- Devin (aka Captain Ginger-beard) and myself head down to Cape Point nature reserve for some of the best Yellowtail fishing in south Africa.
In this session we opt to take the boat out for a spin considering the conditions were going to be amazing all day.
Cape Point is one of the most beautiful places in South Africa. Showing off huge mountains cascading down into the ocean and incredible wildlife from land to sea.
We hit the nail on the head, finding schools of feeding game fish. It was GO GO GO as soon as we got to the point, with tail and katonkel smashing bait all over the show. Watch as Devin and myself enjoy what is most certainly one of the best days of fishing in the Western Cape.
This looks exciting and scary at the same time
Hahaha I'll take you next time you visit S.A🤣🎣

Lekker man sheesh! What boat is that looks lekker?
Thanks brother, It's called an Orca🐳 Amazing boat for false bay.🎣
Lekker video guys, Cape point can be such a fun place
Do you guys do vertical/mechanical jigging over there? In NZ most guys will be catching king fish either vertical jigging or livebaiting with only a minority using top water lures/poppers.
Hey Rob, we do vertical jig and slow pitch but this day they were smashing bait right on the surface so we opted for some surface action. Haha I'm sure these yellowtail must look small to someone from NZ but for this side of the coast line these are great sizes 😄 🎣🎬 live bait is a bit of a struggle for us here because the Seals just smash it and you end up fighting them.🙈
Yeh. Without sounding like a complete knob those kings would probably be undersized for NZ @75cm......we are so lucky to get such nice sized ones over here. But by God those seals are bloody massive....wouldn't want one of them trying to climb in my kayak...I bet they could really give you a massive bite.
The yellowtail in Cape town generally average between 3 and 7kg, however you sometimes get a few up to 18kg. Further south towards Struisbaai you find way bigger.
Question for the dummies in joburg, I thought bouts that go out to sea in SA have to have 2 motors?
Great vid
Awesome thanks my brother, I'm also an old Joburger🤣. The rules allow boats with one engine to go out to sea they are just very limited to their distance from the shore. The area we fishing is also classed as a bay, false Bay, so that's allows pretty much anything that floats with the smallest single engines and paddle skies being used. Cape Town has a few of these beautiful bays and public launch sites for small boats all along the coast. Thanks for the support 🤙
