In this video, you will learn how to create the PERFECT finish schedule. This is how I like to set up a finish schedule, this is by no means the only way of creating and organizing a finish schedule.

Nice to see the scheduling method I created for my office practically matches yours!
One "workaround" I use for the system families that the schedule won't _see_ in the project (mullions, railings, etc) is to make a Design Option Set "Materials" with options "Hide (default)" and "Show". Then I have a generic model family that is just a cube with instance material parameter. Place as many as you need in the "Show" option (I recommend grouped somewhere outside the building so they're easy to find in 3D) then when you select your schedule in the project browser, you'll see a "Visibility/Graphics Overrides" property where you can change Design Option from Automatic to Show.
I also find this useful for setting up materials before everything is modelled for interior designers to start filling information, and creating materials for items that I'm not going to model (sometimes weird items from an interior designer DWG underlay that I'm not going to model or things that I don't want to necessarily model such as window coverings...)
I love the generic model cube in an design option! I have had to do that a lot for those system families. I like the way you work!

One other hint for more efficient workflow is to make another "working/not for sheets" schedule that has all the extra parameters used for filtering/grouping so it's quicker to enter instead of going through the materials window.
This can be handy for internal cost estimating (add count/qty and price), and QC instead of messing with the production schedule.
Yes this is nice in that you could organize the views based on if it’s working or not. I always like to have those and monitor all the views.

I watched your project parameters video but it didn't cover the material perameters. Do I have select all of the categories ie... doors, walls, ceilings, casework, etc... ?
Hi. Does this finish schedule only work if the materials are in use in the model? Hope this question makes sense. (For example, I did not model a base, but in Manage > Materials, I created a material for base, would that base material show up in the finish schedule?)
Great Video... The Mark has value filter is totally clutch it was the answer I did not know I was looking for! One answer I am looking for is If you have three Kitchen Families of Families could you make it change details on a details sheet to match the appropriate kitchen family? We have very specific details that match different kitchen design it would be nice to make the details change themselves out when you change the kitchen family.
That is a bit more difficult given that based on a different family being used, a different view would be used. I would look into global parameters. They could be used to change details globally. This can be based on different models or families being used.
where did you get the material fields from? there are none in the list when I start a new schedule? thanks.
Thanks so much for making this video! I created my schedule based on your instruction however my schedule is picking up every time a specific material is used when I enter it into a wall structure. Any Idea on how I can apply my material to everything and have it only populate onto my schedule once like how you've shown. Maybe I missed something. Any help is appreciated

I thought you meant a room finish schedule, like that showed walls, ceiling, floor etc, but this is good too. I have not had the need to make this kind of schedule, but seems like a solid workflow.
I use this kind of finish schedule for all my projects as it’s important I’m able to track all the materials. What were you hoping this was exactly?
@@ArchitectureVanguard I guess by the title, i thought it was a room finish schedule, that showed the finish for the ceiling, floor walls, at different rooms in a project. I have had to work on those, they were never really that helpful in my opinion, but its something that was asked of me before. I have also see the finish schedule I am referring to done by room walls, so it would have north, south, east, and west. I guess that was done in lieu of a finish plan
I see what you’re saying. Most of the time I have used the finish schedule in this video to highlight all materials. Then on finish plans I have finish tags for each room that layout the wall, floor, and ceiling finish.
@@JavierOropeza08 I use a Key Schedule for room finishes. The schedule created in the video seems more like an "overall materials used in this project" type of schedule.
