stick. I never see dogs so much as cavaliers! I love your videos. Thanks so much for such a delightful time.

    Good morning Teddy! Harley is still getting up at 3:30 am and again at 6:30 but we are progressing on crate training! It’s such a delight to see your dogs! Harley is going to be 4 months old soon 3/14/24 and I am very grateful for your videos especially seeing that your dogs love chewing twigs too! This breed is so smart and I am looking forward to a long, loving, lifetime with my Cavalier💕🐶Bless you and your family 😊

    Totally Charming! How could a little boy Cav go wrong when he is being loved by his Auntie, Grandma and Great-Grandma? I notice he is sleeping alongside Bootsie now - was he too much for Apple? They certainly help you get an early start to the day... thanks for the videos.

      It took Bootsie a few days to warm up to the fact that there was a new puppy in our home. But before long, they have become fast friends, and the 3 of them go running in the yard all the time.

    Wonderful video! The older dogs teach a puppy so much and your home and yard are so beautifully organized for their needs. Do you allow free access to water with a puppy or do you offer water at specific times? Thank you so much for sharing your darling dogs' day.

    Teddy is so cute and seems to be a fast learner. I just have a question. Once puppies are ready to eat kibble, at what age do you stop feeding them the fresh food with it or is it a good idea to continue this into adulthood? I am new to the fresh idea. Growing up, our dogs just got kibble but that was quite a while ago😊

    • @chaskat35
      @chaskat35  10 місяців тому +2

      If you are using a top quality kibble, it's enough to sustain them well once they are about 5-6 months old. However, it's not a bad idea to let adult dogs have a little bit of a treat with the kibble. Right now, I put a few chunks of the raw food on top of their kibble. I will also occasionally add things like chicken liver, egg, high fiber cereal, unsweetened pumpkin, or fresh vegetables - but just a little bit as a treat.

    Algún consejo para peinar el pelo de las axilas a mi cavalier, no se si tumbarlo o si ponerlo boca arriba o levantarle las patas , no se me da muy bien😘😘

    • @chaskat35
      @chaskat35  10 місяців тому +1

      Encuentro que la mayoría de los perros no se quedan quietos para acicalarlos si están boca arriba. A mí me resulta más fácil tenerlos de pie y levanto la pierna para pasar por debajo.

  • @pambeni5635

    Do you dry them off before putting them in the crate for the night? Having a dog is a full time job, just like a child.😊

    • @chaskat35
      @chaskat35  8 місяців тому

      In weather like this, we keep a couple of towels right next to the door, so we can dry the dogs. That's mainly selfish, because we don't want our furniture and floors to get dripped on.

    Hello! What kind of fresh dog food you used to mix with the kibbles? I also have a Ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy. 19-week old. I am trying to bring up his enthusiasm for food. Right now, he is not very excited when it comes to eating meals. Thank you!

    • @chaskat35
      @chaskat35  10 місяців тому +2

      There are a number of fresh foods available now - the one I find easiest to use is called Fresh Pet. It has an excellent ingredient list, and it comes in a convenient refrigerated roll.

    That little face is simply adorable!! I have a question. Is it normal to keep Cavalier puppies until they're older before finding them their home? When I've gotten a puppy, I always got them at 8 to 10 weeks of age. In rescue, we took in a pregnant mother and we let her puppies go at 8 weeks--they were fully weaned at that age and were ready to settle in at their new home. Was that a mistake?

    • @chaskat35
      @chaskat35  10 місяців тому +4

      The guideline I have always followed - recommended by our breed club's Code of Ethics - is to wait until at least 10 weeks of age. If possible, I like to extend that to 12 weeks. There is so much interaction between mother and puppies during this time, and the pups will learn simple things like how to play, and how to respect other dogs' food and toys. At 8 weeks, the pups are physically able to live separately, but I feel that they will have lost some great learning opportunities.

      @@chaskat35On the other hand, we know that socialization "window" closes around 12 to 16 weeks of age. It is imperative that puppies are properly socialized before this sensitive period passes. We know from a great deal of research that failure to properly socialize puppies during this time period can result in a whole host of behavioral issues--including both reactivity and aggression. I'm sure you socialize your dogs well, but not all breeders are going to be as responsible as you are. I like to ensure that my dogs (when I obtain them as puppies) are properly socialized to set them up for success in the human world. I've taken in dogs that were not properly socialized and they can be a challenge behaviorally, we even kept one that was deemed "unadoptable" and was slated for euthanasia due to her lack of socialization which resulted in extreme fear. Her life was strictly managed. She was happy in her small, little life--she didn't go out for walks (because walks terrified her), she didn't meet strangers (because meeting strange people terrified here and could have resulted in aggression), she stayed in our home and yard and our wonderful vet came to our house to check her (she was so terrified when she went to the vet that her blood pressure was off the charts and her temperature was extremely high--if we took her to the vet for some reason, we had to take her temperature an hour before we left, then an hour and two hours after returning home to ensure it returned to normal; she didn't have a fever because she was ill, she had a fever because she was terrified). Don't get me wrong, we loved this dog and I don't regret taking her in and letting her live her life with us. But there aren't many homes that can and are willing to do that. We really could NOT let anyone that wasn't a veterinary professional interact with her. Should she have been euthanized? Why? She was perfectly happy with us in her home and yard. She just couldn't be around any other people and couldn't leave her home/yard. So I like to socialize my puppies to ensure they are happy, social, little beings that can enjoy the human world.

      Good points. We believe in starting socialization at about 7 weeks of age.

    • @chaskat35
      @chaskat35  10 місяців тому +1

      There might be a picky eater out there, but my experience has been that pretty much every Cavalier has a phenomenal appetite. That's why we have to be careful to measure and monitor their food, so that they don't become overweight and put stress on the heart.
