CF, I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’m down here in Louisiana and we are very much shutdown because of the CV. Your videos are something I can look forward to watching. It’s a little thing that keeps me going. Thank you!
Absolutely love the videos bro. My little boy and daughter and I watch each video together. We don't skip the ads so you get full comp on each one. Keep making the videos. You're awesome. Hello from Seattle. Staeppenclean.com
Hey CF! Glad to see you frostbacks are already hard at it 😂Pro tip for snow: Dewalt makes a little 20v blower that works awesome for clearing stuff like light powdery snow and sawdust. Things saved my bacon many times while doing layout by letting me dry off the surface I’m snapping lines on too! Stay frosty!
Oh man.. I wanted so bad to jump in through my screen and give you a hand with them trusses. You managed as always. Good job. I see a lot of space in that attic, that could have been used for more rooms. Oh well, it’s the architects choise. Stay safe. 🍺🧻🍺🍺😷
Ewan Munch Jensen attics aren’t big in western Canada. It makes things far more complicated in regards to engineering and building. The webs of those trusses carry so much weight, that by removing them you could count on each truss being made out of 2x8s if not bigger. On top of that, build times get cut way down by doing blow in insulation in the attic. And I’ve lived in a house that had rooms where the ceiling sloped, and all I can say is fuck that. Lol
Steven Feser I see and understand what you say. Here we build with minimum 2x8’s and use the upper attic space. The sloped area we for some builds turn in to storage space, so there is no sloped area in the living space/rooms. That way the house would have about the same roof hight, but have basement, ground floor and first floor as living space. It would be hard work to build by your own, but hey if you Got machinery to do the heavy lifting why not use the space. 😎
Oh man i find is so much easier putting the valley trusses on after sheeting the roof beneath them! Makes for less walking around through trusses then u can maneuver those on a nice clean osb roof.
This fucking bloke is a legend, want to get him a medal the size of a dustbin lid, can’t wait for the next big house build in the summer months, roll on the summer after lockdown 😆
super great footage again man! you will have a masters degree in editing and film direction when you retire from this and have finished filming building a house by yourself in the wooods. also the footage from in the lift is a great addition to the series. why isnt the gatorade frozen in there!!
@George Friesen Yeah but this crazy framer been running it over a year already, you could hear it in the first season of "building a house alone" i think he has to much holes in his line or he works to hard. lol i believe he just works like a beast that the air never fills.
What's the differences between the USA and Canada on building codes? Could you please explain the differences maybe in one of your videos. My understanding is that here in America we only use 16 oc or 24 oc never seen anyone use that 19.2 oc measurement before. I don't recall ever seeing anyone frame a corner the way you do, (which makes more sense to me). I'm learning a lot from your videos and really enjoy watching . Keep em coming you do amazing work.
These videos are so cool! So 2 questions: How come you start sheeting some of the roof boards from the bottom while others from the top? How come you didn't remove the snow from those things under some of the sheets? Wouldn't that melt and cause some unwanted water there?(5:35 mark) Thanks for any insight on this! Love these vids!
ZygyKoz the sheeting can be installed in any direction accept for some valleys where you need to sheet one section and then the other. He probably just started wherever he thought would be most convenient. As for the snow it will melt and drain out no problem. Almost all products in rough framing are resistant to moisture to one degree or another.
Andrew Kamensky on soffits that don’t run horizontal they soffit material is normally not vented to the exterior to prevent blown rain from entering. Instead this detail allows air from the bottom of the gable end to travel back into the attic and out the ridge vent. This is done to prevent damage to the shingles from the soffit area underneath getting too hot.
Not a carpenter, or house builder for that matter..but was wondering if you could make some type of backpack for your shorter pieces of wood,so you wouldn't have to keep climbing down?
Dude, you need a muffler on that compressor! The droning sound of that compressor running on 5X sounds like a dentist drill! Love the videos, keep up the good work!

Graham Lake agree, but lookings are overrated, imagine all the dead space in that house that could of been destined to useful/confortable space or money savings with a much simpler roof system on the flip side.

@@contractor08831 my favorite was when we were putting an architect designed wood (5/8” tongue & groove bead board) facade on a brick building. The building followed the property lines which were not square to each other, but the architect showed a square clock tower on top of one of the corners as if the corner were 90 degrees not the actual 135. Is it about the legalisation of marijuana? making weird and fancy roof designs that are not usable make no sense at all!?! I don’t think it’s the legal pot. About 30 years ago it seemed like the architects in my area were competing to see how many different roof planes and gables could fit on one house. It would seem that in that profession you need to reinvent the wheel as a young architect so you can get a reputation as a creative genius.
It's too cold for attic space, new houses here don't have any living space up there. You would need way more insulation in the roof because its cold as fuck here in the winter. We also get a lot of snow, so the roof has to be strong enough to uphold the snow load
I enjoy watching you, because it reminds me when I had your energy. Keep hanging in there, watching you inspires many people out here.

I know what that noise is. It's your compressor at the high speed of your camera. Right?
I thought the noise was those dinky little walls straining under the weight of all those gables and trusses.
is that a squirrel at 9:40 ??
Hi crazy I thought roof sheets should have round headed nails.
A lot of places allow staples for sheathing.
The roof valley system with all those gables better make that house look awesome, because all those valleys can eventually cause some problems.
I hope CF is OK, seems unusual to have a break in the videos like this.

I’m surprised they still let you staple your sheets down on the roof. Here in Wisconsin it’s 8 penny nails on all the sheeting
arent staples the stronger fastener?
Thor Eric the head of a nail has more holding than the staple

good job... i still hate facia.. hanging out over it to nail it .. not fun

You shouldn't have to put those cardboard insulation stops in they just get wet
