You Need a Magnetic Drain Plug

- All engines wear, and as they do, small amounts of debris are added to the engine oil. Most of this is collected by the filter, but a good way to add some security is adding a magnet to your oil pan. Many cars have these from the factory, but because you don’t often drop your oil pan, a good way to keep an eye on what is in your oil is a magnetic drain plug. They are incredibly cheap and allow you to see if the metal flakes in your engine are extremely small as they’re meant to be or if they’re larger indicating a problem. Usually, if the plug is specifically listed for your car, it will be over-priced, but if you search for the thread pitch of your drain hole, you’ll be able to find one for a fraction of the price. Install is a simple as using the new plug instead of the old one at your next oil change. Simply inspect it at every oil change by wiping it on a paper towel. For $10, it’s cheap insurance.

I know a ton of VQ owners broke their Z1 magnetic drain plugs, now they don't even have them on the site any more. Think I may need to look into this though.
Yeah I've got a junky eBay one in the Z, but I'll get a nicer one when I eventually rebuild the engine
Oh wow, I think I dodged that bullet, I'll have to change it out on my next oil change! Thanks for the heads up.
Awesome explanation Man. 🙂
I ended up getting one of the Nismo ones for my DE and build quality is as expected good. (Maybe a touch too expensive for some but worth it especially when on sale) 👍
Definitely cheaper than the alternative ha
engine plug is easy to find, where to get magenetic vq transmission plug? thx
As long as you know the thread pitch of the plug, you can find a magnetic option.
