    Dr. Kohli. As an imaging technologist, this single video is one of the main reasons I was able to transition into an information systems career. PACS, VNA, Image Sharing & Informatics. I've decided to give back by providing similar tutorials and high level explanations. Just as you had. Love how you simplified the topic and I hope to do the same. I will be sending my viewers to your channel. Thank you for what you do.

    Enjoyed and learned something important from this excellent video. I feel that, while HL7 v 3.x may be better than HL7 v 2.x for readability of a few data, v 2.x is definitely much better than v 3.x for communication of lots of streaming data, since v 2.x has less text. While XML data format may be great for a few or sparse data, it is generally not good for big data.

      Thanks so much for your comment. The debate about how character-heavy XML is has been going on since I completed my fellowship 15 years ago.

    Are you going to do smthng similar regarding to the IHE profiles/transactions? I mean more detailed than you give in the end of the current video. Some examples how IHE units HL7 and DICOM and how it helps to organize the communication between the HC-actors.

    Hello Marc, I thank you so much for this video because it helps me understand the workflow from the time that a patient check in and what goes on behind the scene until the end. You explained everything in a simplify way and i had nothing else to do but to act like a sponge. Is it ok to contact you if i have any question regarding PACS?

    Marc,
    Thanks for this helpful presentation. I have a question about VR. Is it used to convert speech to text? Or it has another functionality?
    Thanks,

    • @MarcKohli
      @MarcKohli  8 років тому +1

      Thanks for the question, +nasrin20 yes, VR is used to convert speech to text, but it usually has other features - like support for reporting templates, and other small bits of workflow.

    Thanks for this video, What are the steps to follow in a radiology reporting workflow ??

    • @MarcKohli
      @MarcKohli  7 років тому

      Mounir Boussetta - thanks for your question, but I'm not sure that I understand. Are you asking about the search pattern for reading a particular study? Give me an example and we will get things straight.

    • @mounirboussetta
      @mounirboussetta 7 років тому

      Marc, Thanks for your reply, What I'm asking for is : The reporting workflow in radiology must pass through several steps for exampe (I don't know ) step one dictation, step two transcriptio, and so on ..., What are all the steps that a report can pass through ?
      I don't know if my question is clear.

    • @MarcKohli
      @MarcKohli  7 років тому +2

      Mounir Boussetta - that depends a lot on how the dictation is being performed. In the US, mostly it's voice recognition and the particular software provides the workflow. Usually the reader triggers a dictation from the PACS or RIS which sends order information to dictation. People dictate using templates, autopopulated fields, etc and then sign the report. Things get more complex with trainees where there is usually an approval step followed by more editing and signing by the attending.

    What type of degree is required for Informatics?

    • @MarcKohli
      @MarcKohli  9 днів тому

      That depends, there are a number of different levels where one can practice in the informatics space. The majority of folks on the IT side have bachelor's degrees. Some come to imaging informatics from being rad techs (bachelor's or master's). Others (like me) are physicians. So there's a big range.

  • @pelasilveira6690

    Hello Mark. I have a doubt. Do you know if the procedure codes are defined in the modalities, so it Is not necessary to Select, for example "chest" and other options like the patient position. I mean that all of the procedure parameters come with the orm message from the RIS. I ask you this because I don't understand at all how the workflow Is managed when the are performed several procedures with an unique work order like the case of an emergency and a polytraumatism. Sorry of my english, i am not native speaker. Thanks in Advance

    • @MarcKohli
      @MarcKohli  5 років тому

      Usually there's an order for each study, even in the case of polytrauma - where you might get several radiographs of an extremity (hand/wrist/elbow) each has their own order. If you're asking about whether the modality sets the technique (kVp/mA) based on the procedure - I think that varies from modality to modality. Hope this clears things up - if not let me know!

    • @pelasilveira6690
      @pelasilveira6690 5 років тому

      @@MarcKohli ok I understand that i have to send one msg for each procedure. But do you know if some modalities map they
      different Profiles to parameters of the work order?

    • @MarcKohli
      @MarcKohli  5 років тому

      @@pelasilveira6690 Can't give a general reply to this - it's really dependent on each and every modality to implement.
