      i dont think so, momoland had a high take off cause of the very viral song bboom bboom, thats why she even got paid. And momolands case is different, their company was terrible. Only a little of their profit went to their debt. But the usual idol contract is 7 years, so im sure theyll pay it successfully sooner or later. But as she said she was only an idol for 2 years, and momoland wasnt that much of a gigantic group. But im not so sure how long these groiups you named were active, but i figure not so long. So they will for sure take so much more time till they get paid.

    I think its gotten better for idols recently since this stuff has been making more and more news. Seems most newer idols are debt free, and at the same time its still wild how many stories you hear about idols never getting ANY money. I forget who, but I remember and idol talking about she wasnt paid her entire 7 year career, but she didnt think it was a big deal because she got most things free especially her necessities paid for. I feel like this is why when idols are on shows they seem super surprised when they get stuff for free, and are especially happy when they are eating out.
    Its crazy because most of the perception I see a lot of people have is that their favorite idol, or a certain group, is just rolling in mountains of cash, but I think they have it confused because of the few actually successful and rich idol groups, and they are comparing it too much to Western artists. Idols dont normally make nearly as much because their contracts are more similar to an older version of what Western contracts used to be. Plus, you have to account for, when it comes to sales the more members are in a group, the more splits there are, and the more splits there are, the less each member is going to get. Lets say they are working with a simple 70-30 split. Its not like if an album sales for $10, each member of an 6 member group gets $3 out of every album sold. No. That $3 would be divided amongst those 6 members each sale of the album. There are definitely rich idols, and ways of getting richer, but thats also why you see some idols so willing to pack their schedules with variety show appearances because thats a performance fee payment and thats solely for them. I even think it was Sandara who said she got rich off doing sponsors alone and made nothing doing idol activities

      Actors pay up to 10% of their salary to their agency/representation. If you’re doing regular series work making $60k per episode, that’s likely all you have - an agent. If you’re a big-time movie or tv star, *that’s* when you have a team of people. At that point, you’re pulling down millions/season or per movie. A good example is Chris Hemsworth getting $150k for the first Thor as a virtual unknown with an agent, and $20M for the last Thor as an established star with a team.

      That’s it exactly. All the people defending the label because they paid for the “training” but most of the girls come in very capable. Professional artists that hire their own vocal coach for tweaking don’t spend $150k for it and the dance routines are choreography for videos, which should come out of studio development funds for first videos and profits on later videos. These girls work their tails off so some blinged up schmuck can have grins in his Lambo, and the girls come out no better off when they started. They are better off waitressing, assuming Korea allows tipping.

The difference between flipping burger, is obviously you can flip your earnings as an idol or let them pay average wage to sustain the group until the end of contracts because you are not a relevant idol or don't sell lots of music or Lookbook. Meanwhile no matter how much burger flipped, they stuck with same wages.

Only then would she really be making substantial money. I was hoping for Lisa of Blackpink to break free from YG Entertainment. She isn't getting any younger and definitely has the talent to go solo on the world stage. Just my two cents. 🙂🖖

    Gee, I pay a language teacher $32/hr over Skype. How do they get away with $11/hr? No, seriously, my daughters have been making $21/hr or more since they were teenagers doing things like shipping little boxes via FedEx. There's a big Korean community here in Toronto even. You could probably headline at the Korean dance festival here. Sadly, the condos are $700,000 there.

    • @andrew-song
      @andrew-song 2 місяці тому

      I’m assuming the prices you listed are in USD and not CAD, but I would agree that $11/hr is pretty decent, considering the minimum wage where I live (Texas) is the same as the federal, which is $7.25/hr. Not to mention, a part-time job paying $21/hr is pretty unheard of, as most don’t pay above $15 even after a raise or promotion (unless that promotion encompassed a management position, but even still most of those are full-time employment).

    • @jok2000
      @jok2000 2 місяці тому

      @andrew-song This is worthy of a discussion but that never works in a chat. The condo was $CDN but the wage for my daughter's previous ECE job was $21/hr US (converted). The box labeling job is $16/h US converted. This level of summer job pay is not taxed highly in Canada. I of course pay too much tax.

    wow i have a lot of words...
    1. i live in hungary and the salary litereally the half than in korea but as a construction worker i get litereally around 10 usd/hour and work only 8 hours... (yes hungary litereally a cheap country comparing to korea but construction job pay a lot cause need incredible physical attributes and of course knowledge cause i work as a heat insulator and as a mason (and litereally everything lesser stuffs) so yeah that 80usd worth much more here (the minimum wage around 27-30usd) so even that medium translator job not pay that much... :S i am pretty supraised cause i though koreans earn much more :S
    2. let be honest momoland is a pretty small group in sales... even if they was popular in a way but their sales was not that good...
    3. peoples missunderstand her! she not got money over 2 years but litereally she got paid only once in the 2 years... which probably mean 1 month salary which comparing her translator job is 1,3X bigger (translator)
    so she made around 640usd? i am not sure it is the correct because also she had part time job which mean half time at least... (litereally the minimum wage of hungary)
    4. yes she had dept which was 150k usd but again she payed back in that 2 years which mean 6250usd per months but it is again not her salary because companies got the bigger chunck from the income.
    they sold around 110k albums/songs which have around 25usd so it is 2.750.000 usd before tax (of course in 4 years aka 687k per year)
    with 6 members the dept is 900k so yeah even the company not got that much money from them... so they had 1.850.000usd and at least minimum 20% is tax so become 1.480.000usd which is 370k per years... they must to pay the staffs aswell and managers
    of course after the debt they get more and around 10-20% can be the idols money from the income which mean normally should get 954-1909 usd per month... which is between minimum and medium... so she stopped cause had no point because she got litereally minimum-medium and even must to follow the strict rules and practices

Studying a degree in law, science, health, beauty or business will earn you more stable money than these “celebrities” and you’ll get superannuation paid for your future . KPop is a different animal. It’s a production and development pipeline, not a lottery. There are no “trainees” in Western music. But do you know what DOES have trainees? The fast food industry. So clearly, her experience and what she considers alignment makes sense.
