+The Silver Rook Uriel was a dick, Cas wasn't. And as we all know, Uriel had his own agenda; not even Cas knew that. And even in the Bible angels were scary - the first thing they said when meeting humans was 'do not fear'.
I like to think that angels and archangels were perfect in the beginning, though after so many centuries of watching humanity and mingling among them that purity began to fade. Turning them all into a bunch of jerks who refuse to help at all.
Michael same because they have to deal with all of this corruption for centuries. Even the most righteous can fall and be corrupted even if they are celestial.
@@bossmugga1 they don't have morals or feelings they do what they think is good for most of humanity, in this case, kill thousand of peoples to stop Lucifer rise and star apocalypse

Castiel did went through a character development arc, but it ruined his character and I hate him now. Season 4 Castiel was arguably one of the most badass characters to be introduced. Hell, angels were beings to be reckoned with when they were introduced. In one episode, Castiel mentioned that not many of them appear unless it's something urgent like the Apocalypse, which is why you don't see them around. Now, in later seasons, you see them appear on-screen than you do the main characters, lmao.
I love that staredown between Dean and Cas at 3:00, Castiel has seen him in hell, he knows intimately how terrified he is, and Dean knows it, is ashamed, embarrassed and relieved that Castiel lets him continue to hide his pain and Castiel is seeing that pain and wondering why Dean, like all humans, chooses again and again, to bear it.
Jacob Price Wow, I love this comment - I was watching their eyes in that point and I could totally see everything you said playing out in those couple seconds!
OKAY BUT LOOK. WHEN CAS CALLED SAM THE BOY WITH THE DEMON BLOOD, SAM'S HEART VISIBLY BROKE. BUT WHAT WE DONT NOTICE IS THAT CAS DIDNT WANT TO BE MEAN OR HURT SAM'S FEELINGS. HE KNEW SAM AS JUST WHAT HE WAS TOLD. HE DIDNT THINK IT WOULD BE HURTFUL TO SAM. BUT FOR SAM, HE DREAMED ABOUT ANGELS HIS WHOLE LIFE. AND THE FIRST TIME HE MEETS ONE, HE WAS KNOWN AS THE BOY WITH THE DEMON BLOOD. AND THAT PROBABLY HURT SAM A LOT MORE THAN CAS EVER INTENDED.
When Castiel asked to Dean "When your father gave you an order, didn't you obey?", I wish Dean had answered something like "My father never ordered me to kill innocent people". I'm sure Castiel would have been speechless.
Sure innocent. Liars, thieves. Adulterers. Murderers rapist rude Blastfamy haters who work all the days and never take the time to rest Stressed suicidal angry unforgiving. So innocentz
ah back in the day when Cas was a bad ass.. when I watch season 4 know I'm laughing almost everytime when Cas shows up and says something super dominant :D
I don't. Castiel has come a long way, but he's so much better now. He's more human, he feels, he's been through so much, has lived so many things and his character's evolution was meant to be. I wouldn't have it any other way.
I understand that. For the sake of the plot they made the angels less powerful, and there was no proper reason for them to do that. It sucks. Castiel is "weaker" in a way, but there's an explanation for it. The other angels should still be as powerful. And I get what you're saying, I miss how powerful angels used to be. Cas isn't really an angel anymore, he's not allowed into Heaven, he's not human either, he's stuck in the middle. He feels when most angels don't. But they shouldn't have changed. I wish the writers kept the plot more consistent. Don't get me wrong, I love the show too, but there are so many plotholes, and things that are conveniently not mentioned anymore or forgotten.
Uriel: "This isn´t the first time I... Purified a City." I don´t know if you got that but i think he just hinted he was responsible for the smiting of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Thatslifebro it depends, Sodom and Gomorrah seems to be the reference their making but if you read through all the Bible many cities or town including Jerusalem were "purified" plus this seems to be more of a reference to Uriel himself. Because Supernatural leans the most on Roman Catholic doctrine when it comes to anything Judaeo-Christian there comes some of the baggage such as in Revelations Uriel is said to be the Angel that will bring the flaming sword of the lord upon the earth. And essentially Roman Catholic doctrine builds Uriel as the angel of death which is why when Cas introduces Uriel he says to Sam and Dean "Uriel he's a...a specialist"
It could also mean when an angel killed the first born of Egypt, or as it seems here as sodom and gomorrah, but could also mean that it was him in both cases.
It's funny, when you've watched the entire series so far and come back to rewatch season 4, you never realized how truly emotionless and distant Cas speaks vs currently. XD
Ya,the angels in general became more humanized and less dogmatic the longer they were on Earth.Killing Naomi was the one good thing Metatron ever did even though it was for totally the wrong reasons.
This might sound weird, but I love Cas's reaction to meeting Sam. I'm sure, what with all the talk surrounding the demon blood situation, he was expecting another reaction. He wasn't expecting to find such a pure heart in Sam and it took him back a little. I'm absolutely certain that he felt pity for Sam, but Cas being Cas didn't know how to convey it. An angel of the Lord, taken back by a boy of faith with a so called "impurity." That's really something.
it makes me sad when Sam, who has always believed and had faith in the existence of angels and God, gets really happy and excited when he finally meets one, only for the angel to mention the whole demon blood thing,,, you can see the excited puppy look leave his face immediately :'(
Castiel: We have no choice. Dean: Of course you have a choice! What, you never questioned a crap order? Huh? Oh man, this killed me 'cause Cas is the complete opposite now :') He's part of Team Free Will. He makes choices, deliberately subverts orders that may cause Dean and Sam harm, takes care of them, and has become as human as Dean. Cas can feel, sense, and use emotion to interact with his surroundings. He's an adopted Winchester, and he uses his angelic divinity to help others. Cas is still the most terrifying warrior angel you can ever meet, but that's the thing - he's BETTER. The angel he is now surpasses the angel he was before. Cas is literally "the Angel of Humanity." He's fallen in love with humanity (Dean). He wants to protect humanity. All of this makes Castiel the 'Angel who fell for Humanity'. That's why he's a legend in Heaven/Hell/the supernatural world just like the Winchesters are legends. #CASTIELFEELS
Mist Ballman agree with you among other supernatural characters cas and not forgetting crowley has the best character development through the whole season of supernatural which is AWESOME
I love how Lucy used to be villain number 1 and everyone was afraid of him destroying the whole world and now he's just walking around and nobody cares about him Like... he was in the bunker once, he's even helping Winchesters occasionally
It's fantastic to look back on this with hindsight and see that, even this early, Cas knew how to tug Dean's strings. The orders weren't to wipe the town; the orders were to do what Dean instructed. And we know from the end scene that Cas didn't *want* to wipe the town. Most of the argument against wiping the town is coming from Sam (and, of course, the angels aren't going to listen to him), but what finally gets Dean moving? Cas needles him about John. He knows exactly how to push Dean the way he wants without it being an outright (at this point) rebellion against his instructions.
OKAY BUT I JUST REALIZED THAT AT 4:36 Dean says "It sounds to me like you're compensating for something" looking back it looks like that was exactly what Uriel was doing Since he actually wanted for the fight to go down and for more seals to be broken to get there
3:03-3:09 You can see Dean's facade failing here. He's trying so hard to think of some snarky comment and throw it all right back in Castiel's face, but he can't think of anything. It's truly captivating to watch. Jensen is such a talented actor.
