Very good. Now see if you can change fingers without stopping the vibrato and change bows without stopping the vibrato. After learning that, you can work on producing a wider variety of widths and speeds.
You are very welcome, glad you found it useful! Thankfully my teacher taught me vibrato very early and she guided me extremely well. It took me a good few months to get an understanding for it, but it is something I'm always improving on 🙂
You've been learning violin for a little over two years and have vibrato like that?! What an inspiration, I've been playing viola since 03' and still struggle. I use wrist as well, but have a question for you - when you use wrist vibrato, you're also using your arm in conjunction, right? Looking forward to binge watching your channel, now!
Thank you for your kind words. My teacher thankfully taught me very early... and I think a little too well 😂 Yes that's right, I mainly use a lot of wrist and I use my arm also depending on how wide I want to go. I'm still learning but I love finding different techniques to help me develop 😄
@@peterquanmusic Your teacher is amazing, and so are you for being able to execute their instructions so well. It shows that you play with awareness, and that really is everything. Are you playing in any community orchestras yet? They'd LOVE to have you!
@@ab-zg8ptThank you so much! Reading your comment has really made my day 🥹 I am in an orchestra indeed! It specialises for adult beginners and i've been playing there for nearly 2 years now. I'm the section leader for second violins and I absolutely love it there 😄🎻 If you have Instagram please follow me @peterquanmusic for more posts☺️
Incredibly useful, thank you so much ! As an young adult beginner (seft taugthed for now :/), I'm having trouble with the vibrato, i'll try your tips :) A quick question though, when you were starting out and even now, do you prefer wrist, arm or finger vibrato ?
Thank you so much for your comment, I'm glad you found my video useful 😄 I found wrist vibrato most helpful but I try to combine all 3. All the very best with your violin journey, you got this!! 😄
Nice tips
Thank you 🙂
