Great video really enjoyed how you covered each ability and made it easy to understand...first video i watched hoped there is more for the other colors
I bought a kamikawa red/black deck back in the day and got some old cards laying about. This video was verry informative. It gives allot of thought food to figure out if you want a mix in a black deck.
Awesome video! I've always enjoyed a playstyle of punishing the board to make myself stronger in other games, and I've been trying to figure that out in MTG. This video helped me get some ideas on what effects i could use to do something like this :)
Thank you so much for these. I’m just getting into MTG and I was looking for something that explained the colors...not specific deck building like most of the other channels
Wait, where are the other videos on the green and white mechanics? I loved your videos! Some of the best I’ve seen. Sad to not see the complete series!
I remember this one Black card which was super expensive to get on the field, however once it was out it was pretty much an instant win. I don't remember its name, or even what it did. All I remember is it featured a beautiful dark evil queen who was a royal witch of some sort. Thought the art was beautiful, and the win mechanic was neat.
@@spookstheghost1253 Thanks for even commenting about it. That looks too colorful, and I remember the art looking like almost entirely monochromatic. Black, white, and dark green tones. That is too bright. I think you're on the right path, though. It was something ridiculous like that. As for Phage the Untouchable: You lose the game if you use a spell or ability to bring it out on the field? So you're forced to use 7 colorless, and 3 black lands to bring it out, no matter what? Yikes.
@@vjm3 Oh wow, I'm not sure. Maybe it was a card that featured Liliana such as Rise from the Dark Realms, although it doesn't quite match your color description. Sheoldred, Whispering One and Avatar of Woe also come to mind, but feel unlikely to be the card you're searching for. Reading your color description reminds me of Sisters of Stone Death, but that card is both green and black.
@@spookstheghost1253 The depiction of Sheoldred looks familiar. I also remember there being the card I described, and a second one that looked like the same woman/witch, BUT she had a different head dress. I can't explain it. It was like they were both evil twin sisters who were the queens of black deck or something. I am pretty sure it was an insta-kill card, as in if you somehow get this card on the field, you have a 90% chance of auto winning the game. Regardless: Sheoldred looks super familiar. Wish I took a picture of the cards when I first saw them.
I love Torrent of hailfire, works great as a finisher in the endgame commander, everybody's low on cards in hand and probably mid on life, if you have the mana to drop an x of 8 or above its a mighty slap to everybody. My groups power level as kinda outpaced this tho ending games before we've got the mana/lack of cards for it to be really usefull. Sad to leave this one behind.
Me and my friend recently got into magic your video greatly helped me. I was wondering if you can do a green video because that is who he chose to play
I go colorless with wubar splash myself. Black Lotus, Moxen, Eldrazi, Blightsteel, Mindslaver, Platinum Angel, Karn, Ugin, ect. Then I splash a playset of Bolt, OG Counterspell, Dark Ritual. I have Ancestral Recall, Time Walk, and Timetwister. I also got Fastbond, Broko, and Jace, The Boogyman. The Idea is to pull out a turn 1 Karn Mycosynth Lattice combo so you never get to play anything and then pummel you to death with Eldrazi I cheat out with mana ramp.
I use black and my favorite card wasn’t in it. If you remake it add quest for the grave lord because its super powerful. But great vid so I learnt alot
In my opinion red is all about the early game and setting up damage or having good broad present. White has really good cards only problem is they are either really expensive to cast or very niche at times its not the best by itself. I feel every color but white can stand on it's own feet...but that said it's very good in supporting other colors! I'm glad I could read your opinion. My opinion is I would rather play mono red than mono white...
The theme behind Black's design is capitalization. It extracts value from as many sectors as it can while depriving resources from its enemies so they can't catch up. That's why it's the color of thoughtseize and reanimate effects. It's the only color that sees a loss for the opponent as a win for you. Black's version of success is to be the richest.
ha discard, my nath deck, has alot of spells that make my oppoenent discard randomly then i play leyline of the void to have the discard be random exile instead. my opponents dont realize how threatening i am at first then theres mindslicer, awaken the erstwhile, and sadistic hypnotist... yeah i love edh
Kill, loose life to draw cards, loose creatures to draw cards, makes opponent discard, have low mana creatures that are ppwerful but they hurt you. Black is fun to play.
One of my favs of black is a card I had that if I had 20 creatures in the graveyard, I win lol.
Which one is that?
@@reynoire9681 If I'm remembering correctly, the card is Mortal Combat. I think it's from the set Torment.
Great vs mill as well

This is one of the best MTG videos. I’m a red player but watching this has caused me to consider Rakdos.

I'm new to magic and find myself drawn to black ⚫ ...amazing job.
are you still drawn to black? I'm new to mtg
Nice video!
Great video and background art
Good video 👍 you answered all my questions
Im going to need you to do green and white now.
Nice vid! Would love to see you make more content :)
I just got into to magic n I'm loving black but can't really make a good deck
Vampire Nighthawk. God, I miss that card in standard! 2/3 for 3 mana with Flying, Deathtouch, Lifelink.
It has a tendancy to steal cards/target certain cards in opponent's decks/hand/grave

In my opinion, black, blue and green are the strongest elements. White is next, then red is the worst.

Red is extremely good at early game aggro.

My sister has been trying to get me to play and said I would like black decks. After watching this I can see why she thinks that.
I might have missed it but I don't think you covered curses at all
So would Languish also destroy creatures you control, as well as opponents creatures?
Yes. But you can just bring your creatures back from the graveyard ;)
You deserve a lot mor subs

Been playing black for 25 years now
You can finish with one life point but your opponent finished dead. Your life is just a black resource.
Subbed strictly for the accent

Black is fun to play.
Someone should really hone in on the more... interesting minor abilities. They're usually in combo decks but they are; Dredge, Delve and Swampwalk
Black has better card draw then green but not blue
People with Southern accents are smart enough to play Magic? Maybe you are from Georgia. Those are the smart ones.
I can't like this video because its at 666 and I need to respect that
😂 yeah...
8:18 your math is off, you would lose only 2 life
