    Having that extension of the thread end has come in handy for me so many times!

    LOL, all this time (years) and I never noticed that little hole. Brilliant! Thank you for pointing that out.

    I also use the empty bags to hold my give-away tatting kits. It is large enough to hold a shuttle and a plastic embroidery floss holder with several yards of thread.

    I would not ever thought of using the thread bags that the thread comes In as a holder! Good idea though.

    Hi! Nancy! Lori is on FB but I don't know how often she checks it...
    In the meantime I'll do a search and see if I can find a copy...

    Thank you Gina. Of ALL the Lizbeth thread I have bought I did NOT know about the hole in the bags...Good to know. You said Lori Dunlap did a pattern write out of a bag. How do I reach her to see if she would share with me?

    Hi. Never knew about the loaded loop. Ty for sharing. I'm hoping to make one of these bags someday. Do you now have a pattern and also do you have a pattern for the magnetic needleminder pls.TIA.

    I am laughing because like Nancy Gilmore, I didn't even know the hole was in the bag either. However, I don't usually keep mine in the bag anyway. I now have a couple of those plastic thread holders which I use all the time, and I feel that the original bag would take up to much space in the container I use for all my threads. Interesting winding technique.

    Hi Gina. How do you make picots with no double stitches between them? Thank you for actually describing what your doing in the vids. I'm not sure I'll ever make a tatted bag but knowing what is happening makes this useful for a blind tatter to learn from. will you be attending the tatting weekend in ny coming up in april? Happy tatting. Tiffany

      ablindgibsongirl Tiffany, I am in Oklahoma - so probably won't ever make it out to NY ; )
      Think of picots as merely a space between double stitches. So, after the first double stitch you start the second with a space between the first and second, then the third, etc. To try this for yourself, it would make a great little flower for a notecard.

    Judi Banashek wrote a book called "Modern Mignonette". She taught me to make the bags : D I have one pattern that written out by Lori Dunlap as she "dissected" one of my larger bags. You are welcome to that one.

    Gina, is it necessary to do the shoelace trick each time beginning a new round, before making the split ring? I am new to the shoelace trick and not exactly sure what it does. Love this series!

    • @ginabea
      @ginabea  8 років тому

      Basically the shoelace switch is used in mignonette to assure that you are forming stitches in the same direction. On some of my early bags the rounds are sort of "waffled" because I would alternate between front side and back side tatting. If you can work your mignonette in a spiral you will get a smoother appearance.

      Ok. Thank you! I still get a bit confused with front side/back side...so, working front side keeps a spiral going, is that correct?

    Hi Gina. I wasn't able to make it to the tatting weekend unfortunately. I was able to make some pretty flowers though.. My son took them to school for his teachers pencil holder. I'm still having a hard time with the loading loop for some reason. I can do the weavers knot and this seems like a modified version? Thanks for all your help. Will you be making anymore videos" Tiffany.

      ablindgibsongirl Judi Banashek would refer to this as a "loop over connection" - kind of a mouthful - but think of it as how you would put a looped hanging tag on something? But you are right, it is similar to the weaver's knot - only simpler!

    Is this a good way to add thread when u run out can I use the same color ?

    Are you still attached to the ball of yarn

    • @ginabea
      @ginabea  7 років тому

      For most mignonette bags, no. You are tatting rings only. Some of my bags will have a chain stitch introduced at the top of the bag, and I will add the ball thread.
