Long story here but just giving you the details. They didn’t just kill him, they tortured and terrorized him. He got loose one morning, the neighbor was bent over picking vegetables from his garden when Baboo came over and playfully knocked him over, he just wanted to play with the man. The neighbor had never interacted with Baboo before so he tried pushing him away and got small cuts on his hands and arms. He didn’t even need stitches for his wounds but he went to the ER to get them looked at. His wife called the FWC and they had to come out. When they arrived Baboo was calm even happily approaching the officers. He even let them put the pole restraint on him not knowing what was happening. Once they tightened it Baboo tried to free himself by flailing around so they wrapped a rope around his hindquarters and tied him to a telephone pole and pinned him to the ground. Their superiors told them to euthanize Baboo but don’t destroy the brain because they needed to study it.because he was considered a wild animal and keeping a deer as a pet is illegal in Florida, they had no choice but to put him down. They didn’t want to cause a scene so one of them took out a knife and stabbed Baboo in the neck, but didn’t hit an artery so he was just bleeding and in pain. They then debated what to do for 15 minutes while Baboo laid their in severe pain, bleeding, and absolutely terrified. The same man then went to his cruiser and grabbed his pistol. He placed it on Baboo’s chest and shot him missing his heart completely. Now Baboo is even worse pain and terror. Then he retrieves the knife again and sawed into Baboo’s neck with it finally killing him. That poor deet suffered for over 25 minutes all because he wanted to play.

The FWC director needs to be personally held responsible for this legally. Hold each individual person responsible, go after them to the full extent of the law. Also.. if you look at the definition of domestication it is when a species genetics are controlled by man. Should this not mean that many of our so called exotic pets and reptiles such as ball pythons, crested geckos, sugar gliders and other animals which we have a billion morphs on need to be reclassified as domesticated animals? I feel the word exotic automatically taints the publics view on keeping these animals.

I actually did a video on this that I thought was super interesting, but I completely agree there are some species that do already fit this definition, and many that are very close
