Typically, your mission leaders give you service activity options, and then you can choose from those which ones you want to do. You can also find service activities you want to do and then ask your mission leaders if those service activities are acceptable.
A very informative video, but I have a few questions that weren't answered. Firstly what can you do to prepare to serve a service mission before you turn in your mission papers? Secondly, I am from England is a service mission available in my country? And finally I currently do volunteer work at a charity shop, could I continue this during a service mission?
Hey thanks for reaching out. So looking at the church website, yes service missions are available in the United Kingdom and Ireland as of this year! (news-uk.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/service-missionaries-a-pattern-of-successful-service) In order to start the process of filling out mission papers you would need to talk to your local Bishop and Stake president. However one does not simply choose a service mission, either that is what the prophet called you to do or it is offered because a proselyting mission is not possible. (www.churchofjesuschrist.org/service-missionary/service-missionary-candidate?lang=eng) Preparing for a service mission would be the same as preparing to serve a proselyting mission. Read your scriptures, try to commit yourself to following Jesus Christ's example, and loving others. That is awesome that you are already serving in your community! If you end up doing a service mission, choosing your service activities is really up to you and your bishop. Anything where you feel comfortable and feel you can be a good example of Jesus Christ and serving how he would serve.
Are you able to be in collage and be a service missionary I have some obstacles preventing me from going on a teaching mission but would love to serve a service mission (ill be attending byui in the summer and fall )so was wondering if I'd still be able to
I’m a service missionary, service missionaries can’t go to college during their missions. It’s like a regular missionaries so we can’t go to college. Hope that helps 😊
Thank you so much for this!!!

I hope that was helpful. Wishing you the best of luck!
Do service missions have to stay home???
I have a question, what about if you’re in a relationship with someone, and you’d want to do a service mission with them, what are the rules on that?
Yes. Your not allowed to live with any male. It’s part of the law of chasity. Your only only allowed when your married to live with your spouses.
is it just as long as a teaching mission?
Yes :)
