Hi Everyone! I have recently started making videos again, feel free to stick around; subscribe and help me grow this channel! Couple things about this video: 1. If you didn't see the date, this was posted over 4 years ago. Engineers and class 4 weapons (except the PA) didn't exist, hence the weapon build. 2. Iridium Wing also didn't exist yet, so there was no established protection for Rats. 3. Griefers don't deserve a fair fight, as they don't give them. This wasn't about honor; it was about retribution. Fly safe, commanders! o7
@@Sinnbad21 I won't disclose specifics as this video also attracts people looking to go after Rats, but the easiest way is they take advantage of the good nature of these players; deceiving them into thinking the griefer needs help.
You see a lone ASP Explorer outside of the inhabited bubble. No weapons, low shields, lightweight internals. An easy kill you think as you power on your interdictor and rip him out of super cruise. He tries to reason with you, but you already have full power on weapons.... The power plant on his ship detonates after only half a second of fighting, he didn't even try to jump away. And in the end, only a 5,000 credit bounty on your name. What easy pickings for such a mighty scoundrel. You jump systems and decide to fuel scoop, content with returning to the bubble, but something's wrong as a bang hits your ship and the tables turn, ripping you out of super cruise. Your ship spins out of control as you see your attackers approach you... It's a wing of Fer De Lances, and they have over a dozen multicannons trained on your ship. A chilled twitch runs down your spine... "DerryBear sends his regards."
Andrew Curtin yes, but the way it’s written into the text just sounds epic. A wing of fer-de-lances can make you shit through your pants and still manage to get it into the toilet.
NotoriousStormtrooper I mean they shouldn't need protection. It's one thing to pirate but to do it to a group of kind people is just shitty. Would they know you were a fuel rat anyway?

Agreed, great comment. While helping a friend earn some money bounty hunting in my Vulture he got into trouble with a wing of 3 Eagles. I ran to his aide only to have all 3 Eagles on me while I ran like hell. Got me to 4% hull and I had to reboot my systems 3 times before I could jump into supercruise and limp away. After 5 minutes of that my heart rate had actually jumped a good 30 points and I was sweating. Most fun and exciting 5 minutes of gameplay I've had in the 200+ hours I've played.

It's bad to shoot non-combatants who are only acting in a support role. Fuel Rats are an emergency rescue organisation that provide aid to all players. They are very valuable to explorers. What you're arguing for in your ignorance is for you to be able to shoot Fuel Rats and no one to come after you for it. If you weren't arguing for that, you would not have started complaining in the first place. Because the end result of everyone "playing how they want" is exactly the system we have now where someone breaks a rule set by the community and the community punishes them for it. You failing to realize any of this, is why they say you're a joke. If you don't know what the problem is by now after this lengthy explanation then I don't know what to tell you.
Same man! I’ve only ever seen vids of Elite Dangerous and I know that Fuel Rats are lifesavers! You don’t bite the hand that feeds you. Or in this case, blow up the people refueling you. Hell, maybe if I start playing i’ll look into figuring out how to become a fuel rat
That guy had to be a noob ganker. He had his crimes on. Just running with your crimes on when you shoot at other players will get you targeted for execution. Too funny. He didn't want nothing to do with those angry multicannons LOL
This makes me happy.. a fuel rat saved my life once.. I was new to the game and I was about 50 jumps from the bubble I didn't know that not every sun could give me fuel.. and this guy came out and he saved me.. I was down to my final minutes of life support when he got to me.
Yesterday they saved me on my way to buy a dbx. My systems were fried and I was 2 jumps away from my destination. I had gone trough several unexplored systems all with that purple star thing. Made a lot of money from navigation data.
As this was NOT sanctioned by the Rats, but a personal vendetta, let me personally thank you! I was the Fuel Rat being harassed (Drk Angel), and even beat him up until he ran off. Then my game glitched and I couldn't fight back when he kept coming back after me (and then started bad-mouthing the Fuel Rats). Good hunting, Commander!
This game is pretty legit. Lots of douchebags but also lots of amazing players as well. I've trolled and griefed many multiplayer online games before but mad respect to the fuel rats. Never been rescued by them but to see the lengths that they go to rescue people (hours worth of real time to find and rescue someone) - they always have a friend in me. Will always help them out by whatever means necessarily which includes hunting fuel rat killers.
This guy that attacked derry, i seen him once ingame and he attacked me left me with damaged cobra three months ago. Said “girls are better off serving as housewife.” I wasnt armed either. I was a newbie at that time. And here i am.. in a big liner ship equipped with fuel, limpets and more. Not official fuel rats but ill still help out everyone.
Here’s funny thing is.. since the attack, i have fell into favor with right players and i got massive influx of credits, i invested into my ships i purchased to help others. This includes my liner ship equipped with fuel rescues stuff.
I've seen him as well. it's just a game, but for that "housewife" comment I'll be sure to brrrp some MC love his way the next time I run into him. what a boorish thing to say. o7
@@RealCassandraSaturn find him and scare the shit outta him. Maybe have some of the fuel rats or maybe their friends to assist you. Oh the look on his face when he’s interdicted and then out of nowhere, a gigantic liner armed to the teeth with multi cannons along with a few cobras and he’ll shit himself
this is a very new comment, but just saw it as a UA-cam recommendation. I can't imagine how extremely valuable the Fuel Rats are. It doesn't take a genius to just admire their work. I met with 2 Fuel Rats that helped me, while I was carrying more than 50 Million worth of cargo.... Tbh, I never really worried about being "robbed" and was genuinely trusting them as they refuelled me. Even better, they were the very first people to meet in my very first Open Play (Was in Solo, but Open is needed for obvious reasons). They treated me like I'm special, and stayed with me for a while... It was a great feeling and a great honor to have met those guys!
I specifically started playing this game just to be a fuel rat. So to see that there’s people who will go out of their way just to put someone in their place for killing a fuel rat warms my heart
"Ladies and gentlemen, we got em" After seeing so much love for and from the fuel rats, i honestly wanna become one, because i am not good at combat. I haven't got the patience for true exploration, especially for fear of running out of fuel. Im meh at trading. I thought maybe i would give being kind to other players a chance.
I'm looking at part-time ratting, don't know the full rules but I have an exploration rig with fuel limpets and light armaments. Was hoping to get in on Canonn research group but don't know how active they are these days.
I’m very new to Elite Dangerous, but I already know I’m going to sink a lot of hours into it. Yesterday was my first time using a Fuel Rat, I can say they are truly hero’s of the game. Knowing people kill them makes me sick, but knowing there are people like you who kill those scumbags gives me hope for the community!
killing a fuel rat is about the lowest thing you can do in Elite. But honestly, I wish that the fuel rats could use some kind of tag, so they would be less likely to be taken down by a random commander.
Fuel Rats are fuckin awesome. When I was somewhat new to the game I went pretty far out and couldn't find a station anywhere, and stupid me didn't know what a fuel scoop was at the time so I was stuck in the middle of space with a few stars that were ages away. Then I decided to look around on the internet for some sort of help because I've heard these guys before. I was losing oxygen at a rapid rate, I was pretty close to death actually. Until the Fuel Rats got in touch, commed me, then boom, warped into my area at the last second. They gave me a few tips as well as to make sure I get a Fuel Scoop. Really lovely people.
I absolutely love that there was absolutely no hesitation between successful interdiction and the volley of cannon fire. Brutal!!! Serves him right. Long live fuelies!!!!!
I don't play this game, but I've heard all about the Fuel Rats and the amazing things they've done for the game. Glad to see Gessjoker paid for his crimes.
i dont know if you rember me but im cmdr mathais thulmann ya saved me in my anconda when i ran out of fuel and some one showed up to kill the rats and almost took me down thx again for that save
I did a bunch of research into the Fuel Rats and to see this video is so so IMPRESSIVE! If you don’t know much about the Fuel Rats in ED, I very highly encourage you to research them and take a closer look into what an incredible group of people these guys and gals are. I’m new to this game, but when I get better at it, one of my main goals is to join the Fuel Rats and hopefully they will have me. What an awesome bunch they are 🤩🤩🤩😎👏👏👏👏👏
I'm new to Elite Dangerous Ran out of fuel in my Cobra MKIII was referred to the FuelRats Took less than 5mins for them to be dispatched to me and rescue me This bounty of a FuelRat killer was worth it!! Well played DrunkRenegade o7
I first heard about the Fuel Rats when my friend helped me and my 50+ jumps by passing fuel to me. I was stuck in a bad system that offered little to no upgrades and I needed a fuel scoop. It saddens me that there are people out there willing to hunt them down like that. Seeing that satisfying explosion put a smile on my face.
With my ship build (Eagle with twin Multi cannons and a burst laser designed for planetary bounty hunting) I probably wouldn't make a good fuel rat... An escort on the other hand...
The Eagle is a good ship to zip around and piss off larger attackers, but on its own you won't do much. Most fuel rats fly ASP Explorers, however, as the ship has loads of internals for limpet storage and shields. Not to mention the second best jump range in the game to help get across vast swaths of space with ease.
Nice work! I remember once needing their help. nearby was another player, also getting refilled. After the Rat refuelled him, that idiots started attacking him. I was able to give the guy another target until the fuel-rat was gone, then I tailed out.
As a fuel rat, I've been interdicted by wings of pirates before and usually just letting them know I'm a rat on a rescue is enough for them to let me go but every now and then you get that one guy who's happy to break the unwritten rule. As a rat I can't condone the violence as an elite dangerous player GREAT JOB!
Fuel Rat killers are basically people who call 911 responders to their house, only to gun them down the second they get to the door. Good shit Commander, lets hope he got sent back to the detention ship without rebuy. o7
To be perfectly honest, if I know the mentality of some ED players, then the EXISTENCE of such a group could likely cause an INCREASE of Fuel Rat killers... As it is, I think Fuel Rats are rarely the targets of attacks, I think.
Good work sir - fuelrat-killer-hunting is a noble cause, something I'd like to assist in, is there a list of these low lifes we can use as a worksheet?
I used to do ratting back in the day, it is this exact reason why (despite the fuel rats recommendation) I always made sure my drives, shields, and weapons were top of the line on my ratting ship a few scumbags got quite the surprise when they attacked me and we're faced with multiple beam lasers and a vessel that was more shields than ship
I've been in guilds that served the same function as the Fuel Rats in other games, and I aspire to become a Fuel Rat once I've gotten a bit more adjusted to the game and have the cash, gear, and piloting skills to do it justice, and all I have to say about this is "Don't start nothing, won't be nothing." Knowingly and willingly attack someone who's devoted their playtime to helping others, you deserve every little bit of retribution karma throws at you. Thanks for serving as the long arm of justice, Commander. Also...it's goddamned beautiful that the minute you yanked him out of low wake he had an entire armory worth of ammunition dumping into his shields, he had to have left a puddle in his pilot's seat with the amount of ordinance you two were throwing at him. ALL THE DAMNED DAKKA!

If you don't know what the problem is by now after this lengthy explanation then I don't know what to tell you.
lol I'm pretty sure people hunt down normal pirates too. I just don't see the point in killing a fuel rat. What're you gonna do, loot their limpets?
I've never played this game and even I know you don't f*** with the fuel rats
@l l lol
When there's volunteers out there doing good, you either help or you stay outta their way. Rat killers deserve to be hunted.
I think we can agree that bounty was worth taking down a Rat killer. Hope he had to get a loaner Sidewinder.
hahaha me too
That guy had to be a noob ganker. He had his crimes on. Just running with your crimes on when you shoot at other players will get you targeted for execution. Too funny. He didn't want nothing to do with those angry multicannons LOL

Wow, that is a wholesome story 😃
Quintuple multicannons. That's one hell of a way to light someone up.
And rapid fire modded. Pure pain inducing...

Fuel Rats saved me when i was in the darkest part of unexplored space. That douche that took out derry bear can suck space dust :D
What does that taste like?
If you sucking space dust then you venting atmosphere and your frozen ass is dead
Jesus christ, there are people who BAD MOUTH the Rats? This world is just full of surprises ain't it?
There are quite a number of player role playing as terrorists.
TehFocus Terrorists often fight with a cause, however wrong it may be though. This ain't "roleplaying" as terrorist, this is just bad human behavior
Eh... it's still just a game. You could always play single if you didn't want to be at risk of being intercepted by other players.
Supercyzer fuel rats our job is to assist players in open play solo would be pointless
"Fuel rats need a national army!"
"Everyone is our army"
Fancy seeing you here! Keep up the good work. Looking forward to whatever you put out next
I deployed my beams while being repaired by a fuel rat.
I healed the crap out of his shields after he accidently bumped me.
My definitions of "bullet hell" were updated
Haha, as a fuel rat I cannot agree with what he did but as an ED player this makes my heart happy
Ryan Webster how many people have you saved
That's some true Rat spirit right there
Fuel rats deal with code reds
This guy's got a code brown on his hands
Killing a Fuel Rat is like an equivalent to killing a Helicopter that has the Red Cross symbol.
I always love a good comeback story!
I've seen him as well. it's just a game, but for that "housewife" comment I'll be sure to brrrp some MC love his way the next time I run into him. what a boorish thing to say. o7
What a idiot.
"Dont kill a fuel rat is an unspoken rule". No, it's a very spoken rule, ask literally anyone and they will tell you its a bad idea
this is a very new comment, but just saw it as a UA-cam recommendation.
#MIaSMa# Did you stick around for the debrief so they could yell at you about using your fuel scoop? ;D XD
@@sultanofsauce9816 ironically yes I did. Im a different guy but i got the debriefing. Always made sure my ships have a scoop ever since
The fuelrats need a security branch.
Seems like one isn't needed
If it’s risky we sometimes get an escort but that’s only if we have proof a known pvper is nearby
We could call them "The FuneralRats."
or the Rat Bastards!
Oh boi, funeral rats, the official griefer hunters. Working with video evidence, they would hunt space bullies lmao.
I specifically started playing this game just to be a fuel rat. So to see that there’s people who will go out of their way just to put someone in their place for killing a fuel rat warms my heart
"Ladies and gentlemen, we got em"
After seeing so much love for and from the fuel rats, i honestly wanna become one, because i am not good at combat.
If you have patience for exploration than fuel ratting is not for you. You should try it, though!
Never attack the fuel rats what they do is highly honorable and selfless

hang his head on the grill of your FDL as a warning to any other potential rat killers.
I’m very new to Elite Dangerous, but I already know I’m going to sink a lot of hours into it. Yesterday was my first time using a Fuel Rat, I can say they are truly hero’s of the game. Knowing people kill them makes me sick, but knowing there are people like you who kill those scumbags gives me hope for the community!
that dude just faced the consequences of violating the ingame equivalent of the geneva convention
killing a fuel rat is about the lowest thing you can do in Elite.
But honestly, I wish that the fuel rats could use some kind of tag, so they would be less likely to be taken down by a random commander.
Surprised he didn't log
Apparently this guy still possesses a modicum of honor.
You cannot log out when in combat :-) He had no chance!
yes you can you get a warning your in danger but after 30 seconds you can log out
I don't think that whole engagement lasted 30 seconds.
You can also just alt+f4 or kill the process.
I have been saved by a fuel rat and I will gladly take up a fight with anyone that's killing them.
only multicanons XD
It was an experimental PvE build. I was tipped off about him while bounty hunting and was too lazy to refit to fixed + PA. :D

What my build is, 3-2 Multi-Cannons, and 1 Plasma Accelerator.
Much brrrrrt
Turns out, those "emergent gameplay" griefers can't even handle a PVE build coming at them. No wonder the fuckers hunt Fuel Rats.

As a past member of the rats. This made my day. Thank you.
Seeing that satisfying explosion put a smile on my face.
if you dare to attack a fuel rat, expect to get shredded to bits in a crossfire of 6 multicannons
What do you get when you kill a fuel rat? *YOU GET WHAT YOU DESERVE* Also a 5000 credit fine.
As I said, escort
Whatever though, I play solo anyways (Boo all you want I'm not listening).
a free da lace would be better for combat
AlphaOmega While that is true, I highly doubt someone who flies an Eagle will be able to afford the 60 million credit Fer-De-Lance
Yea... I just now got access to a Cobra so...
Good job mate. Glad to know there are people out there protecting them.
That's like attacking an ambulance, you just don't.
Well done, Commander!
Fuel Rat killers are basically people who call 911 responders to their house, only to gun them down the second they get to the door. Good shit Commander, lets hope he got sent back to the detention ship without rebuy.

This feels like one of those ships that was designed for one. specific. purpose.

Wait, I know you...
We should form the battle rats, the defenders of the rats
Aku the shape shifting master of darkness
I'd join that in a heartbeat!
Splinter's Cell(ninja rat who taught the TMNT)
To be perfectly honest, if I know the mentality of some ED players, then the EXISTENCE of such a group could likely cause an INCREASE of Fuel Rat killers... As it is, I think Fuel Rats are rarely the targets of attacks, I think.
one good name i heard proposed was the rat bastards, and I'd join that crew any day if it became a thing
Good work sir - fuelrat-killer-hunting is a noble cause, something I'd like to assist in, is there a list of these low lifes we can use as a worksheet?
Someone needs to make a thread across various E:D forums for this very topic.
Fuel rats always have to watch out for the cats that hunt them, and the cats have to look out for the bigger cats protecting them.

I have never cheered so much in my life, some expert rangling there
I used to do ratting back in the day, it is this exact reason why (despite the fuel rats recommendation) I always made sure my drives, shields, and weapons were top of the line on my ratting ship
a few scumbags got quite the surprise when they attacked me and we're faced with multiple beam lasers and a vessel that was more shields than ship
Rat Killers on forums: "Nobody should be off-limits."
