- This video was originally created for my Instagram followers (@peterquanmusic) to help our violin adult beginner community back in 2022. I’ve received a number of comments from you all to make a vibrato tutorial so this is a perfect opportunity to share my video on UA-cam.
As mentioned in the video I am no expert on vibrato as I am still learning and improving on it. I shared a selection of techniques and exercises I was taught and which I found helpful as an adult beginner.
I hope you will all find something useful in this video!

Found it. Thanks.
Very good. Now see if you can change fingers without stopping the vibrato and change bows without stopping the vibrato. After learning that, you can work on producing a wider variety of widths and speeds.
Thanks, that's definitely something I'm trying to develop!
Thank you for this video😊. Great tips!
You are very welcome Sonja 😄🎻
Nice tips
Thank you 🙂

Thank you for the useful video👍 How long did it take you to learn vibrato?
You are very welcome, glad you found it useful! Thankfully my teacher taught me vibrato very early and she guided me extremely well. It took me a good few months to get an understanding for it, but it is something I'm always improving on 🙂
Incredibly useful, thank you so much ! As an young adult beginner (seft taugthed for now :/), I'm having trouble with the vibrato, i'll try your tips :) A quick question though, when you were starting out and even now, do you prefer wrist, arm or finger vibrato ?
Thank you so much for your comment, I'm glad you found my video useful 😄 I found wrist vibrato most helpful but I try to combine all 3. All the very best with your violin journey, you got this!! 😄
@peterquanmusic Ok I see, thanks :) Thank you so much! The road looks bright when we see your progress :)
how long have you been learning the violin for?
This October will be my 4th year 👍
