Those wheels look great! I have a tip for your speaker magnet tip: Wrap the magnet in cling-film (or put it in a plastic bag), then you can just peel it off with all the shavings ;-) Saves you hours unpicking the things.
looks great. makes me want to upgrade to modern wheels. noticed the center console brace H bracket is missing. it's a structural part tying in the scuttle to the frame. will also make installing two gauges nice. cheers.
Wheels look great in your 1500, although I went in another direction with wheels on my MK lll. Removed the not so good looking alu wheels, and installed steel rims size 5 1/2 " painted white like they came from new. BTW. Where is your Centre Console?
Enjoying your excellent videos. Just acquired a mk4 spit. Much bodywork to sort! There's a surprise......Daft question, what camera are you using for these videos? Cheers, steve
Big improvement looks like. Would be good to know how you got on over the months with the larger wheels. I’ve been thinking of something similar, perhaps the minilite alloy wheels. Is there any concerns needed regarding the brake system and stopping etc with larger diameter wheels ? But then would it matter if your tyre profile is smaller so 15 / 50 tyer and wheel or 13 / 80 it would be about the same size over all wouldn’t it ? Just better looking less tyer wall to look at
They are MGF 15". I *think* they are 185/45's. No issues with rubbing but i wouldn't go any bigger. Some people put travel stops on their steering rack as the Spit has a lot of steering travel

Good idea!
I've always liked the original wheels but I have to admit, those alloys look pretty damn good and really change the look of the car. 👏

Good on you. The wheels look great. I like silver, but that's just my opinion.

Next video :)
Are the holes in the steel wheels large enough to clear the new studs? Might want to check before you get a flat and have to install the spare.
Forgot to check! Im pretty sure they are though as the wheel sits on the shoulder of the bolt, rather than the thread.
What is the difference in the tire hight? I like the look just starting on a 1978 garaged for the last 35 years.
Off the top of my head the larger rim but lower profile tyre means it's more or less the same

Thanks Steve. I'm using an old Panasonic HD cam. Because Im too cheap to buy a gopro or DSLR! Good luck with the [endless] bodywork :)

Been driving on these wheels for 18 months or so now. No problems whatsoever. In fact I'd say it''s a nicer drive with larger (heavier) wheels
@@BritSpit ahh ok cool 😎 thanks
What size are the alloy wheel tyres? Any issues with rubbing etc?
