  • My apologies for the quality of the audio in various parts of the video. Apparently I had my hand over the camera microphone, and every now and then the audio is a little hard to hear. I wish I could do this over, but since the mechanism is now in the cabinet, it would be pretty hard to get a good video.
Also, more apologies for the camera movement! It's REALLY hard to take this video on my own, and this is the best "take" out of quite a few of them.
Video showing how to make tonearm adjustments on Rockola 1452 jukeboxes. This procedure will most likely apply to other Rockola models (such as a 1448), but I don't have a complete list of similar mechanisms, so use the information seen here accordingly.
NOTE: This video is to be used for REFERENCE PURPOSES ONLY! ALWAYS CONSULT YOUR INSTALLATION & OPERATIONS MANUAL FOR OFFICIAL PROCEDURES! This video is not meant to replace that source of information in any way, and I accept no responsibility for damages (or stupidity!) caused by others.
This video is cross-linked to my 1452 Restoration Blog: jimsrock-ola14...

    Hi, Great Looking Machine.
I have just purchased one for my mancave and am getting used to it. I am now selling my Wurlitzer CD in favor of the Vinyl. I have done some initial work on it and noticed that the speed of the turntable is sometimes slow, also the tone arm skips backwards like there is a scratch, but seems to do it in the same place on different records. Any suggestions welcome

NICE JOB BUDDY. ARE THE PRIOR VIDEOS STILL ON THE INTERNET? IF THERE NOT HOW DO I GET A COPY. YOU DO A NICE JOB EXPLAINING THE PROCESS.

      Dan,
Thank you for the nice comment!
Yes, all of my videos are here on UA-cam, and since there's no way to "order" them and make them play one-after-the-other, the only way I know how to find them is to click on my name, and then select the "Videos" tab. All of my Rockola 1452 videos should now be visible.
I have a 1448 that I hope to begin restoring this summer (2020), and I hope to make similar videos during that restoration, but find and utilize some sort of video editing software to make them more "professional" in appearance.

Hello Jim, that's the cleanest mech I've ever seen! Is there any lubricant on the gripper arm assembly? And wow, that chrome really shines bright! Tony

Thanks, Tony! This 1452 is the one that I spent "stupid money" on (I think I told you the story), and everything got either re-plated, re-painted, or re-chromed on it. Other than the chrome on the tonearm and platter, it's original as I could make it. And yes, there's lube in the gripper mech, but it's not the "approved" stuff called-out by our mutual email friends. Rather, I used "Petrol-Gel", a clear (label says white) food grade lubricant that has no odor. I put it in both of my 1448's as well (both projects on Hold until my hand heals), but recall that these are "MY" machines. Don't think I would recommend it for one of your customer's machines, as the maintenance is out of your control.
(And, yes, I typed this with only one hand.)

      Josh,
That depends on where you are located, as jukebox techs are becoming hard to find. Google search would be my first suggestion. Email me if you come up blank.

great info but man! CALM DOWN BRO! you're slamming your words together and partially stuttering which got very annoying but i wish that were the only thing..but then you begin to overly repeat yourself with the word slamming and stuttering which frankly got kind of annoying. Great info but you HAVE to slow down a bit, were you nervous?
