It's the shaping of that drop. As I learn more about coasters I have found out that a lot of the seemingly subtle track profiles, shaping of the hills, turns, etc make a huge difference on the ride experience. On this ride you do not quickly arch over the hill into a straight drop, you go over it gradually. As you pick up speed the angle of descent slowly becomes steeper and steeper. According to the laws of motion, and object in motion wants to continue moving along whatever path it is on. Anytime an object has to turn (up, down, side to side) it experiences acceleration perpendicular to the arc of that turn. Because the track continues to be pulled out from underneath you as you descend, you are pushed upwards out of your seat intensifying that feeling of falling 2/3rds of the way down. Cool stuff!
Question Everything bahah. I not Only yelled, I shit my pants. This video muffled out the audio for suure, no way noone yelled. this coaster is intense.. Among the top 10 fastest in the world.
I've been to Canada's Wonderland so many times, I lost count. Only because this park is a 30 min drive from where I live. What people need to know about this ride is that the first drop is definitely faster then it seems in this video and after it may look a bit boring but if you pick the right seats (I prefer the back or the front) every time it goes up it flings you back down, which doesn't give you a chance to catch your breath and it really gives you an adrenaline rush. I like sitting at the very back because I like not knowing when the ride will speed down a drop.
ive been on leviathan 15 times the past 2 times i went.when ever i go on some kind of giga B&M coaster im always sitting in the front or the back.i love the feeling of your stomach turning the first drop and every other drop lifting you out of your seats after that.
I love the back car; I'm pretty sure the weight of everyone in front of you going over and down the hill pulls you down just *that little bit* faster, almost causing a crack-the-whip zero-gravity effect. Same with Behemoth.
@@burton014 think of like a bucket seat, your sitting fairly deep in kinda on an angle with your knees a little up , no straps but the bar that comes down is like I don’t know how to explain it but it completely covers your entire lap! Burrito Power The Leviathan does not have seat belts. I agree, the support bar on this ride does NOT feel safe enough, considering it is the largest and fastest roller coaster in all of Canada. It's just a thick yellow piece of plastic bar that only covers your groin and thighs - your entire upper torso and legs are free to fly about. There is no backup strap in case the locking mechanism on the yellow bar fails - something that almost all similar-sized roller coasters have these days.
PerryThePlatipus Not really scary! in fact more fun than scary! you go down the drop so fast you don't even realize that the drop is that big! so my advice, HAVE FUN
+Perry On the way up, whatever you do, don't close your eyes! Just enjoy the view =) The ride is among the smoothest I've ever been on. You'll never get hurt from this ride.
As much as I love this coaster (honestly if it weren't there I doubt I'd still be going to CW as often as I have been) it's kind of disappointing the ride itself is so short for being such a huge coaster. I think you spend more time going up the first lift hill than the rest of the entire ride, not counting the time you sit there at the end. I realize that's due to the speed but still. And one other thing, this ride is so popular that if fast lane passes didn't exist I'd never be able to get on this ride.
Dude I was screaming the whole first drop, then it goes through tunnel then it is WAY faster than expected and gravity defies logic, it was fun and all but the scariest stuff is going up that lift hill thinking about your life decisions
I love rides, but this one really freaked me out. We had special passes that let us into Wonderland an hour early so there were no lineups, and we chose Leviathan cause it was right there at the main gate. We had no idea it was the tallest and fastest coaster in all of Canada. The initial drop is 80° and 4.5G's - I personally experienced a grey-out (aka a near-blackout) from this drop, although nobody else on the ride did. For 3 days after this ride, I suffered from mild vertigo. I had trouble falling asleep because every time I closed my eyes, I felt like I was falling. I don't mean like a dream, I mean I felt the same g-force effects and rushing of blood and such that I got when I was on the actual coaster. I think my inner ear had PTSD. It was kinda cool at first, I got to experience the roller coaster effect every time I closed my eyes - but after a while it got annoying. If you're young and just looking for a good time, I wouldn't recommend this ride. This ride is for people who think that meth and skydiving is a pretty lame and boring combination.
? Seriously? This ride isnt hardcore at all... go to any american theme park and they have rides just as big if not bigger and I find that the Behemoth is better than the Leviathan and also if you nearly blacked out because of this ride I suggest NOT going on any coaster that involves loops and cork screws because thats freakier and much more disorientating than going up and down fast...
swampydaswampert Well, for the record, I'm not a hardcore roller coaster rider. It's a once-every-couple-o-years thing for me. That being said, I *am* into hardcore activities, like stunt flying and psychonautics. I am admittedly very sensitive to blacking out and G effects on my consciousness, but I am pretty hardened in terms of fear, and I have an iron stomach that can not be made to throw up. All that being said, all I wanted to say was that this ride was one of the toughest I've been on, not that that's a very long list. I don't find corkscrews and loops that bad, I went on The Fly and The Bat right after this, and they are mostly corkscrew/loop rides, albeit smaller ones, and they were easy as pie on my mind.
either way it's gonna slow down... you can see near the end that it was just literally coasting down that downhill ramp slowly in a controlled manner... how boring is that?
It isn't emthy. It may have looked like but there is a lot of rides at Canada's Wonderland. The park is filled with people and in summer, there are lots of people.
I rode this coaster today for the first time, and this video doesn't do it justice. That airtime and force of those turns will kick your ass - in a good way! 👍🏾
Why would Leviathan wish that? Leviathan is the Original B&M Giga, it has a better view, more airtime, also has a great drop, also maintains it's speed really well, etc... I'm not sure why Leviathan would do that '-'
rwquintos Canada's Wonderland is Cedar Fairs test park. They asked B&M to build Leviathan and if it was successful they would build another. Since it was they built Fury at Carowinds

I went on this in the summer this year. A fantastic roller coaster. My only little complaint is I just wish it were a little bit longer for it's size. Still, I'd ride this all day long if I could.
yea this was posted the day when they auctioned the first public rides on Leviathan so prob some guy that loves roller coasters or it was done before the first public ride and the tunnel was done after track construction so prob not there on a lot of the first videos if you watch the first test run on here as well you will notice no tunnel and the test run is filmed by the construction crew on April 15 th
I was just there two days ago and this was my all time favorite!! I went on it twice! Loved it! Reminded me of one here in Virginia at Kings Dominion called Intimidator
Zoey K There only 1 ft apart in height but everything else is different. Also, there are two Intimidators. The one in Virginia is Intimidator 305 because it's 305 ft tall
I used to work this ride, by far the best way to ride is to be an employee who does one of the solo test rides before the park opens. I agree the video doesn't do the ride justice.
Geeze! It's a 3 minute ride from the moment it gets out of the station until the moment it get's back to the station?! That's one lllllooooonnnnnggggg ride!
I never went on the Behemoth after this coaster came out, sure the Behemoth has alot more to it but you cant argue with the smooth ride of the Leviathian, anyone ever tried Dragon Mountain in Marine Land? Lol that coaster almost gave me a concussion!!!

Why is the park empty
It isn't emthy. It may have looked like but there is a lot of rides at Canada's Wonderland. The park is filled with people and in summer, there are lots of people.
Wrong wrong their testing out the rides before the park open
Saybe Lakoh the park was already opened. It was opened in 1981 and the leviathan was opened in 2012.
Vincent Wang I know I mean they are testing the rides before the people come in
Saybe Lakoh the person meant why was the park emthy, not the ride.
Ill take this over Fury 325 any day
You know what this ride is actually really good if you hate lying out of your set because you only fly two times on this ride
That's called airtime and it's safe
I was on this ride a month ago. it is the smoothest ride I have ever been on. It is very enjoyable.
I rode this coaster today for the first time, and this video doesn't do it justice. That airtime and force of those turns will kick your ass - in a good way! 👍🏾

AMAZING AT NIGHT!
lol half the ride is the climb
Maybe cuz it’s 307 FEET.
They did speed it up so it is much shorter than in the video
Leviathan wishes it was Fury 325.
+Bobby T. Fury is Leviathan's successor, so I wonder if they designed it around Leviathan. It's mostly on the ground though after the first drop.
SO much fun! This and the Skyflier, every time, without fail.
Carowinds is getting its own version of Leviathan called FURY 325 coming to Cedar Point Carowinds in 2015!

I went on this in the summer this year. A fantastic roller coaster. My only little complaint is I just wish it were a little bit longer for it's size. Still, I'd ride this all day long if I could.
I mean it is pretty short but what makes it even shorter is the speed.
I would go on the leviathan first out of all of the rides, because later on it will have one of the longest line ups.
EXACTLY! I did first thing and the wait was very short by the standard
any flash passes?
Tommy Costa Yes
Nice, are they costly like 6 flags?
I dont know, I never bought one
It’s so fun, if you’re scared, don’t be! It’s one of the best rides there.
I wnt on this and Top Gun yesterday including the behemot and the backlot stuntcoaster
yea this was posted the day when they auctioned the first public rides on Leviathan so prob some guy that loves roller coasters or it was done before the first public ride and the tunnel was done after track construction so prob not there on a lot of the first videos if you watch the first test run on here as well you will notice no tunnel and the test run is filmed by the construction crew on April 15 th
I rode this last summer, and even watching this now I still get scared. Especially with the sight at 1:24. Still gives me chills.
Holy crap, that first hill is the steepest I've ever seen, this might be the first time I ever had that "heart in mouth" feeling from a video!!!
I was just there two days ago and this was my all time favorite!! I went on it twice! Loved it! Reminded me of one here in Virginia at Kings Dominion called Intimidator
Zoey K There only 1 ft apart in height but everything else is different. Also, there are two Intimidators. The one in Virginia is Intimidator 305 because it's 305 ft tall
went on this one today, loved it so much !! :)) best roller coaster ever! :)
I rode that coaster for the first time on july 27th, last sunday, my first ever coaster and it was INCREDIBLE
I never went on the Behemoth after this coaster came out, sure the Behemoth has alot more to it but you cant argue with the smooth ride of the Leviathian, anyone ever tried Dragon Mountain in Marine Land? Lol that coaster almost gave me a concussion!!!
But I went there a week ago, can't remember visiting roler coaster tycoon.
This coaster was awesome - in germany I couldn't find seats like this
I love this ride a whole lotttt. It’s much better irl, the video doesn’t do this ride justice lol
FAVORITE RIDE BY FAR. CAN'T WAIT TO RIDE IT THIS YEAR.
